Really pleased with the pup. Just cleared 7 months and a pleasure to be around. Just started kicking in hunting up now. Not started marking yet but it won’t be far away. Flushed pheasant rabbit and all ready seems to her eyes on retrieving shot foxes so I have to be care at dusk as that’s long way off. Keen to please. We tried to cut some thing off at the pass here but long gone. You have to try though nibble like a cat seen her walk along a branch with out second thought no worries with cover either10 points

You’re so right Luckee, nothing is lost until you give up trying to fight for it. Unfortunately that appears to be where the lurcher world is right now and as someone with a great affection for running dogs, I find that very sad. In my view lurcher work (particularly in relation to rabbit control) is one of the easiest forms of hunting with dogs to justify and defend, rabbits are still classed as a “significant agricultural pest”. Yet as from April/May time it will be illegal in Scotland and it’s a loss that was self-inflicted. It’s a simple fact of life that if politicians are only heari7 points

At the top of this Section is a thread entitled “Association Of Working Lurcher/longdogs ( Awl )”. It’s pinned to stay at the top so never gets moved and I suspect it rarely ever gets read even when postings are made. Less than 2 weeks ago (24th January 2023) a Bill was passed in the Scottish Parliament which makes it illegal to chase, catch or kill rabbits with a lurcher (or any other type of dog). That Bill will become Law in April/May of this year. If ever there was a time and a need for the lurcher world to get itself organised, then it’s right now. There are organisations ou6 points

Spot on, like alot on this hunting site, been hunting with lurchers a long while, me 35 years, in that time if l am honest, they didn't want you on there ground 40 years ago, and nothing changed. Only now since the Ban with hunting dogs went though England / wales, it got 100% worse to try work a lurcher, the ban made it easy for a farmer or keeper to give a big no to you. I used to go round lot of farmers asking and even done 8 years beating. But the rife lads always given the nod from keeper or farmer, they shoot a rabbit, than ferret or lamp with lurcher. Yep it's finished I think with5 points

Very true more if your a dog for life guy lol. If she took 2 years to get going it wouldn't matter but sure is nice to the signs that all will be well. I wanted a more laid back dog than the last one and she fits the bill perfect but not too laid back. Not sure if its a collie thing or not but she reads the expression on my face a treat. If she rides up front in the van and I catch her sat on the seat with a spanner in her mouth I can't help but crack a smile and her head tilts and I get a paw on my hand. She cracks me up at times fair play5 points

There's a lad from the next village down back in Wales.. His name is "dai" He told the boys when he was a teenager about 30 odd yrs ago. That he shot his air rifle at a jumbo jet which must of been about 30000ft high.. And heard the "ping" So his nickname ever since has been "dai ping" ??4 points

Here’s mine. Ken's Deputy, a man so strange, with a taste so unique and wild, He ate roadkill and chickpeas, a diet so reviled. But in his world, it's all in a day's work, A man who took the path less traveled, a quirky quirk. With a face like Worzel Gummidge, a comical sight to see, He brought laughter and cheer, wherever he would be. A jester in disguise, a clown in every way, A man who lived life to the fullest, come what may. His antics, they would leave us all in awe, His spirit and his energy, beyond compare. For Ken's Deputy, was more than just a man,4 points

The first cnut is the deepest. Verse 1: There's a man we all know His name is Foxdropper, oh no He's not very nice, that's for sure His actions make us want to roar Chorus: Foxdropper, what have you done? Your cruel ways have just begun Your words cut deep, your deeds so mean You're not the kind of guy we've seen Verse 2: He never thinks before he speaks His actions always cause a shriek No one wants to be around His meanness brings the town down Chorus: Foxdropper, what have you done?4 points

Barrie ....I remember your Dad walking his whippets round Darlaston ,cracking dogs and your Dad was always very smartly dressed ?......i hate to say it but i really think us lurcher lads are up against it due to the fantastic job the police ,media even the CA have done on us by throwing us all under the " hare coursing ,organised crime gang ,driving the land " banner ,just walking a lurcher down a country lane is an arrestable offence now ,sadly i think we are beyond help I wont stop ,i cannot stop ,i love seeing my dogs run ,are 56 now ,had a whippet at 7 year old ,greyhounds ,lurchers3 points

I think it’s as you get older you realise you need to relax more and spend more time listening and learning especially when it comes to dogs, as most are way more clever than we think, I just think of how many dogs I have ruined of parted with over the years that haven’t been given enough time and I am sure lots of lads have had the same, weather they admit it or not is another thing.3 points

I'm in the process of getting a kral mortal not every ones kind of rifle mind it being a tactical designed rifle But what gets me is every time you search on utube for them or any other rifle from kral all you get is lads from S, A shooting high powered rifles witch dose not help us when we are researching them in sud 12 As in high power we no there going to be far better than a sud 12 rifle And for what we use them for and what we can achieve with a sub 12 rifle I reckon they would be crying if they had to use one of ours lol Any way here is the mortal And y2 points

Keith lost his traps, fell over with grief Moved to Colchester in search of relief Terrible piles now trouble his days He forgets everything he’s in a daze. His memory's hazy, when nature calls he forgets to wipe. His days are a farce sitting in pubs flashing his arse. But Keith is a fighter, he won't give in With courage and determination, he'll find a win For every dark moment, a ray of hope shines And he'll keep pushing forward, despite the pile pains. So here's to Keith, a hero in our eyes With a spirit unbroken, he'll reach the skies Forgetting his worries, and wiping his2 points
