  1. Well , yours truly is off on his last holiday before the birds come , off to sunny Dorset , or maybe not so sunny ? The good lady wanted to do some baking and so I was sent to see my mate at the free range poultry farm and get a couple of trays of eggs . No money changes hands for my fox control , he says “don’t go buying eggs , you can have as many as you want” , and I hold him to it . All my family and neighbors never buy eggs . But the tight git doesn’t give me grade A eggs they are the rejects , the odd shaped shells or gritty shells , but they taste the same I suppose. Anyway , I digress

  10. Well, after six/seven pages it seems a few folks have seen lab lurchers run and I can't recall a bad 'review'? What they lack in speed I'd expect they'd make up for in durability and train-ability.

  13. A very old photograph of a Bedlington, the man is Joseph Aynsley, a stonemason who is credited as the founder of the breed. Compare the size of his stonemasons hand with the head of the dog on the right. That is some lump of a dog, a wide skull with a pronounced stop.

  16. I had a couple of hours spare today so I decided to try forge welding a knife out of old chainsaw chains which I had cut into 5 inch pieces ..... Welded them together in 2 stacks of 9 pieces then welded the two stacks together to make a nice billet so burned off all the oils and impurities then spent the next couple of cycles fluxing the billet Before forging it out ... I got plenty of heat into it and I felt as though it had all come together well. But when I ground it down although the pattern was real nice I could see there were to many cracks through the billet.

  21. Its been said already on this thread and its the only answer that is right... money and dogs shouldnt come into the equation, no matter what breed of dog it is from an earthdog to a springer and every type of working dog in between... if you have to look for money off another man with the same interest as you that will give the dog the work well then your at nothing. Some day you might want the favour returned. Its hard enough find decent dogs off good stuff without having to pay stupid money. There will be money after us , it will come and go, as soon as money comes into it greed takes over

  25. Joshua should have fought outside the UK earlier in his career like most other fighters do but Hearn and Joshua had it too good over here with sold out Stadiums and then tapping into the PPV market. Hearn was adamant ,why should we travel ? Joshua is the unified World Champion ! Then the Povetkin fight did not sell out and the PPV numbers where also down, plus the fact that they could not find an opponent for the Wembley slot in April. So the decision was made to fight at MSG in America and we know what happened then .

  31. And i think that backs up what I've just said, Joey dawejko has no business sparking AJ in sparring i guarantee AJ was sauntering round more interested in making it look like he didn't have to try hard to better him than actually doing it.

  32. when I was a kid there was a first cross saluki greyhound called brin he belonged to alan hickman, and was half brother to my first dog, he roamed the village all the time and was responsible for more than one litter of handy mongrels lol.

  33. Excuses. If 5foot 10inch Joey that weighs 240 can spark him. Then it shows he can't handle a small fat guy that doesn't get pushed back. Why the fcuk was he hard sparring on fight week. If injury was an excuse then he should be shouting from the rooftops for a rematch. He wasn't. He was deflated and has a rematch in his contract but couldn't answer did he want it or not. He knows that the fat little Mexican found him out and would beat him twice. Furey would school him and wilder would spark him. He's like a rabbit in the headlights and doesn't know where to turn. He quit on his feet. That's h

  42. I have posted this before on THL but have always loved the photograph. I find it interesting on several levels. Not least being the quality of the terriers. I have no doubt that they were the Fox Terrier of the day. How could breeders and judges of the present Fox Terrier compare the dogs in this picture with their own and think that they have improved them? To me it beggars belief.

  45. To be fair it is right that a lot of issues on shoots are caused by labs kicking off but as a percentage it’s still pretty low. Out of interest. The picture on the forestry track is the Bitch I have in mind and one on the concrete is her full brother. they are both absolute machines out working. Entirely accept that they are unlikely to be a flat out coursing dog, it’s more a mooching, ferreting, bit of lamping and ideally a bit of picking up if possible - proper all rounder and train ability is important. Hadn’t thought of trying to keep them lighter with some saluki, was th

  47. It doesn't matter if its a terrier, lurcher, retreiver etc with out our dogs there is little we could achieve. How do you put a price on them, people on here try to make out there just tools not worth £500 for a dog. But what about when your in the pub recounting tales of a epic dig that took hours to find the dog nose to nose doing you proud, or a difficult runner that retrieved text book infront of a line of guns, the lurcher that fills pot day or night. When you can spends hours telling stories of past and present dogs for hours there are priceless in my opinion.
