Back in the Autumn I was telling you guys and the rest of the world how I had become a Grandfather after waiting ten years and thinking it would never happen. Well in the Autumn I was foraging Walnuts and had the bright idea I would like to grow one for the Granddaughter, so I went about it. Put some Walnuts in damp sand and peat in the fridge in a plastic box then about Christmas wifey was giving me grief about that. So took them up the green house and some where showing signs of germinating so transplanted then into pots. Well chuff to hell some are now up, this one being the one furtherest24 points

So I'm away for 3 months in the Falklands. Never heard of anyone fishing here and when I mentioned to arry of here about it, he told me about the sea trout fishing here. Sent me a few links and I looked into it. Got my trusty 16 quid ngt telescopic travel rod I've had 10 years, and a box of tobys and spinners. Initially thought I had to pay a fee but the permits are now part of.l my jobs welfare package so no reason not to go. My and my mate popped up to the location of one stretch named the frying pan. We blanked the first 2 trips, and It was looking at the ground I realised the river w10 points

I have in my garden a oak that was grown from a acorn from the Winfarthing Oak which was the second biggest oak in the land and the oldest living thing in East Anglia until it died, there's a story little behind it and there was a old couple who lived in my house before us and years ago the chap collected some acorns from the oak and when he got home he stashed them up in a out house.Time went by and the old man died and his old pal was helping his widow clear out the out houses and they found the acorns, his pal knew where he had collected them from and took them home and tried to germinate th5 points

3 pups still available, 2 previously gone to serious hare hunters, one other to a sporting home for all round fun, the journey to collect is putting good lads off which is a pity as their worth the hassle, he has them very reasonable so to lighten the financial outlay of ferry cost, transportation etc5 points

Horses for courses, I wouldn't enter a digging dog in a place like that because 1st it can't be dug and 2nd I'd end up without a dog, but if I had a dog that would only do say half an hour and then appear back out or if I kept one that could be called out then I wouldn't have a problem with such a place but thankfully we have none like it about me, like I said horses for courses and a lot of foxes can be got with a 10 minute wonder dog,I remember a little Russell a friend had years back that would go in do 10min and out, then it was a case of sitting quiet for a few minutes and almost every t5 points

I don't think it's anything to do with the authorities. If you have a group set up camp on your doorstep then the things you will remember won't be how nice and successful they are. The British people are the most welcoming in the world we on the whole are happy to stand back as we are flooded with the worlds scum and we still treat individuals with respect and take them as we find them. If a certain group are seen as absolute scum then really there is a reason for it. Iv worked as a keeper, on farms and for a land agents so I have met quite a few travellers. I have honestly5 points

There used to be a guy on here from Chile or Argentina I think. He looked like he was getting some good hunting using running dogs and dogos on a range of quarry. I think he was chased off here by people who thought they knew more about hunting in his country than he did. Shame really.5 points

If you think that a dog comes out an goes back in is shit well I'd like you all do a season or two on rock piles see how many hard digging dogs you will have left any one want to try this holds most of time5 points
-
No ...... you miss my point. Some places you aren’t digging that dog, dead or alive. Im not really a digging man at all. But all I’m saying is those little dogs that will go in but not stay forever DO have their place for some people on certain types of land.5 points

Hello, I just finished this hunter with 96mm blade from 1.3505, 115mm handle from bronze (solderd on as allways), raindeer spacer and sambar. The pommel from bronze as well, with the logo of the "Halali" hunting magazine. Kind regards Nicolas3 points

??? why no good ?? Do you work rock ?? Entering a dog any we're dog can end up dead , love hearing my dog to good to go in there when what you mean is your digging dog could not find it's ass hole in a rock pile , as said so many time the bitch is a bolting rock dog repeat not a digging dog , great dog for us but not for some3 points

You put your dog in there? It must be no good. I wouldn't put my dog in there. It's too good. and repeat If there was a thread on here looking for a torx driver, you'd be told you're a fool. They're shit, you need a Phillips.3 points

Liked reading his posts. Not my type of hunting but all the same he was having a good time and his dogs were out there doing the business. I would like to go to NZ one day. Don’t think it would matter where I was in the world, if I didn’t have my dogs it wouldn’t feel the same. My ideal would just be traveling the UK and Ireland, mutts by my side with not a worry in the world......maybe one day. !3 points

Sorry sheep chaser but I've got to say, it might seem heartless but I'd rather dig a mighty warrior dead than look at a coward behind me whilst I'm half way down to it( or so I thought).I treat my dogs like kings, feeding, exercising and housing, but it comes with a price, they have to work as I expect them to.3 points

I rear on a couple of bull calf’s from the milking lads now and again, €50 buys them, bit of feed then out on grass upto 10 months then kill for veal Butcher charges me €200 to kill and joint, make sausages, burgers, mince etc so €300 fills my freezer with totally organic veal for over a year.....that’s cheap eating that is.3 points

I can respect that, but it's not for me. I don't do rocks, and on my perms I've never seen a place that couldn't be dug, difficult yes, impossible...not with a few good men on the spade, it may take a while but if the dog will put a shift in then so will the men.2 points

You see all these programmes on the telly mate and everyone is ticking along, up to their elbows building things out of rock with their bare hands etc etc.......my experience has not been like that I can tell you now ! Lol ? I have just messed along making loads of f**k ups, trying this, trying that and my only goal was that we could feed ourselves with our own meat and we have....so that’s good. I also wanted to have a place where my kids could build a home mortgage free and they can do that too if they want because there is enough space for them to have a couple of acres each, so2 points

I like the Boer goats, but like sheep, I don’t like the fact you are meant to medicate them so much. I lost a load of sheep to Fluke the other year, we suffer bad with fluke here in the west of Ireland it seems. I try and keep creatures that don’t require loads of medication because ultimately, I have to eat it.2 points
