Went out first thing this morning and walked the fields . On my way round a hare was laying down and did not move but still alive back to the van and brought a bottle and poured a few drops on the poor thing’s mouth. After a while it raised up, started to run down the field but kept stopping and turning and raising it’s paw as if thanking me. When I checked the bottle that I had assumed was water, it turned out to be hair restorer with a permanent wave9 points

Bert was old school,..and same as myself, he could not abide fraudster, liars, and users,....and to his credit,... he always made his feelings known... I enjoyed his company when we met, and I've still got a heap of old correspondence that he sent to me, written in his own unmistakable script. How good it was to have his support,.. at a bad time in my life,...Bert Gripton, gone but not forgotten...8 points

had a good season so far with my hunting buddy (the scruffy fella with the beard) and my son with plenty of craic so i thought i would share a few pics. the big stag with the funny nose i roared him about 3/4s of a mile out of a forest to within 100 yrds of us with a coke bottle with ends cut off and he came running to us.5 points

We managed to get out for an hour again today, After a comment about trusting the dog we decided to take the pup out with us. The lad had his 410 again we ended up with another pheasant, then a squirrel which i shot and whilst it was still clinging to the tree george lifted the baikal and quickly finished it off at 25yrds again. When will he miss and stop showing me up?? Anyway the exercise was to give the pup some on the job training which she got!! Retrieved all 3 kills. So impressed! Youngratter.5 points

Phil Drabble was never an anti. He championed the working dog and the working dogman. Quiet rightly he had no time for the scumbags who destroyed it for all of us. In fact, he was a bit of a visionary.4 points

Kong is the brother to my other hob and just hit 8 months and hasn't been out yet so today I decided to give him a whirl as one of them is getting the snip next year just a question of who. The dog was lame on his toe after yesterday so today was a good opportunity to walk a couple of fields that are surround by a dual carrageway and an A road on the other side. Even on a lead he is a god send. We started walking around the edge and there was scent about but nothing at home. We were nearly done and heading back along the last bit when typically a rabbit hopped out in fr4 points

So on monday evening i took the eldest lad to the local gun shop and got him a baikal single .410 for the grand total of £75... absolute bargain! So each night this week ive taken him up the farm for a few shots which paid off! Today we went out and first field a pheasant ran and as it was about to get up he shot it at 25yrds. He was shaking with adrenaline! Then we headed into a wood where the dog insisted the was something up a tree, eventually i saw a squirrel in a fork, as i stooped down to show him where it was, off it went like the clappers so4 points

Took my classic combination out for a few hours today. FWB Sport mk1, Tasco 4x40 w/a ( 1978 set up ) Here`s the fixed ret` view as I check zero on a knurl on the tree trunk at 33 yds. Kaiser retrieving from the base of the tree. --- " Gotcha ! " Had to be very careful of trajectory and spindle branches but took two nice plump Greys for the table. Both squirrels were taken with heart / lung shots using F.A.P. - instant despatch ! Both prepared for the pot but I thought I would take the hide of one of them to try and tan it ,- I`3 points

I don't think it would have mattered if they did. There isn't enough interest in it anymore. Joe Soap couldn't give a flying f*ck and the act is so poorly written you can literally run an entire pack of hounds through the loopholes. The other good news is that because the public believes it to be done and dusted funding for RSPCA and LACS has dropped off significantly and even the moral champions at LACS are fiddling the books in order to keep afloat as they piss away donation money left, right and centre. We need to shut the f*ck up and learn the rulebook. Lads getting prosecuted could s3 points

Yes, I have done a few of these modified Victor's after seeing it done, Here Excellent little trap with a nice strong spring when modified, put a small piece of perspex to lift the spring up on the one's i did, and another little bit screwed on top to stop the springs moving, done some chinbar's with metal rod and some out of wood, also done the tunnel with mesh on some and others with thin plastic folded over to make a tunnel. The one in pic has no tunnel just a little cubby that slides over the trap. SINDASOX3 points

If the conservatives had got a majority they would of given a free vote. Hunting organisations didn't want the promise in the last manifesto at that stage. It won't be in the next manifesto. But the Conservative hiarachy do want repeal. They are the only party that will ever offer repeal and at the minute a vote for them is the only thing keeping corbyn out of number 10. I'm not a fan of May or many tories.... Or many mps of any party but the country has the government it voted for. Both the hunting world and brexit would be in a better place if they had won with a majority last time aro3 points

I'm the same, mate. I love the idea of treeing them with hounds but the only shot I want is on the camera with these kinda cats. Saying that where I live I wouldn't lose any sleep if I had to shoot one in self-defence. If people want to hunt for the pelt, meat, mount, whatever crack on just don't waste it.3 points

Plenty of fly by night w*nkers about, they want the best breeding but aren't willing to put the time and effort into them, always on the want for the next best thing and chopping and changing dogs. These fools usually come and go within 3 -4 years, but the damage they do and good pups they waste is a disgrace. Keep the circles tight, I'd rather put down pups than risk giving them to such people.3 points
