  2. Had an early start with a mate of mine , cold crisp northerly breeze , heavy frost .It turned into one of those days where everything stopped to look instead of running ..two doe’s, yearling and two buck fawns paid the price .I’ll finish the doe’s at the end of the month , I’ve never been a fan of march doe’s ....the youngsters are destined for the freezer ..

  6. I suppose it’s like anything else, we all like to think we would fix bayonets and charge blindly into the fray........but until you are on the ground and in the reality who knows. 6 minutes is barely enough time to access the situation and decide on a course of action.......this officer would have been just as useless dead I suppose. By the time he had made a plan of action it’s all over. This smells a little bit like the media trying to rubbish the armed person / first responder in a school idea.......and they will happily make this poor dude a pariah to suit their politics.

  7. Well I got out for a few hours today lads with the newly zeroed Pro Sport. I put a hide up by a tree that I know gets pigeons dropping in and waited. Just 5 minutes in and a Magpie was sat in the highest branches, the strong wind had him bouncing and riding, leaving him with a reversed Mohican feather cut to the top of his head and me with a " just missed". So we waited and waited and waited when I noticed the tiniest flicker, - tells me my concealment is good A hawk just 28 yds off.

  10. The officer was out gunned granted but not massively one on one and he was trained whereas the kid was just a lunatic ... throw in screaming kids running around wild and in hysterics and you have a shitstorm ... but the cop knew the school inside out and would know where the shooter was and how to get to him or cut him off ... one man isn't going to go running in all rolling on the floor and shooting from the hip like Rambo ... BUT he could have steadily made his way into that school to where the shooter was staying in cover and attempted to neutralise the threat ... but he didn't and that for

  11. The difference is wilf he is trained to do this job ... he will have had firearms training he will have done hostage training armed attack scenarios put in situations where he has to think quickly and asses the situation formulate a plan and act on it .... he didn't do any of that he fell apart and froze whilst he listened to kids getting killed ... he will rightly carry that shame and guilt with him like a ball and chain for the rest of his life ......

  14. The bottom line as I see it anyway is that this cop wasn't an ordinary member of the public who happened to be carrying a gun and was wandering on by ... he was paid to do a job which was to protect that school and everybody in it from just such an incedent ... he will have had extensive training in all manner of scenarios and situations and the drills should have been second nature to him ... should he run in all all guns blazing with a bandana on his head ... of course not ... should he have gone in tactically using cover to advance to the shooter getting as close as he could to either kill

  15. I would not believe anything that comes from the media without being able to substantiate it. Let the investigation run it's course then all will become evident. The above media report says " peterson who stands over 6ft tall was outside the building for four minutes" what has his height got to do with anything? unless they are trying to say the taller the man the braver he should be? media have the nasty habit of a creating juicy headlines in the heat of the moment to sell papers.

  17. A bitch killing another bitches pups is not uncommon in all breeds of dogs nor is a bitch eating her own pups if there was an outside threat such as another bitch looking in. It's an ancient territorial instinct.

  18. Don't go too far in the tall and racy departmental, as it don't necessarily go that you will get something 1/2 way between. Use a stud that would be a dog you'd own ,and would do everything you want. Maybe the same cross as the bitch but showing the traits you want. Just adding greyhound will add speed for sure ,but may not be as robust or sensible so as well as adding speed you could be adding recklessness too. A lurcher that has had a good handful of seasons without too many injuries and a good catch rate ,would come before a dog only with speed to offer.

  20. If you see something you like and you can give it a fair chance to blossom then why not ? I wouldn't advocate doing it when there's other options on the table, much better to find a well bred pup and put some time and effort into it. It's a long story how I came by Jess but the short version is I gave it a chance because I was going professional and it would at least give a decent terrier a rest when she was out instead. I chucked everything and kitchen sink at the bitch, it sounds c**t' ish but she didn't mean anything to me so I just kept piling on the graft. She never missed a bea

  21. a 40lb is a joke I shot 1 .I think it was last year it was nearly 22lb and it was nearly as big as the roe we shot earlier in the day used it to get the fox in . maybe if I had shoved a case of carts down its throat I might have got it to 40lb

  28. My old man had kennels when we were growing up. 2 dogs came in for boarding. An adult and a pup. The owners were hell bent on them sharing a kennel and my old man advised that they hadn’t known each other long enough. The owners were adamant and they went in together. Early morning we went in to walk and clean the kennels......only the one dog in the pen! Adult dog had killed and eaten the whole thing. The only thing left was a bit of skin and some fur. Try explain that when the owners come back from holiday!

  35. I remember my old man getting a Russell bitch of a old dear she'd been killing neighbours cats the final straw was she got in a garden and killed some chickens and his pet rabbits so he got him for my brother for rabbiting first day out of we go she took to it like a duck to water second day she fly's to ground afox bolted straight away but patch is still below so being the youngest I'm sent home with a few threats to be quick for a spade as I got back they managed to get her and a dead fox we weren't allowed to take her out after she became one of my old mans digging dogs always sat in the f

  38. Oddly enough something I have personal experience of. its nothing new, schools were doing this 30 years ago. i remember me and my pals all tramping up to the barber on the last day of the summer holidays and getting tram lines and all sorts shaved into our Barnet. Hey pesto, first day back, suspended and another 4 weeks off !! I was expelled at 14 and left school for good, so my “free as a bird” attitude didn’t exactly add to my education ! Lol Fast forward 30 years and I actually think it’s a good thing that schools make rules about dress, hair etc........ Its t

  39. To he guy who started this topic, sorry for your loss. To the bloke who supposedly torched someone's car and beat them up.....LOL! Running a dog over is upsetting but an accident and is not illegal. Assault and arson are. Admitting to both on a public forum either means you are lying or soft in the head and desperately want to be arrested. Give your head a wobble mate.
