  10. While I agree in principle....I don't actually want many hunting posts....I do plenty and I know other lads do plenty, I'm just not arsed about talking about it on the internet, how much talking can you actually do? I like the fact that thl has lots of lads with generally the same background or at least same outlook on life....we can then have a laugh and moan and blow of steam chatting shite. I enjoy thl how it is

  11. This all reminds me of an old friend of my Father's. Not a cabin, but a cottage, out in the middle of nowhere. Back in the 90's, my father used to do a lot of hunting, and fishing, and got in with this boyo that lived in an old cottage on the banks of the river Shannon. It was a very old house, probably his home house, where he grew up. Maybe his grandparents house. Now, we are talking 1990's, not 1920's, but this place looked and felt like you were stepping into another era. Big open fire with an old crane for cooking over. No electricity, so no fridge. Gas lighting, powdered mil

  24. This is a hunting site in name only now. Where are the hunting posts. There are discussions ABOUT hunting and dogs, etc, but no actual HUNTING posts. The forum with by far the heaviest traffic is General Topics. That will keep the site going, but with less and less people posting or joining. Shame, really, but that’s the times we live in, hunting is now seen as something terrible not something to be enjoyed ! Cheers.

  28. that comes from before everything mate being able to get about. love to be young again, different dogs and out regularly on land up down country, but it's not going to happen. older now but knocking about with little whippet types, little Jill, half dozen net's, catapult etc, it costs nothing and I am enjoying it as much as anything.

  31. No, nothing to do with it. Gin runs the Countryside Marquee at game fairs and Andy Kelly had a stall in it one year. Some people put 2 and 2 together and came up with 5 ! And sadly there was another lad lives in the same general area with the same name, but he is a top class , genuine dog lad, who had absolutely nothing to do with it but some thought they were the same person ! Cheers.

  32. I'm in a similar, though different, boat. I had a semi-forced retirement three years ago (at the age of almost fifty one) as the infant school where I'd been working as the in-house supply was "taken over" by the juniors next door. New broom and all that jazz. I can start drawing my teaching pension next year (when I turn fifty five). I'm loving being the house-husband. I could never understand the kids at school who were restless to get back to school after the six week summer holiday because they were bored. I could've spent weeks more, wandering the local fields and the disused railwa

  40. Obviously she will have her limitations to obedience, as she can’t hear you.. hand signals can be taught but obviously that’s only of any use when she’s looking at you. And she’s 4, so it won’t be as easy as training a pup.

  41. Understand that mate, got to protect the bit that's left! Lol Thanks, shame you can't make it, 10 years since the first one this year!! Perhaps finding a "home" at the fishery we use now has taken a little away from the Comp road show from before, but the owners make it our place for the weekend and that's hard to find... its still a great do, and over £30k raised over the years... THL has certainly done more good than bad for most of us, met genuine mates and had some great laughs over the years...

  42. Quite honestly I don't give a shit Paul, you and I both know forums like this are dying, we've had the best of it unfortunately. Again the pair of them rowing made no odds to me, I got enough to worry about in the real world to care about two blokes rowing on a forum, can only speak for myself mate, but it honestly didn't bother me... the same as it doesn't if they come back or not... Not digging at you, you've got to do what you see right, as I've said often, it's only yapping on the Internet...switch off if you don't like it
