I might be getting a bit tin foil hat. Perhaps thl arguments are getting to me. But are things really adding up in Afghanistan? First the Taliban sweep across the country in days while facing a western trained and armed Afghan army. Now with all our men on the ground, backed up with air power we didn't sweep anywhere. You simply don't sweep anywhere in Afghanistan. You fight over compounds and mountains inch by bloody inch. We heard about fighting between Afghan army and talliban but we actually saw very little of it, if any. No reporters on the front line???? No week long fighting6 points

What ever you want to say about Afghanistan ..... everyone who invades it ends up regretting it. They always seem to lose in the end. For a bunch of Stone Age folk they seem to do ok in a scrap.4 points

With each other - they're a feudal bunch of nutters. They'll start remembering grievances from way back and then, little mobs will start looking to settle those scores. They won't be in joy for long - they'll soon f**k it up. It's why the place still looks like it's only 2 steps away from the stone age.3 points

You're really biting today, stop getting so defensive about your dog. This is the Afghanistan thread incase you forgot. If you want to set up "My Mummy wouldn't let me have an APBT so I got a fat Designer Bully" thread we can discuss it there.3 points

I don't know why they don't destroy the gear they leave, but I guess it's a simple case of economics to the planners; it would cost more to bring home than what it's worth. I remember after the gulf wars the Brits left loads of materiel in Saudi. I heard of some landrovers being left at a village near where I lived, so a couple of us drove out to see them. There was a dozen landrover air portables and SAS gun platforms, brand new, delivery mileage All runners. My mate bought an air portable, with brand new spare tilt, from the headman of the village, for around £1200 and sent it bac3 points

No one will ever turn that place or those people civilised overnight - that'll take a lot of time and effort. When some of those people come here and bring their old ways with them, they carry on in secret because they know it's illegal. Now that western troops are leaving, those types of Afghan will just crack on again - it'll be gays thrown off buildings and beheadings in the market square soon. I stand by what I said earlier - there will be a short period of calm then, it'll descend into its modus operandi of medieval chaos under religious tyranny.2 points

The fact NI is a British territory is why our boys were sent out here . Left us all to it ?? So the persecution of British citizens is ok as long as it's not on the mainland ? What about the Falklands should our boys of been there ? Like I said Northern Ireland is nothing like Afghanistan ..2 points

You need to decide if it is to be a springer or pcp but if a pcp, BSA do a junior stock on their Ultra model which can be updated later to an adult stock, lightweight and well priced. I am not the one to suggest a suitable springer for a junior so will leave that to others. It might be worth stating what your budget is as there may be some very good second hands guns that our members may have to sell plus it helps us offer better advice. Phil2 points

I think Afghanistan will go through a period of calm. The Taliban seem to be saying the right things about peace and power sharing, they are even suggesting women should carry on with their education. I think they will be much cleverer about how they conduct themselves, doing the correct things publicly and as you say, upping heroin production and giving a home to isis in the background2 points

Now going to be social media checks on applicants because of this. Opens up a whole new can of worms, what guidelines will they be using to see what sm postings make you unsuitable for a licence? Cheers, D.2 points
