I'm not on Facebook but I often get told about the Americans with terriers arguing and self promoting.I just wanted to take time to give credit to a few real American Terriermen.Few months back I made an all day drive to pick up a pup from a man.No fancy names.Just a man who bred for what he needed. He gifted me a pup, took me hunting with his sire. Then gifted me a pieps locator, custom hunting knife, terrierbox and his library of terrier books. 8 years ago I was digging in tobacco country with some people who had a nice pair of coon tongs.I told the folks how much I liked their9 points

Prepping is not all about a potential War, it can be for power cuts, water shortages, redundancy etc. Its amazing how many people eat from day today and have next to nothing in their cupboards or fridge and no other source of electricity, heating or even lighting. I've always made sure we as a family have enough food, water and essentials (gas & power) for at least 4 weeks. I don't consider it to be prepping as such just sensible precautions. Its estimated 3 days of no power in this country and civil unrest will be on our streets.9 points

BIRD Member 5.7k Gender:Male Location:Hereford/ border Interests:lamping/mooching anything to do with lurchers Posted 16 minutes ago Just nice mooch the other day with the old dogs, and old owner lol. Depends. Down here what most would consider prepping isn't really considered prepping just common sense . Because there's certain time did the year, mainly hurricane season where it's a yearly deal and you my end up not having water electricity and similar form a few days in average to a few months in more extreme cases. Two to three weeks being about average. So just about eveyone worth a shit has 6-12 cases of bottled water , a generator of some sort ( me I just have a little tail gater generator that can charge my devices and run some lights on an extension cord) power banks ,small s6 points

Just went and Google him again to remind me....shrapnel in his legs ...left hand almost useless from close quater battle at the Somme....bayonet wound in his groin and blow to his head from the butt of a German soldiers gun....which led him to regular blackouts later in life....6 points

Again don't think of prepping just for conflict, you may have a bug out bag if you live in a flood area and you need to get out quick or you are moved by the police because of a gas leak. Just having a bag with essentials, cash, bit of food and some spare clothes to grab on your way out the door would make things much easier.5 points

Got some great bushing today. Killed two diseased rabbits. Farm I went to has been bursting with rabbits the last couple of years even though everywhere else has seen apocalyptic decline in numbers, despite that up to a month ago this farm was bursting. Arrived today and instantly noticed less movement. Big drop in numbers since 4/5 weeks ago, mixy arrived with a bang. Still a few about though and got a non stop few hrs in. Terrier caught one in cover, lurcher got one and we had loads of bolts. Today really noticed the lurchers age and old injury (broke a front leg half way through his second4 points

As has been said, I think there is a massive difference between just thinking a couple of steps ahead and being a full blown nutcase. So, for instance if I was driving upto Scotland or through certain places in Wales in the winter months either by myself or with the family I’d always stash a box of army ration packs and some ordinary & foil blankets in the back of the motor, weather changes quick in them places and who the f**k wants to get caught in a blizzard with their pants down if you have the family on board. Takes nothing to do it and you forget it’s there, but it’s there3 points

I guess in a way I could be labelled as such, due to the fact I think something bad is coming down the tracks I don’t believe a word I,m told and I am selling up and have moved into a boat so I can feck off sharpish if and when it does and as true Brit says it’s not just war, I read something years ago that if the power ever goes out and full scale civil unrest began 90% of the population would have killed each other within a fortnight, so if you can feck off for a month you should be able to do quite nicely upon your return and I think if we had a landmass similar to America a lot more brits3 points

Trees can be used in livestock systems, for arable you can over sow without ever having to plough (which releases tons of carbon that a healthy soil will naturally trap). Ploughing also degrades soil which is why you have to throw tons of chemicals on it to keep it doing what a healthy soil could do on its own. Mixed species planting with legumes and clovers will just take tons of natural nitrogen out of the atmosphere and fix it and hold it in soil, when soil is “alive” it will also trap and hold tons of carbon as will trees. It will also hold about 10 times as much ground wate3 points

Regional tendencies from round here... Dont see many garden heaters, other than a burning barrel. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, the gate is always open, except for on the back alley they are locked by the council. Southerners are shandy drinking shirt lifters. Red sky at night, Leeds fans are c**ts. Every 'dog lad' thinks a bullX with flat feet from the kennel is a world beater when it smashes next door but ones cat off the wheelie bin top. The paki shops have been taken over by Sri Lankans? The rabbits that dint have Myxy have the other rabbit aids.3 points

Out with Borr and SeanC off here for a day yesterday, fished on speci lake at rhe THL comp venue.. target perch.. Chopped worm, maggot, caster and prawns.. I fished match style, Sean set up "proper perch" gear and Joe had a go at drop shotting..it was a bit too coloured for the drop shotting to work, but we had a decent day on baits, Sean had a couple of decent carp over 10lb, I lost a few (f***ing things! Lol).. but had a good few bream, a couple of nice crucians and a half decent tench...plus one cracking roach around 1.5lb... the perch didn't come until it was pretty much dark.. Sean h2 points

Just out walking the dogs last night on a great spot horse riding trail place. Been some Myxi on there end of summer so its nice to see it doing well. Rabbits out in the open. Chased a Charlie and missed loads of rabbit because little dog who’s a chihuahua Russell doesn’t really play stealth and crys like a hound behind stuff. Good little dog bushing and ratting for me but pain in the arse walking out at night, can’t expect any better to be honest, that’s all it was, a walk, no collar or leads. Anyway lurcher had 2 rabbits ready for my tea tonight. And perfect live retrieves which I just love2 points

The chap that masterminded the Survival programmes was Colin Willock, a friend of Jack Hargreaves . Both were pretty influential in the TV business and had the wherewithal to make programs involving their own interests. I met Colin Willock on a pheasant shoot ,an absolute Gentleman . Between them they built a wildfowling punt and made a programme and wrote a book about its creation . What a great way of life it must've been for them ; TV executive jobs probably army pensions and being paid to film your own hobbies . With Old Jack finding time to get a reputation as a bit of2 points
