  1. This dog I bred and raised. He is the same family line of dog breed to a full wolfhound then crossed back to a stag hound. He could burn a coyote down and really snuff the life from one quick. He is a good pig dog also as you can see. I breed him to 3/4 pit 1/4 cane corso bitch and got a very nice litter of pups. They are 13 months old now and really turning out to be good pig dogs. I'll post pictures of them later.

  2. I have been setting up my trailcam at various locations, trying to monitor routines and numbers of foxes, rabbits, pheasants etc. , very much hoping for some good shots in the process. Today when reviewing the past weeks footage I saw this and was totally shocked. The trailcam was tied to a stick and stuck in the ground where 3 fields adjoin and nearby a stream over the back of the house.

  4. I thought that you were looking for a rise when I 1st read this but you have explained yourself later on in the thread. Of course there can be no standard of perfection for any type of dog outside of a show ring or an artificial trial situation. Owners and more importantly breeders of working dogs will all have their own standards. Some similar, some contradictory to others. Some unique. The moment that a written standard of physical type is adhered to and influences breeding in preference to the qualities that were sought in the development of the breed/type is the moment the breed/type becom

  5. I sold that dog but not before I bred him to a 3/4 pit 1/4 cane corso bitch. The red dog is a result of that breeding. He is doing pretty good. Haven't been using him for long, only about 6 weeks now. Seems like he his gonna make a fine dog one of these days. Here are a couple from tonight he helped catch. Hopefully he will be catching his own soon

  13. Taking pride in what you feed your dogs and keeping them in good condition is all part of it, it adds to the satisfaction when you get a good finished product at the end that does the job. I think that's what sets us apart from fishermen or shooters, there's more to it than just the hunting aspect.

  16. It's different for every single one of us, what floats your boat may not float mine. Even the work style is objective, some like them hard, some don't, as long as you're happy with the dog you keep I wouldn't give two fucks what anyone else thought, stamp or work style.

  17. ? Dogs are just like people,...some are tough as teak, whilst others,.. are not... We can breed for toughness and hardiness, of course,..but you have to work with the tools you have at your disposal, at the time... I grew up around hard-working sheep and cattle dogs, that were owned by even harder men...? In hindsight, they were treated abysmally,..and considering their value and usage to the stockman,..it was ridiculous how bad they were kept. Nowadays, I feel we are far more educated and enlightened, towards our canine partners. My dogs are now simply fireside pe

  20. What to take. I was tempted with my Chinese air rifle. The rimmies just weren't talking to me. Fancy an early with the 22 tomorrow if wind good. Cartridge shotgun. Nooooo. Got to be a flintlock then ? I got my gear ready last night so as soon as the fires were made and lit me and Jess headed for a small patch the owner gracefully let's me help myself. I was just putting the sneak on a rabbit when this dark pheasant comes running at me! He disappeared in a cloud of smoke. No delay from the lock, klatch boom. 32g of mixed #1& BB at 25yds crumpled the bird.

  28. They are basically a loose line bred family of working dogs. Primarily keeping to the wolfhound side things. Various mastiff breeds in them and a little dane in there also. I've caught coyote with them but only the dumb ones that think they want to test the metal of the dogs before running off

News reader and green party all over it ( blood sports ) ffs they are even saying it should be an absolute last resort shooting an animal and should only be carried out by professionals. PROFESSIONALS . Pmsl . I'm telling you fishing is next

  34. This looks like a few people took exception to what she did, made a load of noise and, it's just snowballed From what I've read, it sounds like she knows what she's doing and she did it well. ........ She put up a post saying that the meat from the stag will be used - I have no issue with trophy hunting but, all the better if the meat is being used Also, she said that she stalked a goat for 2 days so, I'm guessing that she's not taking wild pot shots. In my opinion, fair play to her - she should crack on and keep doing what she enjoys

  35. I pay alot of attention to how a rifle comes to my shoulder. No interest in shooting rested, any rifle can be mounted for that. No it's when shooting off hand a rifle for me has to fit just nice. Nothing beats a Winchester 94 for fluently coming to my shoulder for an off hand shot. My Brno just sits there so it came home. My 452 fits well. Many a center fire rifle has been way to long in the stock for me. Great off a bench, useless in the field if you don't want to carry aids to help with a steady aim! Enjoy your rifle. Look right from here. U.

  39. Thanks guy's, I feel the same way. At work yesterday some lady was telling me there is a Standard of perfection. I told her I don't know what she was talking about. Then she said that it has to do with the size the color and so forth. I said no there isn't. Then she came in today with a UKC standard and I read it and I laughed and said that it was bullshit. I thought she was gon a kick my ass! Lmao?? I told her that they are a working dog and if it works it meets the standard and if it doesn't work it doesn't meet the standard. Man I thought she was gonna kill me, Lol I had to tell he

  43. Out yesterday for a couple of hours with a mate to stretch the hounds legs, hounds got a very good hound, didn’t miss a beat. Put the fox to ground, mate said the famous words, it’s a handy spot, so I went for my pup. Soon as I brought him to the earth he was going mad to get of his lead, second I let him of he was gone, give him 10 mins no sign, mate put his ear to the mouth of the hole and could hear him clamped to the fox, I started to locate, heart went in my mouth when I seen 9ft on the box! Phoned a mate for backup! Straight out to us, pup did not let a mute out! Over the moon!!
