  1. Been out for an hour tonight, after 2 blanks I’ve waited for the right conditions and I chose tonight, slight drizzle and wind blowing and now we’re up and running, 3rd time lucky. I know any Lurcher should catch a rabbit but I’m proud of my dog he bought them back alive, near enough straight back to me (little bit of showing off from him) Praised him to high heaven, I must admit after I took them he wanted to get at them again before they went in me ruck sack I told him a stern leave it but he tried it, I suppose to be expected at first? The dogs 11 months old next week so very early days

  3. I don't do "pretty" food I do tasty, wholesome food. I knocked up a lamb mince shepherd's pie mix last night that we had with rice, tonight when it had time to mature it went under a mixed veg mash topping and served with one of our savoy cabbage. It was indeed ansome. Pictures do it no justice whatsoever as usual.

  4. I don't really get very worked up about this sort of stuff, but from a purely rational view of the facts, if this same stuff was common place in an indigenous population of a former European colony then it'd likely be considered insidious and potentially a watered down tactic of genocide. I mean, I don't for one minute believe the marketing teams of Matalan etc have genocidal or even political intentions they are purely reacting to the current socio-political landscape and this sort of stuff is what is deemed the most effective from a cost/benefit point of view. This PC ideology is mains

  6. I found this on the internet ,interesting reading. Rabbit numbers decreased by 88% in the east Midlands and 83% in Scotland between 1996 and 2018. They fell 43% across the whole of the UK over the decade to 2018, with the latest scientific survey recording no sign of the declines slowing. “Rabbits are in a lot of trouble,” said Pip Mountjoy, Shifting Sands project manager at Natural England. “They are actually an endangered species in their native region on the Iberian peninsula. It’s surprising for people that rabbits are important in some ecosystems. We think of them as a pest but

  7. Received the latest offerings regarding books through the post today by Darcy,In Pursuit of the Largest & Now That's What I Call Lurcherwork IV..I haven't read them from front to back as I've been on a 350 mile trip out with the dog today, but read a couple of chapters from each book now I'm sat down for the day & I've really enjoyed what I've read & seen so far..I'm known to take the micky out of JD but I will always be honest about things & what I will say is the books are well worth adding to your collection, for the money they are brilliant! Hope those that have them on order

  8. Maybe. It's a massive mill so perhaps I could build a big trap in here. Shot just under a 100 today and everyone is stuffed full of wheat....so somebody somewhere has a massive feed bill and these pigeons aren't hungry! Big team coming in Monday to board up and it will be stripped and converted before you know it. Going to have to work all weekend cleaning it but hopefully it will set me up financially till after Christmas and I'll also get the 6 other Mills being converted by the same company

  13. Most of the lads into dogs are "rascals" mate... it's hardly ever been for the whiter than white types has it!! Probably the best dog man I know, or at least the bloke who puts the most stuff on the ground I know is by far not Mr Tidy, and can certainly be considered a "rascal".. he travels the country from September to March and has for the 15 years I've known him and hunted with him, and way before that... but I know for a fact he wouldn't smash up land, fences, drive crops etc... you know the score mate, if you are serious about your hunting you want to keep at it so bringing everythi

  24. So advertising doesn't influence things then? Why do companies spend billions on it then? Edit just checked its £657 billion a year industry. That's a whole lot of money to spend on something that doesn't work.

The classic scenario starts with a customer being reluctant to kill them but accepting that perhaps "The one in the loft needs to go". Then as the body count rises the customer gets addicted having every one that sticks its nose over the garden fence caught . Then follows this conversation. Me ." We've got the main culprits . We could go on trapping but you've got to consider how mu

It was a farmers field that had become a wat-er hole with flooding over the years. So he left it for cattle was about 4 5 ft deep but had some monster pike an plenty of silver fish. I caught my first ever pike on there 13lb 2 oz on a table spoon lure. A watched him cut the handle off the spoon for me put a swivel an Ringlet to connect it to the spoon same at the other side with a treble on an boom was away lol simp

  31. Well that worked! Nipped out before the weather deteriorates again. Spotted one that locks onto my red light at 400yds and by the time I get to 300yds it slips away. It seems to be in a particular wood and my little bediwhippet was scenting the air in there last weekend so I may just let her run the wood soon and I carry a shotgun. Any way on the way back along the farm track I sprung a fox right where I leave bait regularly. I let it calm down a couple hundred yards away and then started squealing. In it came. 75yd shot, ran away 30yd stopped and got one extra free.

  35. I’ve noticed that this is how you argue with folk. If you don’t have an argument you just change it to try to make it look like the person you’re debating with is arguing a stupid point. Either that or you just don’t understand what people are saying, but I don’t think you are thick so doubt it’s that. So what I’ve said is effectively this - “A man who goes out one night and kills a bunch of hares with his dogs doesn’t have too dogs that are well tested and the future of the sport if he goes about it in certain ways” you change it to - “I think we should be getting linings

  38. I don't know if it's the way you phrase it, or the way I read it, but you allways seem to equate lads on here who actually work their dogs, with the arseholes who you despise so much. Well, we are not, and I resent the implication. Theres an old saying, "running with the fox, and hunting with the hounds", which is what you appear to be doing by the tone of some of your posts. Theres allways been shithouses in the game, but the internet has highlighted them.........we are not all in thrall to these people, they're NOT our heros. ? Cheers.

  39. Probably correct mate and that would make sense, that the more a dog runs, the better it hopefully gets and therefore is going to be a better prospect for breeding. But why try and make some connection with lads running dogs and what is obviously in the case you have just posted 'criminal activity'? Trashing land, fences and gates... driving over people's property and leaving dead quarry lying around is criminal activity nothing more.
