Got home from work early yesterday two digs in the same hedgeline ??

My mates got an r reg corsa van no mot or no tax said it’s got few chips on paint work but so has the dog on his face he’s willing to swap for the dog

I’ve seen a young dog come away at 14 month old and bounce out of a hole playing with the other dog that was tied up as if it was some sort of game, the same dog made it into old age as a good digging dog. Maybe a better terrier man would have put the dog down immediately? Macho bullshit results in empty kennels, I’ve seen a dog that was wanting work from 10 months old turn out a coward and on the other hand a dog that never entered until he was 19 months old be the hardest dog I’ve ever seen. There’s too much of a grey area to be making rash decisions with first season dogs.

This dog started after he was 2! Was getting to the point when I was leaving in the morning even the thought of bringing him out put me in a bad mood! Then d day arrived and u would swore he knew, in he went and ain’t looked back since lol but this dog has more chances than enough!

For an amateur terrier lad it’s a pretty simple scenario, ignore the big mouth macho men who had a dog from this line and that line and it was shit blah blah blah and instead watch the man that sticks with his own line, always has digging dogs and just gets on with the job and copy what he does. Like has been said, who are we to say when a dog is ready? It’s all personal opinion. I’ve got a dog here that is 7 month old but he’s the same height and weight as 2 of my working dogs, does that mean he’s ready? Of course not, he’s physically the right size to work but mentally he’s still a pup. Who’s to say at 14 month, 16 month, 18 month he’ll be mentally ready to work? It’s up to me to show trust in the breeding and give the dog time to show me what he is going to be. Rather than wait for him to fall at the first hurdle.

One of the saddest things to me in fieldsports is dogs getting pushed from pillar to post, some people shouldn't be allowed to own a hamster let alone a dog....

My 2p worth if I bring out a youngster and he or she doesn't enter or show much interest then no harm done terrier either not ready or not going to do the job in hand but at this stage it has done nothing wrong.now if I bring one out and it enters and finds and works its quarry for a time then comes away well straight away there is a question mark over said dog but will be given a chance to prove me wrong but not many chances if it continues the same its bye bye.

Ain’t nothing macho about being disappointed about a young dog coming away, I was gifted a bitch pup 5 seasons ago reared and entered like every other terrier dug her on the 4th attempt she then went on to walk away from stuff not be able to find in the easiest of places till I could persevere no more and give her back to the lad that bred her and she continued to do the same till one day it all clicked for her and she’s now his main digging bitch so I understand that with some you have to stick at it.

It’s certainly a good start if you are keen to learn photography or will work easily enough as a point and shoot in full auto mode, I started out with a Canon 600D about 5/6 years ago... Whilst it’s easy to put everything in full auto it is definitely worth learning what the camera is capable of and unleashing its potential so to speak as you’ll end up with far superior images - YouTube can be your best friend... HW100 is a Weihrauch pcp rifle and possibly recommended by more people that any other gun..................................even if it is'nt the best or anywhere near, better get my tin hat on now even though FX is best !!!!!! It’s an open forum for discussion, everyone has different opinions, there’s no need to get so hot under the collar about it. Back to your post HowDeep, what I’m trying to say is some terriers can start flying and slowly fade away to rubbish whereas a spooky starter or one that doesn’t look too keen can end up a world beater once the penny drops. Lads are too quick to judge a young terrier on one or two digs, I’d always say give them a until the end of their first season before making hasty decisions IMO.

Why not turn the pup down instead of having it for having its sake?? Or give it away to someone that can be vouched for that will give it a good home and graft???? Genuine question..
