A line is only worth its name if it used extensively,...poor performers need to be removed and young stock should only be offered to men that can enter them sensibly, and test them to the full over a few seasons,...otherwise, the actual phrase means nothing...? I've bred a few pups, and I could have bred and gifted dozens,.but as a commercial breeder of lurchers once told me, " Phil, you will never make a dog breeder, because you ask too many questions, of a prospective customer"... I rated his remarks as a great compliment....?18 points

I do wonder what my grandparents would have made of the current climate . It’s not just a different time , it’s a different planet13 points

I'd say that just about every single person that had knocked on a door and asked for permission has received the same response at least once ! Rabbits , deer, foxes have become anthropomorphised by books, films and tv in many people's minds and are seen as cuddly little characters, not pests. Hunting with dogs IS seeen as barbaric these days by many who's only knowledge of the countryside is a walk in the local park ! Be happy that you have some permission, and can take a few rabbits off the other place without too much hasle ? Cheers.8 points

I had first cross from him about the same time but from Ginger in Golden Valley, couldn't find the place on the map, borrowed mother's Chrysler Sunbeam cos it was better/newer than my Marina van lol Cheers, D.7 points

Two main issues 1. The wrong people now own a large chunk of the countryside 2. A lot / most lads with Lurchers are bell ends6 points

I've had three 1st cross whippet/greyhounds of that size, and they were very good, tough, honest, versatile dogs. It's a cross/type I get on well with, nothing too complicated. ?6 points

Should this breeding program not be considered a "type", rather than a "line" ? Cheers.6 points

by the way i would be a bit weary of using a coursing bred irish grey these days...they are bred now just to sprint to the first bend on the hare on a park....bloody great big muscular things.... personally i think you would be better with a smaller staying track dog thats free from injurys over a long career6 points

My younger bro's birthday is looming, again. He's a fukking head banger, beneath that veneer of normality. It's shown itself in the cards he's been sending my, for about the last twenty years now. Never fails to crack me up, the shit he finds to throw at me ? So, of course, I always strive to match him. He sends me random shit. But, as he's latterly become completely mad about dogs, I now focus on finding him dog related cards. But Not, of course, 'cute puppy with a wrapped present in its mouth' shit. No. I like to give Him a hard time back! Here's this years belter! I think Any5 points

Yep, all you'd be doing is pumping out first x whippet/greys. Might have your name as the breeder, for example 'hancock lurchers', but it's not a line, just a 'type' or cross.4 points

Apparently katchum was in court for having sex with a cat. The judge threw the case out, he said no way had a jock ever put something in a kitty.4 points

Right if I breed a whippet x greyhound they are excately that...whippet x greyhound... If Carl breeds a whippet x greyhound this year they are bowline long dogs ?4 points

I could just steam into that right now mate!! My mrs has taken the girls out for lunch whilst i get a few odd jobs done.. and there's f@@k all food in the house. I've just had to drink the juice out of a tuna tin to stay alive!!..?4 points

Carl forgive me if I sound negative but that doesn’t sound like a true line if the final product is a half bred or 3/4 bred there not even a line at all it sounds just like Hancock dogs for sale but instead of collie greyhounds there whippet greyhounds ??It sounds as if your trying to model a business enterprise on Hancock Lurchers not produce a line4 points

Me and a mate met some valley lads at the WC in 1987, got an invite and went down twice. Gave us digging, coursing and lamping. Pretty much on top all the time but they lads don't give f**k ? Superb hospitality in their homes to what were ostensibly a couple of strangers. Welsh Valleys boys are salt of the earth but f***ing crackers ? Cheers, D.4 points

Listen boys let's forget the foolish bantering I on my part was just winding you up and anticipateing who would rice for the bite hard ...just as I predicted. Wham bang my rod so to speak bent like a bow....no I don't believe I breed the best by a.ong way because to be perfectly honest and truthful I Don't!!!!!!I am however breeding a 2nd phase of whippet x greyhound longdogs...its just a hybrid of my choosing, a wham bang merchant which has limitations just like any other lurcher type or longdog hybrid. A longdog that suits me and perhaps others??? Yours in sport carl Williams Rhondda S4 points

Lads, it’s like this.....we can all say how f***ing sick and twisted these people are but we ain’t outraged enough to give up our bit of entertainment every week ! We are paying hundreds of millions in TV subscriptions and merchandise to have our multi millionaire sports stars, dressed head to toe in our clubs colours kneel down to this type of shit every f***ing week ! Lee Rigby ?.......we don’t care enough to even switch off the f***ing telly !3 points

Mrs sorts out the cards in my family but i do get my brother stupid presents for christmas these days . One year i got him a lifesize cardboard cutout of nicholas cage and last year i got him a cliff richard calender3 points

My thoughts also. The only gain from creating a "line" using only those two breeds would be if your ideal is a dog mid sized between a whippet and greyhound with nothing else added. Would negative the variation in size that you get in 1st and 2nd cross litters. Must admit the 23/24" grews are cracking types.3 points

All this led me to find the following. Frankly; One of the best and most startlingly informative narratives I've ever seen, about Jack. I sat and thought about it. What should I do with it? 'General Talk' would probably get it massive views. But, then; Such saturation coverage always throws up the imbeciles: " We once watched a skin diver sent to put a fish on his hook! " Or, " My mate said he saw him shoot a pregnant fallow doe, on an estate near here! ". I just cannot be doing with Bollocks. Especially when the kunts talking it offer not a shred of evidence to back their false3 points
