  2. Well was up and away for back of 7 this morning, the auld vectra indicates what my inverted baws was already telling me it’s f***ing Baltic! Wee hours drive and meet up with my cousin Johnny and jess’s litter sister sky, today is not about the numbers it’s about introducing the pups to their trade, it was never going to be anything other than getting them used to holes, nets, and the added bonus of a bit fur between their teeth, ferrets were quite green too only last years litter. First couple of sets, they struggled to shift the rabbits as they were 30 holers and ideally could have done with

  8. Perfect example yesterday, there will be thousands and thousands of blokes like me (who have been using a mask and carrying hand sanitiser etc etc) looking at the protest in Trafalgar Square and then watching the police used batons against those people. And like me they will be thinking “Hold on, they let tens of thousands of coons run absolute riot around the globe for two weeks and never lifted a finger” ?? Its that type of blatant bollocks that gets people saying “f**k all this” Its why nobody cares what the government says.......they are creating the situation

  9. I’ve noticed that the birds seem a bit more interested in the feed rides over the last week or so . The drop in temperature has focused them a bit more . They just seem to be everywhere at the moment, so much natural food about . And the stubbles are a big pull too . There is nothing worse than a bad neighbour/keeper. You have to respect each other’s boundaries, otherwise it’s a recipe for a punch up . I’ve had “ cheap skate “ f@ckers , trying to pull my birds , don’t put any birds down themselves, they are millionaires, and want to pull our birds and have half arse walk about d

  13. Winter ? is definitely on the way, when I got there just before 9 you could see it had been cold over night and I had to get the winter coat out, there’s a lot of birds around the farm but at the minute they are not straying to far during the day, I’ve moved some feeders further out and also put a couple out that I know the deer can knock the tops off ( before Hugo’s dad arrived) to get at the wheat, as me and FH might be having a trip up there next weekend for the fallow ? ( but I’ll keep that to myself) after feeding we walked the boundaries, not seeing a lot of birds which was good, little

Some of the Wikipedia information is slightly wrong on them as well as being a gallowglass was a like acceptance into a culture , like the samurai I suppose . they were a warrior caste who were primarily used as heavy cavalry and huscarles. They were generally considered to be drawn from Scottish Gaelic clans from the world west coast but also from the novantae and brigante tribes of northern England . these tribes were so warlike and ferocious that the word “brigand”Is still used today to describe a violent outlaw type. I love things like this as it’s absolutely

  21. I couldn’t agree more about a winter coast . I love walking on the beach or seafront when it’s like that , makes you feel alive . I used to be in the local wildfowling club , with stretches of the crown foreshore on the Severn estuary . It could get a bit dodgy when the tide was on its way in , it sounds like a train coming towards you . I can honestly say I had the most exciting and dangerous duck flights imaginable in stormy weather with the tide chasing me . I think back on it and I was mad . But you sometimes you only feel alive when you dice with death , and your adrenaline is

  27. During the roman period sigthounds were likely more localised to type and certainly not pure as we consider pure breeds, most areas probably had there own type suited to their environment, so a roman in Spain would have had an ancestor of the Galgo one in northern Africa would have an ancestor of a Sloughi etc. But there would be a great deal of variety within that, just look at early pictures of greyhounds, they came in size from deerhound to whippet and rough and smooth but all still considered greyhounds. Today in the large parts of the world they still have a homogenous type of sight houn

  29. They might start off pure but within a few generations they’ll all be feral house cats. Hybridisation is a serious issue in the arsehole of Scotland, never mind anywhere else. So long as keepers are allowed to flatten them in areas where threatened natives have a stronghold then I’m on board. I don’t think it’s right to introduce cats if they wipeout lapwings for instance.

  30. Covid has shown us that we are a very adaptive species that is going to survive and once we get a vaccine it will be back to normal in no time. Alas I think memories will be very short and any lessons learnt will be short lived..

  31. when I first started most saluki crosses were with knock about lurhers as that was what lads were running, adding saluki pepped them up, seemed to take them to another level, and of course line breeding created the coursing dog, it would be nice to take a step back my originals were a mix of bedlington greyhound whippet and saluki so I will prob us a decent beddy gray, two seventys bitches line bred from my original bitch fly both small but mighty the lighter coloured bitch killed several foxs in fine style just had a knack..

Its all there fault yet you can go can on the piss and sink 15 pints as long as you get it done before last orders because every one is really well behaved when there on the lash. Back in the day it never took me till ten to be an arse I was well capable of that by about 8 on a weekend haha. Bunch of idiots running the place
