I did a mouse job for 1 of his neighbours. She said he was a right arse to his wives.....hence the number he went through. Ive told the story before but worth repeating. A local brewery did a real ale called Fred's cap. His widow wanted royalties for using his name. The brewery changed the name to 'flat cap'. Their next brew was named 'gold digger' and the one after 'old slapper'.13 points

Probably because it’s my industry ...... but the way farming is getting attacked is mental. And the amount of hypocrisy is ridiculous. We have Jeff Bezos .... head of Amazon, telling people that farming needs to sort it self out and change. The man runs Amazon, ffs, and spent 5.5bn to launch a rocket so he could have 10 mins at the edge of space. There are 400 private planes at the event. Plus they flew in heavy 4x4 vehicles to do short runs about the place ? Oh yer it’s deffo the cows farts that are destroying the world ..... that and tractors ?8 points

First ever night on the lamp for me and my pup he’s just turned 10 month old and I’m just looking for 2 or 3 easy slips. I’ll talk you through it if you care to read. Out the car and straight away a squatting rabbit. Dogs tugging on the slip he must of seen him. We get without 40 yards the rabbit gets up and bolts and I slip the dog. He runs straight past the rabbit and in the wrong way like he hasn’t seen it…. Ok lamp off, whistle softly and he comes straight back. I’m pleased he didn’t start hunting up so we crack on. Over a couple of fields I can’t believe how much my arms aching from cons7 points

Purposely have not watched any of it for that very reason mate, I knew it would just wind me up. Without even looking I can tell you it’s going to go like this…… Every big industry run government in the world will make a load of vague promises about meeting a certain target of some sort decades into the future and then continue to crack on like before. They will use these vague targets as an excuse to rinse hundreds of pounds extra every year from the ordinary bloke because that’s “doing something” and use this new found windfall to carry on giving China a hundred billion quid w6 points

Is anyone else listening to the shite being spouted by the great and good at COP26 and getting wound up by it? The utter hypocrisy and crap is worse than ever. And even worse is the majority of the general public is buying it .........4 points

I think it's a small percentage of the overall, but the carbon footprint is larger as a lot of agriculture is to feed these cows , so whatever many times the tractor has to plough spray etc all to feed a cow. Some countries are clearing forest en mass to grow cattle feed or grassland to feed cattle. Billion cows are emitting serious tons of methane , as well as all us humans , add to that pig's and poultry. Living in Devon seeing robotic milkers where cattle don't go outside unless they're dead. Surrounded by lush grass that is made into haylage or whatever, feed bought in? Farmers won't plan4 points

Both my Father, and Grandfather, used them for rabbits... I had a wee spell with them myself on the sandy soil, but I found them to be real heavy old lumps of iron to lug around... Mind you, I suppose the same could be said of the Imbra and Juby,...they are also a bit on the weighty side... Both those canny traps, were good catchers of rabbits, but in truth,...the old Gin trap didn't miss much...? I've also had a go with a few modern footholds, and I reckon the Gin would have survived a few years longer IF, those toothed jaws had been flat, like a 'Cushion Catch'. Int4 points

Personally,...I love a boisterous , full of life pup, over a quiet and (seemingly?) sensible jukel.... I much prefer, the type of animal that possesses a bold, and confident temperament... Our game,..is frequently a difficult and frustrating business,.. and I am of a mind that one can ALWAYS calm a keen and active young dog down, but its rare that you can ever put prey drive, courage and boldness, into a lack-lustre tyke... Give me a bad boy,... any day....?3 points

It’s a twat. Some dogs are twats. Some twats you can train not to be twats. Some are always twats. Some twats are useful so you live with them. Some twats aren’t so you don’t.3 points

Another thing people forget about dairy. Below is a Hereford x steer out of an organic dairy cow. She produces a load of milk and also this calf which will be fattened on organic grass and go into the food chain. The alternative is a lovely image of some small holder suckler cow rearing it’s calf ..... but they keep that cow all year for that one calf. The dairy cow has the milk, the calf and also at the end of her life goes into the food chain. Think about over her lifetime how much food in terms of milk, cheese, cream, ice cream, milk powder, beef, leather, bone meal etc that anima3 points

The other thing I always notice is that to the layman, when looking at farming small is always seen as good, green, happy etc and big and commercial is seen as bad, low welfare, high impact, poor quality. It is simply not true at all. Same with the indoor vs outdoor debate for livestock. Folk want all outdoors but I have both and I see who’s happier from about now until March ?3 points

I think it’s a convenient target. Fits quite nicely with the vegan movement that seems to be prominent right now. I think farming as much as any industry needs a shakeup and we need to look at things holistically and environmentally. Otherwise we’ll have more instances of “yay we saved the Amazon, gin and tonics all rounds!…. Shhhh no one mention that they’re now ploughing the Cerrado grasslands instead!”. Or “yay we are recycling all of the countries used tyres, gin and tonics all round!….. Shhhh no one mention were paying a firm in Asia to take them and they’re just burning th3 points

told the breeder to keep them,I've no interest in their past,...sire and dam work under the sod...so that will do me,won't just be for flat out digging, but I will expect it to stay till it's dug?if she don't make the grade, she will go back..both the parents are 6/7 yr old so have stuck at it ...so as good a chance as any type?3 points

I’m surrounded by forestry, the difference between forestry and natural woodland is obvious and shocking. I own a 3-4 acre natural wood, there is a diverse range of plants on the woodland floor, light can penetrate and generally everything does what it should. In amongst the forestry, nothing lives !…….it’s a lifeless desert on the ground. It wrecks the land.3 points

I have faith we are going to have abit of a reset in this country at some stage. We carnt keep going down this road of pandering to the kinda snowflake and woke way of looking at everything. Where u carnt disagree with or criticise anyone , where u are pushed to be ashamed of our history and heritage and anyone who disagrees with it and speaks out against it is immediately a racist or homophobe or any other “ist” or “phobe” u wanna pull out of thin air. Cos I really believe that this way of thinking is in reality a small minority. Yet we seem to go down this road more and more and pande3 points
