  1. thanks 4 replys guys, i did weigh him he was 93kg dressed he was only a small animal for the area and i new that when he was walking to me so good cull animal.
  2. went after the reds on 29th sep got to my spot early at 6am so my mate could get into another spot early. i had round hour and half before it was light enough to start to hunt, i could hear 4 stags roaring so was exited. as soon as it started to brighten up i started to stalk in, its round 2 km to the back of this property. not long after it got bright the stags stopped roaring but i layed down on top of a hill and let out 1 roar through a 1.25 ltr coke bottle, i got a reply immediatly and he was close round 400 hundred yrds. within 2 mins this fella appeared out of the trees at round 300 yrds
  3. got this fella a couple of weeks ago, i was watching a long rushy feild 500 yrds long running down hill with clear cut forestry on 1 side and young trees on other.i had seen deer a couple of evenings before but lost light before i could get a shot, i stalked down to the bottom of feild as wind didnt suit from top.it wasnt a great evening with heavy showers so i was only half interested. the light was fading fast so i started to make my way back up when i spotted a dark shape coming through the clear cut heading into my feild. he jumped the fence and moved into a thick patch of ruches and stopp

  6. had a good season so far with my hunting buddy (the scruffy fella with the beard) and my son with plenty of craic so i thought i would share a few pics. the big stag with the funny nose i roared him about 3/4s of a mile out of a forest to within 100 yrds of us with a coke bottle with ends cut off and he came running to us.
  7. nice shooting sussex, always enjoy reading ur posts. ur dogs coming on well by the looks.
  8. co mayo scudd, right out on the edge of lough mask. he was as far from any house or track as possible.
  9. was out weekend before last and got this buck, i pulled up at my permission at first light and the minute i opened the door i could hear him grunting, he was around 800 yrds away as the crow flies but between me and him was rough ground mainly 5 ft tall ferns that are dead but not rotted down yet. bucks rut here every year but i never venture in there as i no the only way to get a animal out is by dragging it as a quad wont even get in there. i thought i would have a go and worry about the drag if i got him. 1 hour and 15 minutes later i was within 100 yrds of him, he was on a small hill in oa

  13. ive had a good season so far so i thought id write about this hunt. i was driving to the next villiage last week when i spotted a sika stag grasing away 400 yrds up a hill, these deer are only 5 mins away from my home but we only take a couple a year to try to build the numbers up which they are, but there starting to get shot heavy again by other hunters so i decided to go for a stalk. i rang a mate whose never had a sika and he said hed be there in a hour. it was round 3.45 pm when we got up there and i dropped him off, i was just pulling away to stalk further around the hill when he waved m
