  2. Doing my rounds this morning and I was greeted with a pleasant surprise. A dog fox cub bouncing around in a wire . I don’t mess around with foxes in wires and quickly dispatch them , as I’ve had them break free when they panic at your arrival. It’s my first fox with my new Tikka 22lr ......does it still count?

  9. You’re doing the right thing, if you don’t think he’s ready then don’t run him. He’s your dog, you’re with him every day so you know what’s best. I’m talking from experience owning male saluki crosses & they can look like running machines but still be nowhere near mentally ready. You'll get told he should be doing all sorts by a certain age, cause someones mate had a dog that could do it so why can’t yours, etc etc. Just hold off. Patience never ruined a dog but rushing has ruined plenty. He’ll be 16 months in March if I’ve worked that out right, that’s when I’d give him a few of

  11. Aye , great dogs . Dont think I will get another . Family is distraught. But as you say , not many get to over 14 . . There was an argument over a £100 football polish lads had went up onto sport centre roof and retrieved it . The local lads had waited for the maintenance to get it on the friday . Anyway , they wouldn't give back ant tensions were high . I was walking bye with the pig whilst the poles were playing ( with said ball) . I opened the gate said give me the ball . When I got told to f**k off I simply gave a little lead . The bold fella went straight to him needless to say . The

  13. Honestly, I don’t know . I can’t say I’ve felt any massive benefit, but I don’t think it can do any harm to try . One thing I swear by is my copper bracelet with magnets in . I suffered with a bad back and cyatica and ultimately had an operation for a slIpped disc , I also have had a hip resurfacing operation. I was on ani inflammatory tablets and powerful pain killers and felt like crap . Someone said to try a copper bracelet . Now when you are in pain and I’m not talking about a bit of an ache but the kind of pain that wears you down and effects you wellbeing. You will try anythin

  16. My 9 month old saluki x grey, starting to switch on now and using his nose around sets. Raises his back leg when there home, only reason I've noticed this is because ive seen them bolt back down the holes. Hopefully we can have a go towards the end of the season, just so he can have a bit of fun and realise his job. He won't be ready fully until next season, but no harm showing him a bit of what's expected.

  22. No that’s a feral pigeon , the bird in the pic is definitely a woodpecker, even with the poor picture quality the fact the legs are so far back on the body makes it very easy to make out what it is, unusual to see one perched like that normally flat against a trunk of a tree hence the legs being so far back ???

  24. I used to get victory cartridges for everything either Starlight or europa perdix . On the marsh , rabbits , pigeon , pheasant. A very good cartridge . Like a lot of Gloucester boys we used to go and see an old boy called Bert Hussey who was an importer , and we got them at sensible money . His bungalow was a bit rough and ready and was a hub of local shooting gossip. He’s long dead now , but they were good days and he was the last of a generation of old Gloucestershire country men who lived life on their own terms .

  27. Little bitch is 4 1/2 months now, doing great. Clever little bitch. Had her out doing a bit of pest control the other day, farmer wanted a few taken off some silage fields. I decided to take her along for her first proper look out. She was fantastic, marking, very steady, anticipating bolts, just a pleasure.

  30. Had an interview today, this morning. But on the way called in a new construction firm that makes steel buildings. Did a weld test and start tomorrow. I cancelled the other place...long boring story. It was raining bad here today. I dont know what it is but in bad weather I am always drawn to a flintlock! Probably years of hearing folk say they are useless in the rain etc etc. I admit today that it was suffering from high humidity and after the first failure realized I needed to change the prime regularly. I got two rabbits between downpours. I missed two and a pigeon. I made smoke and lo

  35. By, you’ve got some hoppers around you ? I’ve been contacted today by our pheasant supplier asking if we’d take the birds early, so I’m guessing someone has cancelled their order, I’ve told him that we will be ready in a week and I mentioned about the price or could he chuck a few more in so we’ll see what comes of that, I’d better get some pellets ordered ?
