So yeah after last go round fishing apparently he's badgered the inlaws so much and had so much fun they basically said next time I wanted to kidnap him their more then happy to let me lol ! So today I had to go watch him and his brother for a hour while their grandma ( my mother in law) had to go run some errands. Welp she's gone for 5min before I tell them to put their clothes on we're going outside to play. His bother is autistic but so is my older brother so it's bout second nature dealing with him . Gave him some side walk chalk showed him how to use it and he was in heaven. Just sat ther14 points

Caught the biggest dang brim out of anyone of us in that hole the whole time ! And after that he was just a bream catching fool ! Think he got about 12 till he asked about how the the fish probably where in there with the current. To which I explained how more predatory fish with kinda wait around the current seams in the slack areas for food to come in and just rush in and get it and swim back to rest . Said that's what catfish do a lot he said ok stared a the water for a bit and made a difference cast then what he had been doing. Asked why and he said he though it seemed like it made sense10 points

Does it really matter wether Spud was a world beater or not. By the writings in the shooting news I think Gary was more than happy with the dog and that's what really matters to anyone who has hunted with lurchers.9 points

We used to have sectarianism here in Newcastle back in the 50’s and 60’s. In my own family, who were Irish immigrants, some were Catholic, others became Protestant, but these days most people look at sectarianism as an anachronism that is only seen in places like Glasgow and Northern Ireland. The “new” sectarianism is between Christianity and Islam. Sadly, Christianity is on the decline in the UK and Islam is on the rise. We shouldn’t be worried about the different branches of Christianity, but of the Islamification of our country. Cheers.5 points

Moved 7 chicks from brooder to main coop today. 6 weeks old. This will free up the big brooder to move the chicks into from the little brooder. The production line is going now.5 points

A few things for me lately have hit home the fact that you really do only get one go around on this wheel so - feck slaving away for most of it. I like folks idea when they can retire early - do it. Go and enjoy your time and family as much as you can - take as much time in the sun as you can and, do whatever makes you and yours happy everything and everyone is just white noise. All the best.3 points

Never met Gary Hosker though used to enjoy his articles in what was the then shooting news and his day's in the Yorkshire dales wich back then was the rabbit catches nirvana though inadvertently his articles must have played a part in lads to go out and seek this Rabbiting nirvana for themselves and lads like me who did manage to find it have partly got Mr Hosker to thank for the memories that will stay with us for ever.2 points

Depending what you want you can get breed more specific to laying, can get yr old Warren's for 5quid a hen round me, Ince you have nursed em.to health they will lay well for a few yrs still. I went for light sussex as they are dual purpose, for meat and eggs as I want both. I get 5-6 eggs a week per hen so just under 1 a day. Good solid bird, handles the cold and lays all year (some stop in winter). Nice looking bird aswell which isn't important but helps with the misus. As some have said chickens will clear the ground they are on so either put them on slabs/concrete and feed em well or o2 points

as I have posted before, it was brilliant era, shooting news was great reading, some real characters, great times being a young man and doing a bit. it changed to the countrymans weekly now that has folded, saw where it said merged into the shooting times, had a look at it, it's still the same old shooting times, not for mere peasants like me.2 points
