  1. Bred down from afew generations, used mainly for digging out possums, 10 years old now and still going strong.
  2. Parson russell out of the Minehead hunt kennel breeding.
  3. He must of got hot digging in that clobber!
  4. Looking at purchasing a decent waterproof action camera for filming the dogs working, close up action to terriers on a dig and on open country hare coursing. Likely to be a gopro, but not sure if that can do both close-up and far away (lack of a zoom). Currently using a cheap fujifilm xps, but the zoom is loud as when watching on film. A bit of image stabilization would be good, what the the dogs moving quick. Also, quick question, can you take a still action shot from a video file? Say the point the lurcher connects to a hare on video? Cheers, G
  5. Personally, I'll never castrate a dog again, a bitch, yes, but not a dog...unless its due to health reasons such as cancer. Having a bitch done didn't effect her working abilities, in fact it prolonged it as she wasn't coming into season every 6mths. Had my Russell dog castrated after about 18mths, he was a right b*****d when a bitch was on heat, he'd park his arse outside the bitches kennel and whine all bloody day/night, did my head in. Anyway, after getting his nackers loped off, he started piling on the weight, had to constantly watch what he ate and his prey-drive was reduced, probably du
  6. I can see that, hes huge, that's a fair sized noggin hes got, is he fat or just heavily built?
  7. That's abit bloody rotten, what a pack of losers, nice looking russells thou. Get after the buggers, get ya dogs back and dish out some justice on them. I'd heard a strong magnet will delete information on a micro-chip, sounds rubbish but possible. Good luck finding them and let us know if you do.
  8. You guys mentioned feeding your dog 3-4 hours before heading out for a mornings ferretting, that would mean getting out of bed at 3, 4am in the morning to feed the dog, bugger that. Best give it supper the night before, just my opinion. As for abit of the night time activities, I'd just give the dog its normal evening meal at around 4-5pm and maybe a recovery meal on the return home, depending how hard the night was, but to be honest, my dogs are not that keen on a feed straight after a hunt, prefer a kip then a feed.
  9. Just a quickie, how many of you guys feed your dogs before a hunt? I like the dogs to have abit of food in their stomach. Just curious.
  10. Bugger, that's bloody sad news, life certainly throws the occasional curve ball. I know its early, but the best thing to do is get back on the horse and soldier on, just moments like this that make you think if its worth it, all the best.
  11. One other thing, chicken frames are fecking cheap and heaps of meat on them, dogs love em and I've never had a problem with bones.
  12. Bought mine fresh straight from the abattoir's backgate, took me fecking ages to hack up into edible pieces for the dogs, stunk to the high heavens, but man the dogs nearly took me hand off at feeding time, had to count my fingers make sure I hadn't lost any. Now I buy it in kilo bags, minced and in medallion's, a lot easy to handle, easy to defrost the night before and probably easier for the dogs to digest. All my dogs and ferrets did well on it, but I also buy decent dry food to supplement the tripe, the best thing about tripe is the small black dog shits on the lawn, less waste, so the do
