Well few more birds have hit the sticks last few days guys. Am really happy with the amount of young I've bred and quilty of the birds. I'm a big believer in quilty over quantity. Would rather have 1 stunning youngen than say 5 box standard types. These birds in these images are of what I mean by quilty birds and mutations from pied breeding.

Went for a walk down a river as a bloke told me there’s an osprey nest not far out of town (didn’t find it)but I was looking at a roosting barred owl,I sat near it when a pair of Pileated woodpeckers began working the deadfall trunks on the forest floor.These are big woodpeckers,Forest Galante did a program on them as they are at times mistaken for the extinct ivory-billed woodpecker.

Few weeks back me and my son who is 13 went on a 2 day military themed excursion . It was run by a local ex forces guy who runs a gym locally . It was without doubt one of the best things I have done with my son . Its called "[BANNED TEXT] of passage" and works along the lines of giving you and your kid focused time together away from gadgets etc We were the first group who have done this and as this is wales it decided to piss down all day . The original idea was camping in woodland but because of the severe rain we had our base camp in the local gym which is a large tin building .

Been a great year for this pair too first year that I've let them rear naturally with both of them rearing young. At first was abit of a nightmare due to cock bird being abit full on with young. Wanting to feed the young but being rough in doing so. Lads who breed will know what I'm talking about. Pecking away at the young to try get them to feed. But in not doing so he was getting frustrated with young. So I've moved him into a little cage in the flight just for a couple of days. After a few days introduced him back to which he was fine. Had Friday evening in the motorhome up the wye with my 2 lads..fish a chuck on feeder rods with the maggot feeders ,loads of chublets,bleak,roach,minnows and surprisingly loads of really good dace...no barbel,but i did have a few nice chub over 4lb after dark,was hoping to fish Saturday morning but it pissed down none stop all night and the river was up and roaring next morning

Got to the feeder at 0430 but didn’t see a squig until 7 .From then till 0930 ish it was non stop .Finished on 16 ,picked one up that a thought I’d missed .It went a few trees before falling out of view .

They’ll be free to come and go. There’s supposedly day trips, cricket matches, allotment tending, etc arranged for them . Theres an hourly free bus service into town for them and if they miss the last bus, there’s an emergency taxi service they can call to take them back for free. Cheers,
