i thought it might be interesting to here what peoples first experiences with coursing dogs/lurchers were and when, mine was 1969/70 when I was a small boy out bird nesting and playing in the fields and woods around home I used to see hares all over and our mongrel used to yap off into the distance and i longed for a dog that could catch one, there was a litter of running dogs in the village these were beddy whippet x saluki not that that meant much to me at the time the bitch I bought for £3 was fly and she was a world beater in any ones eyes. the pic has been seen before but fly is the big16 points

It's getting like an old tarts site on here, which iPhone, which stupid German penis extension car, which trainers, get a van and be a man all those things do is keep you on the merry go round of buy something you can't afford work your nuts off for five years to pay for it so you can chop it in for next to nothing and start all over again, unless you have the disposable income to go out and purchase it outright non of them are any better than the other, ???12 points

With my intro to hunting it was all guns, snares and night lines{fishing},ferrets and egg collecting.I vividly remember the whippet that somehow ended up amidst all this and the hours and hours i spent in the fields with that little sandy bitch,i was less than 6 years of age and can still remember, over 50 years later, how she yapped the place down on hares, she managed the odd hare that she worked off its seat and again i still remember the flying fur and how she struggled with holding on to them, she caught a bunny or two and became a useful ferreting companion, her ace in hand was her ability to11 points

With living in the sticks my house takes a bit of abuse from the weather, so it doesn’t take much for it to knock of the tv, WiFi, and occasionally like last night the electricity. With that it generally means it’s a good time to get out with the dog. Fired up the generator to keep the freezers going and off out. There wasn’t a great deal about on the spot but we managed a few runs and he didn’t miss many so pleased with his effort, it’s great to watch the little whippet twisting and turning like a contortionist, even more so when I’m used to watching the big dog, who to be honest turns11 points

My grandfather always had a lurcher and to b honest I karnt remember when my family didn't keep a running juckel or two, Most had bedlington in them, and I always remember a Fawn ruff coated dog that slept under the trailer he wouldn't sleep in his box,he was a good dog. First hare dog i see was my uncle's he had been to Ireland to collect a stunning Black pup,and he popt in to show me dad, That Greyhound x whippet took many hares and it was seeing him run that got me thinking, I got two collie Greyhounds when I was 14 they mostly hound blood. I would leave the site every mo8 points

If bettering yourself is loading yourself with more debt please don't let me stop you, I,m sure your neighbours will be well impressed, I call it realistic as opposed to miserable, I,ve spent a lifetime making myself recession proof after seeing so many people who thought they were doing great go to the wall over a couple of percent increase in the interest rates, and if it is a gift from your multi millionaire boyfriend always remember to work the shaft while tickling the balls ???8 points

Fancied a walk, feeling better and my Mrs hogging the TV remote I grabbed the 22 and some eley HV HP. Decided to circle some rough ground that is ideal for fox to lie up in during the day and dodge me during the day. Some early mornings I get lucky but I likes me bed! This summer anyway. I was half way around and three silenced center fire shots rang out, less than a mile away upwind! I carried on my course. My lamp spots a fox the other side of a valley, at least 400yds or more. I stalks it down to under 100 yards. Sitting down I could not aim so I waited, r6 points

I no 3k a week is achievable but I don't want to achieve it, as it comes at a price, I live a frugal life and am happiest walking round in the woods turning over stones and looking up trees I have zero ambition exept to leave my kids a good start which I,ve achieved so I,ll just carry on earning enough to live and spend as much time as I can living instead of working, I,ve grafted my bollacks off over the last month but not for a new car but so I can have the next month doing what I want and when the dollar is gone I,ll have another pop for a few weeks, I don't need material things only practi5 points

As some of you know I ordered a FX crown .22 FAC , it arrived just over week ago ,all I managed to do is to scope it up . Any how this weekend I have spent about 5 hours zeroing crown in , testing with different pellets , different power settings with different pellets and still not finished with this yet . Barrel does not seem pellet fussy with a wide range of pellets , even H&N are half decent ,which I can never to get these to work in any of my guns . Best three pellets so far AA field 18gr , JSB exact 15.9gr and falcon accuracy plus 13.4 gr all though H&N barracuda4 points

I use Tung oil on all my walnut stocks take the stock off then give it a rub over with 0000 wire wool then clean it off with a damp cloth to remove all the bits of wire wool then put the oil on with your hands a good amount at first then let it stand for an hour then buff it off then let it stand for a good few hours then buff again if it needs more just repeat the process atvbjimmy ps,,,you can give the stock a soapy bath after you have wire wool.d it this will also remove any old oil that is in the wood and help the grain pop use the soa4 points

Reckon I could’ve only been about 19 years old at the time ? only joking I was about 5 lol . When I think back I can’t remember a time when my dad nether had a long dog or a terrier4 points

Birch Polypore mate A very investing fungi, It is edible but very bitter. Iv'e tried soaking in salt water also tried soaking in milk still not good. Iv'e said before in one of the other mushroom threads, its anti cancer, anti septic can be used a Elastoplast, you could carry a hot ember in it apparently a real Boy Scout fungi. Cheers Arry3 points

Nice set up, have a few mates that keep them, I used to have several tanks but just own this one large bow front tank now and here,s one of my plecks doing a sterling job of keeping it clean I also keep a humbug catfish in there that keeps a good balance with the live bearers, the tank has,nt been cleaned or had a water change in years so recon it's quite a good balance, best bit I bought it for £50 off a dude that had his house repossessed after getting into debt on finance???3 points
