My family ran an animal feed business for a long time and didn't take me long to realise that it was the same small group of men who had the best livestock no matter what they kept, when they kept lurchers their dogs were top class, pigeons, they won everything, trotting horses, won everything again etc. On getting to know them, I realised that they only used, tried and tested lines, fed the best possible feed, and most importantly, didn't keep hold of an average animal whilst kidding themselves that they could make it a world beater. I don't know him personally but AS is a good ex7 points

My wife is currently working in NY. Her hotel is about a block away from Ground Zero. Last weekend she did the tour at site and sent me some pictures and there are two that stick out. The wreck of Ladder 3 and picture of 'Cowboy' the search and rescue collie stood on twisted steel. I do think people are forgetting. I think it's humanity's super power as well as it's curse. It's how we move on but also why we keep making the same mistakes over and over. Anyone under 20 won't have the full scope of this one and when we're all gone it will be an excuse to go on the piss, the true meaning los6 points

Today I was protecting drillings again. The last 2 days I have watched this field and there have been 2 to 300 corvids on it so was looking forward to a red letter day. On arrival though there was no birds about ? but it was only 10 am. I always sit it out all day expecting the birds to show up eventually. Anyway movement was slow but I shot really well taking most birds that ventured in range. I shot the best woodie I have ever shot , I took a right and left with the 1st bird at 40 yds and the 2nd at 60yds and it was stone dead , dropped like a brick, I was over the moon to say the least ? I have three Tikka rifles and wouldn't consider anything else. When i come to replace any of my other non Tikka rifles it will be with Tikkas again. I don't understand the fascination of people wanting to buy rifles from a country that lost two world wars.??5 points

Recently a lad in my town has re started the local fishing association after many decades without one. There's a few wild waters now, a stretch of Mon and brecon canal, my local village river and a water I've heard of a few times over the years called the olway Brook, a tributary of the river Usk. Never fished here before as its a bit unknown and had a major fish kill in 2014 roughly. Back in the day a prolific dace water. Well I went down yesterday evening, maggot, size 18 hooks and 4lb line with a stick float. No monsters, but bites every case, gudgeon and minnow. I know there's4 points

Being a sea angler there's a few things I look for - moon state, tides building or dropping, dropping pressure, cloud cover and water temp. Well all these seemed to tie perfectly tonight and we had an insane night catching smalleyes. Me and 1 lad met another mate down what is probably my favourite mark. There was 22 caught; 4 to me, 3 ton one lad and then my other mate had 15! We had 6 over the specimen weight of 9lb with my mate getting a further 2 over 10lb. We also had a small huss, a dog fish and a small eel. Definitely one of those nights we'll never forget.3 points

Watched a few different programs these last few nights on it all, brought the day back...I remember the day,and what I was doing...working and living on a golf course, stopped for breakfast ,went up to the club house and it was all unfolding on the TV.. everyone was sat there with their mouths open in total astonishment..nutts...that and coming home off my tits from god's kitchen and watching the news of Diana's death(thought it was all a sick wind up?) will stay with me for the rest of my life...my JFK moment like those who watched that unfold I suppose....3 points

Was just watching on the TV and it jogged the memory of watching it unfold. All of a sudden, all that talk earlier in the week about the validity of the war seemed silly…..if anything, we should have killed more of the fuckers.3 points

When did blacks start having the self respect to refuse a free ride and stand on their own record of behaviour ?3 points

I always listened to radio 4 in the van. Now it's constantly about feminist or ethnic issues. Every documentary program is about empowering black women or book of the week is always written by an afghan woman or a black sportsperson. The other week some program was about how we are attracted to blonde white women because of embedded racism. If I could take the radio out of the van like you used to be able to I would throw it out the window and use the space as a bacon butty holder.3 points

With most Lurchers we go off parents alone, because we usually know next to nothing of the pedigree behind them, or we cant trust what we are told. Colby the famous American APBT breeder would breed from bitches in their first season and be confident of a good outcome. His breeding was very tight and made up of very game if not dead game dogs. What happens a lot in Lurcher or terrier breeding is people are continually disappointed after putting two good grafters together but getting poor results. What they need to do is study and read up on Mendel and basic genetics to understand Dominant3 points

Back out a Kev’s today done a bit of here and there ferrets and dogs worked well, wasn’t easy today but with a bit of persistence we managed a few Enjoy guys.3 points

If a line/type of dog all had similar traits and stamp, I’d breed off a litter mate that wasn’t proven. For example, I had a very well bred coursing dog, bred from some of the best dogs at the time. All the pups looked the same, just like the parents etc. Now the dog I had, lost his nuts due to cancer. If I had a bitch and I was really wanting to use him as stud, but now I can’t, I would use his litter brother that went to a pet home and was nether worked. I would take the risk , as this pet dog would have the same DNA as my top coursing dog.3 points

I personally just like their attitude, and how they are to have about as dogs. Different strokes for different folks but I find I just get on with bull blooded dogs.3 points

What makes you think they are pissing “millions” of People off ? Forums like this ain’t a microcosm of the wider world, they are a microcosm of a microcosm of the wider world. If anyone gave a shit really in enough numbers we wouldn’t even be having this conversation.2 points

I don't think they are naive enough to believe they are not pissing millions of people off with this forced diversity bollocks. Surely they understand that in their quest to spread tolerance they are only causing more division!?!? To most folk race rarely comes in to people's minds until it is forced down their neck! Maybe they are that far up their own arses they don't care what the backlash is but like Brexit, they may be in for a big shock.2 points

You can have class dogs and their lesser brother is a better producer ?? And if you buy pups off strangers, there is only so much you can know and it's fingers crossed2 points

The m18 is just a cheaper version of the m12, the components are slightly inferior to the m12, this in not to say it won’t kill things, there’s very few rifles out there that are not up to the job ( maybe HOWA ) it all comes down to what you want it for, like SL my rifles are a tool to do a job and I use tikka, 1 because they are nice to shoot once you have found a round that suits it ( very accurate) and 2 because they have market share over here, so if you have any problem with it a good RFD will have no problem sorting it quickly for you ( saying that, I’ve never had a problem with a tikka2 points

Most dogs would throw in the towel sooner or later if pushed too much. It's knowing your dog, knowing dogs and not knowing dogs that can make or break a dog.2 points

Or if still alive use his sire, after all his sire is the proven producer ?2 points

No mate, re: the adverts, it’s an actual directive that they have to show a disproportionate amount of black people. And I dont believe the constant “mixed race” narrative is as innocent as you think but that’s just my opinion. Imho it’s purely to normalise the genocide of white British people.2 points

As long as she does as she’s told I’d take her, if nothing else it’s company for you. I wouldn’t expect a lurcher to be cast out and hunt back to you but Banting back in with you (under control)she should be ok.2 points

A couple of photographs from mid 1980's, at Braes O' Derwent hunt show I think. Topography doesn't look right as kennels are on top of a hill but for some reason that's where I think it was. The slightly short docked terrier in the middle was mine. Very well bred. The lines that at the time were being exported around the world and most notably to USA. The lines that were the foundation stock of the KC Parson Jack Russell that was later changed to Parson Russell. Bred for work not show though. My bubble was burst one day when bothering a man who had seen, done and dug everything, who2 points

What did he do with all the jackers?.. Every dog has a breaking point...seen plenty fail..but a change of owner, proper rest, good grub, exercise and some never put a foot wrong again..some folks will always end up with jackers/shit dogs.. because they just don't have a clue..some will always get the best from a dog, they know to work to their strengths, they will know when it's had enough or will go again-they not concerned about what others may say or think...those same folks will also tell you the faults of said animal(they all have them)...I've met one or two over the yrs but they ARE FE2 points

They look inside a deer fence ? And those parkland trees. Also it’s grazed down hard and browned which is unusual for deer especially in a year like this where it grows well.2 points
