Had an hour or two in the "man cave" today. Relaxing, a sloe gin or two, listening to Smooth radio. The old dogs appear to enjoy it as much as I do ! Cheers.13 points

On reading the original post , my first instinct was to poke a bit of fun or mock any notion of his boxing prowess. Anyone who steps in the ring and gets paid is a “professional “ . The fair used to turn up in Gloucester in August and Taylor’s boxing booth was a great draw . Anyone who fancied a go could get in and pick up the purse . A mate of mine who was a good amateur boxer , wouldn’t get in because he would lose his amateur status. My feeling is that Plummer probably supplemented his income in such a way . There would be no record of such fights, but he could claim to be pro7 points

Today’s outing for me and longshanx began with a 4:30 start, a trip to some of the long ones land, no roe to be seen so a trip to my mates farm was on the cards for this afternoon we arrived just after 5pm and the weather couldn’t of been any better, we set off to the far side of the farm to walk the bottom gutter back towards the wood. Not seeing any deer along the bottom, it wasn’t until we reached the field that has the boundary of the wood in it that we bumped a deer on the hedge back, it made a break for it across the field towards the wood, the crop banger went off and sent it a li5 points

The deer magnet ? was on the ground by 5.30 this morning and spotted Charlie straight away trotting along the edge of a wood but too dark to shoot and it was on a mission. Then I spied a buck who hopefully I will meet again in a few weeks time ? Watched a barn owl hunting before spotting 2 roe 500 yds away. I stalked in to around 100 yds and discovered it was a mature doe and follower so decided to take the follower but couldn't get a clear shot due to branches, patiently I waited until eventually she presented and job done. Lovely morning to be out ?5 points

Ernest hemingway was one of the first writers about bulls and bullfighting. He inspired tens of thousands with tales of adventure, travel and taurine subjects. Yet today, buy any book on bullfighting by a modern aficionado and there will be a chapter calling hemingway a cnut, a fraud, a bully and a lier. Its like they have to prove their own knowledge by dissecting his. They Google a certain bullfighter and pick points of knowledge apart with their researched history. Does their point scoring make them more respected? So many tales of how much of a cnut plummer was. "A friend of a friend5 points

Absolutely right fair play squire its comforting to see there are still people with courage enough to state the obvious common sense truth.5 points

Well guys you can't look a gift horse in the mouth. Purchased this double rabbit hutch to make a decent flight out of it. Took all the door frames out used the doors for bottom of the flight as trays an two of them for mesh guards at the bottom of flight so the birds don't eat shite from the bottom of the flight. Which I have to say there was no cutting them they fitted nice an flush inside. Then all I did Was cut one of the wire breeding cage fronts down to fit at the top with the other one. Drilled the holes for the wire cage fronts to fit in then put a peace of 1 inch by 1 inch at the botto4 points

Cracking finish to a days stalking, you weren't far from what you said last weekend about the 1 in 5 outings. Glad we finally had the chance for me to drop my first deer. Cheers mate for the guidance. Work needed on the gralloch, but not to bad for my first time I thought. Practice makes perfect. Considering we had to try and cover about 100m quickly over uneven ground to get the shot, heart racing and breathing heavy, I'm glad I could compose myself and get the cross hairs on her. I could just see the cross hair as the light was closing in. With a zoom out and a twist of th4 points

Well the deer magnet popped out again this afternoon and grassed another barren doe. Headed to the leaward side of a copse to get shelter from the wind. Spied a spiker straight away and thought surely there must be a doe in cover. After 10 mins of watching she appeared but they both went back in to cover .I stalked up on them and the doe popped back out only 50 yds away , low neck shot dropped her. As I was dragging her back I spied another 5 in the grass field on last pic, 4 does 1 buck.4 points

I’d say yes for a rimfire, my mate had one on a .22 rimmy and at the distance you would shoot rabbits it did the job perfectly, I do remember it was a nightmare to zero but that was down to his poundland mounts and the bloke thing of not reading the instructions3 points

My oldest was out opening day just on his local rainbow dam on Sunday. He managed 12 on the fly. My good rung me Monday night and asked if he could take him away for a morning on some fresh running fish , these are something that gets Ewan excited . Destination was top secret my mate said ?, picked up at 5.30am and I started work at 7am. Around 9.30am I received my 1st clip of my boy bringing a lovely barr of silver to the bank, no a Cheshire cat never had a look in. If that wasn't enough 40mins later I had another call and he was on again..... What's the chances off that. A debt I3 points

I enjoyed his writings ,and to be honest I wasn't bothered then and I'm not bothered now wether they were 100% fact or not ,they entertained and interested me at a time when it was hard to find anything hunting related worth reading ,but to be fair to people it's not just an internet thing ,he had his critics way back ,they just didn't have a platform .2 points

He was a school teacher in a world of people who looked up to teachers, doctors and the like thinking that they were above their level and never questioned them. That's how he got away with talking bollox for so long. Most of the people that he mixed with wouldn't know a ferret from a rat. I met him a couple of times when he lived locally and he knew nothing about dog behaviour and dog training. Terriers kill things naturally. Long dogs chase things naturally. That is as far as he got. When he tried to breed white GSDs because he thought that colouration had more intelligent genes h2 points
