  1. This picture was originally taken in the 80’s,we were both around 17/18. I posted this picture up on here in 2015,I’ll find a link to the thread and post it. The young man holding up the hare with the striped trousers on is my best mate Gary, during our teens we were inseparable. Always out rabbiting, ferreting, lamping, shooting, fishing you get the picture, and if not in the field..in the pub. Gary found god and became a minister and did tremendous charity work. Sadly Gary was an anti vaxer, and was hospitalised with pneumonia covid and put in an induced coma and placed on

  3. Okay, ran out of lumpwood , got some West Sussex on order to try. So did a brisket the Mrs got on offer in Morrisons in the oven.. She's also doing some keto diet so did a version of cauliflower cheese...Fry bacon carrot onion garlic, add whole chopped up broccoli, add butter , half litre of double cream, handful cheese , salt pepper, two spoon of English mustard, Chop bite size cauliflower pieces add to a casserole dish pour over the pan mix add cheese bake for 40 mins. Kids weren't fussed on veg ingrates. So will do them some chips shortly but they ate the brisket. Me and miss

  4. Me!! To play football, done my knee in and was advised to rest elevate for 6 weeks. Anyway 3 weeks in and I was demented, lurcher just needed to go mental, and I genuinely thought the terrier was in a coma most of the time. Anyway, a couple from this morning it was 2 and a bit very hard miles for me but a walk in the park for the dugs… ferreting tomorrow too ?

  5. Glad your 1st day went well Stav ? I had a great weekend even though it was very blustery. Arrived at 10am Saturday morning and was straight out. Pulled into the farm and I spotted a Cwd in the 1st field couched up but my mate decided to leave it as in view of the nursery on the farm and thought it best to not upset any young eyes. Anyway , next field and another Cwd is trotting down the field towards me , I dropped on the bipod and the deer obligingly stopped at around 100yds and was quickly dispatched ?. We then walked for hours but saw nothing as the strong wind kept them tuck

  6. I blame the misinformation and lies being spouted on social media unchecked and the liars in government that cause this anti vax protest. I know a few that preached it and were left very ill in hospital when the kung flu struck. Its defo serious but some people just get unlucky. God bless your mate

  7. Thank You.I vividly remember when we(Gary) shot that hare,he had passed his driving test before me and had the use of his dad’s Ford Cortina estate 2.0L.We wired a lamp up under the bonnet direct to the battery using crocodile clips and a thick grey wire cable, the lamp was off some top pit machine that we acquired!! Gary was driving I was the lamp man, both front car windows wound down, bloody freezing.Garys single barrel 12g was laden across our laps.and we drove the local mountain roads. That hare was shot just above a village called Deri,on the Gelligaer/Merthyr Tydfil common. We did

  8. Personally I don't believe all this about animals polluting the planet. There was far more cows and cattle about when I was a kid. Every second farm had milking herds. Perhaps all them wildebeest at to blame in Africa Lol. In my view it's planes there were few planes when I was young and they were not jets Lol. But I think the planes put the Pollution high up where the trouble is occurring. Lock down came along and hardly any planes low and behold the hole in the ozone started to close up, strange that. As for not eating meat well they can f**k off. Cheers Arry

  10. Well I was at one of the days in a chapter of “Dogs & Deer” and I can tell you it’s word for word. Likewise quiet a few pals, very good lads, did guest chapters in various books and they 100% wasn’t bullshit. The bloke puts in a lot of miles and is a very single minded type of bloke about whatever he is focusing on. He definitely isn’t some kind of super hunter and he wouldn’t pretend he is. I always found him a very decent bloke and he used to send me a free book every time one came out, I always insisted on paying but he wouldn’t hear of it. Haven’t spoken to him

  15. Cheers mate when I arrived first thing before the guns there was very little about on the tracks, it’s almost like someone tipped them off, that first drive soon eased my fears, like I said the standard of shooting in the most part is not great but this is not a bad thing on the first couple of days when we are teaching them to fly, if this had of been the first day when I joined the shoot we would of been looking at 150 bird day, a group of them were very good shots but left to set up there own syndicate ( that’s now no longer and I don’t want them back ) I’m more than happy with a 40 -

First day over and although a very small day, with us only doing 2 main drives and not pushing one of them all the way and making up the rest of the day with small areas and a few bits of other drives it was a good day 1st drive we pushed what I know as the tip through, setting off from from the bottom of the field it wasn’t until we reached the tip that we started to see birds, they were doing what was expected and running towards the end of the drive, a few birds were dropped before we got to the last part of the drive, where we change direction a push it down, this is where the action

  18. Big 1 today ? and lucky to get the rabbit, jill killed to ground. Lesson learnt and collar batteries ordered. 1st time since was a kid stupidly going without them collared up. Just couldn’t quite reach the rabbit. Started to think before that if she’s not killed to ground does this little 3 holer link up to big warren further down I’d left. Public land forestry block full of dog walkers left spade in van and didn’t get there early, spur of the moment to go today. Ferret surfaced got back to van and drove round other side of the wood through a building site compound just to dig a rabbit. Securi

I know tIm and have seen some of the stuff, including dna evidence obtained from police in Devon, he,s a published author and to his credit he does double check everything before release, he was one of the film makers in the documentary and is 100% committed to the truth, so even though there may be some artistic licence added by the reporter the basics of the report is true ??

  24. The CZ are good in semi, so is the Anschutz. Many years ago now I decided a semi 22 would be useful to have and after a lot of research I got one of these. A Magtech 7022, it's the same gun as the Mosberg 702 (or was then) but a LOT cheaper. Out of the box (actually no, I had already added the swivel studs), front/rear sight removal followed, I had originally intended to use the open sights as it was supplied but found my eyes needed a scope! This really is cheap as chips and very light, I have nothing but praise for it, much more accurate than I could have ever hav

  26. ?I think the phrase 'giving up on the dogs' is often a bit of a misnomer... The act of moving on, to pastures new, is entirely a personal one...? With that in mind,...I feel that I've taken more than enough hearts and souls,...indeed, I have been coming to this final conclusion, for the last ten years... I've not gone, vegan or anything like that ?....I just feel that there has got to be more to my life than, 'dawgs and ferrets'... As my time on this earth nears its end,...I want to do some of the things that my manic obsession, has made me miss out on... I will alway

It twanged like hell and was generally an unpleasant experience firing it. Compared to the vanilla TX200HC, it was pretty bad. Now, the rifle is transformed. It feels at least 40 per cent better than the TX ... super smooth and quiet. Tuned to 11.3ft/lbs. Running favourite diet of .22 AA Diablo in 5.52 flavour.

  30. Do you really think sandy, that keeping active in old age is the way to go lol. I was out for 2 1/2 hours mooching with Buck this early morning, the lads I was with think like you, that you got to keep at'um lol, it OK for them there near 20 years younger than me, I feel my 69 years now haha, but I do think in all honesty that me been with lurchers / lamping for 30 odd years as deff, helped to keep me ticking over ?

Thanks mate, yeh he still out there getting bit of exercise, funny enough, I was out with him early this morning having look about, was out 2 1/2 hours, a real good mooch about, he went flat out in few woods, he caught fair bit of stuff in the dark, he got great nose, as most gsds have. Just put him back in his kennel with a beef bone. The lads I was with thought he looked in good nick for a 9 year old dog, and even though he big lump 28in 88 odd lb he moves quite quick, couple of the smaller beddy types were following him about, they know he find and knock stuff out of cover.
