Been working and building my own feeding station and hide for past couple months and now i'm very happy to say all my hard work has paid off, Male Sparrowhawk came in today for 30 mins and what a stunning bird he is. I can't express enough the satisfaction and sense of achievement i have right now.4 points

Lovely walk about this afternoon with the Beretta 687 sport and my GSP. My best mate lifted one covey of partridges, a couple of pheasants and a single hare. I took no shots lads, as i am trying to promote the game numbers but not one vermin presentation, - a good thing when you think about it i suppose. Great walk about all the same. atb Mark.4 points

I had a quick wizz around picking bits of fluff and her hairs up but she just said exactly the same thing so I can’t say I miele’d the sitting room. I just knew we should have brought one of the maids with us? That’s a BIG cat he has,I will be content with any,not holding out for a big Tom,any reasonable cat will do,it’s the experience, listening to the dogs sing.4 points

How any dog behaves in a kennel depends on good genes and the pup being introduced to the kennel in the correct way: not just dumped there and left from day one and ignored. Dogs, being social animals, need company, and especially when they are young and feel more vulnerable. But getting a pup of sound temperament from sensible stock is the first thing. Then it is up to you to manage the pup's rearing and education so it doesn't see being kennelled as being abandoned where it feels it has to cry out for attention when your'e not there.3 points

Hamilton is an exceptional driver and has matured a lot over the last few years ... I hope he goes on to at least equal Schumacher’s record .........3 points

Hi Nathan, Yes Grey partridges mate, i have 10 birds about the permission and i`m trying to help them as best i can by shooting any corvids i come across. Partridge numbers are poor all over the country, so they need as much help as we can give them. atb Mark.3 points

Day out with mate who shepherds on a fell , he had been seeing good few foxes about , first spot we struck 2 close to each other , one made good his escape using a river bank to his advantage, gun could only see his ears , other ran straight down the wood and a gun got him at the bottom .second spot produced 1 , was a hell of s hunt but he used all the marsh and was only seen a couple of times.2 points

Evening all, long time no see. I've been mighty busy recently with very little time to get out or even onto the forums. However, one of the things I have been busy with is my SGC Application. After years of umming and ahhing I finally decided to take the plunge. 13 weeks on and tomorrow afternoon is my FEO visit. House is tidy, safe has been checked, double checked and triple checked. I've read through the BASC shotgun code of practice and the CPSA publications to cram some info into my nut. I've memorised the legal definition of a shotgun and the various other rubbish I thought I might2 points

Lost my bed/whip/grey earlier this year ,more than happy with him so got same again but with a splash of collie in it...it's the most neurotic animal I've ever owned...scared of it's own shadow...if it wasn't for my daughter I think I'd have pts ...collie....never,ever again .no way2 points

Interview done... Here's hoping! I think it went well. Now is the waiting game, she said It could be up to 4 weeks before I get my license but we will see. I've got the itch now! Meece, i know it doesn't have bearing on my getting a license but it was things I knew she might ask, so I made sure I had some knowledge of it all to cover my arse. I won't be limiting myself to just an O/U as I'm also hoping for a semi auto but the o/u is first on my list for for some clay bashing. I just hope they don't reject it... I rounded a bolt when I fitted the safe and I dont fancy taking an angl2 points

Costs me about £200 a year, about 15 farms, park in the farmyard, full permission, no moither. Bottle of Scotch, Port or chocs etc Works for me. Some people spend that on a night out, I get as much sport as I need for a year, probably don't need to give them all stuff but It's nice to be nice ? Cheers, D.2 points

I always give a bottle of whisky to each permission, i have 4 permissions. A lot of lads don`t agree with giving a bottle etc, as they are providing a much needed service already,- each to their own i suppose. atb Mark.2 points

I don't mean to sound super clever, lol. It's all that shit I feel like I need to get away from, that's my comfort zone and it's f***ing killing me. I'm pretty sure it will. I was put in touch with the chap from a respectable member of this site and is a proper kiwi hunter (we follow each other on insta/FB). Seems sound and I'd much rather that than a pro guide. The fella stands to gain out of it too of course. The money is already put aside. Just needs to happen now.2 points

Feel like I'm ticking over in every respect, I need to challenge myself before I f***ing give up to this mundane toxic f***ing modern life. So I'm meeting a total stranger who's going to take me into the mountains for an armed ramble on the other side of the planet.......... for a start to fixing that, can't wait. ......and what about your lion hunt in Canada?2 points

Not finalised. Provisionally set for next May. Given that it's with a local fella I don't want to shell out any money too soon for it to fall through, lol. I'm 100% up for it still and him and his mate will be getting a free hunting trip as I'm covering the expenses and a bit on top effectively. I think he has to wait to hear back what block he gets before things can be firmed up. But yeah, helo into the block for 5-7 days. Then couple days on ducks and couple more on pigs. It'll be the trip of a lifetime for me and couldn't come at a better time. Sounds daft but I need this.2 points

Once upon a time I had 23 permission slips in my coat and nobody ever got a bottle, I could not afford to get them all drunk.. I only gave permision up and never lost a permission for being tight.... As a proud Yorkshire man I'm sticking to giving them feck all.2 points

I would buy both a drink. I generally buy my perm owners a Xmas hamper for around £20, the sort you see in garden centres, then I also put in a bottle of good white wine and a good red wine possibly a bottle of port depending on the perm, rarely all three bottles. I stopped buying a bottle of shorts as it doesn't capture the Xmas spirit and must say they all seem to prefer the little hampers / canvas bags. Take your wife and stroll around a good / big garden centre and you will find some nice stuff. Phil2 points

My last visit by a female officer noticed my wife's take that CD on the stairs. She spent most the time blabbering about all their chuffin concerts she had been! Talk about snooze feature!!2 points

Spend more time one on one with the pup ... make every meeting fun and rewarding ... no matter what the pup does don’t tell it off until you’ve got your bond ... plenty of one on one walks play time treats ... the pup will very quickly associate you with all things nice and will pick you over the other dog ......2 points

It was only just over a week ago that it was 23c down here . Every year when it gets hot people moan about the heat. So what do most people do they have their holidays in the summer or go abroad for the sun. And what have we got to look forward to. Short days, cold, wet missed able weather. Roll on global warming. Sod the cold weather. I'd much rather be pigeon shooting over stubble than trying to keep warm on a wet drafty day.2 points

I can’t see holding teams back to even things up works , as you say over the years the dominant teams change . When you look at the differences in times between all the teams it’s down to a sec a lap and between the top teams it’s hundreds of a sec this surely is were the drivers make the difference. When Hamilton joined Mercedes they wasn’t the top team but with there technical improvements and his driving they have become the team to beat . It then needs the other teams not only to match the technical side but match the driving skills and at the moment Hamilton is without doubt the best .W2 points
