What do people think the job of the special forces is ? Hearts and minds ? Build schools ? Give out food parcels ? No it’s to covertly close and kill the enemy, particularly those at the top of various organisations with the intent of disrupting their plans and organisation. The people being killed are planners, leaders bomb makers, by killing these people you are potentially saving the lives of dozens of soldiers on the ground. Dirty jobs have to be done, leave it to the boys who’ve got the stomach for it, they keep us all safe.11 points

Or maybe they feel a sense of pride in their country and have the balls to put the kit on and get in harms way. through my career as an infantry soldier I needed to know 11 different weapon systems inside out. Learn hundreds of nemonics and break down each part into its component meaning I was an instructor in over a dozen disciplines including being a mapric instructor specialist where you have to understand transverse Mercators and re grid a map using longitude and latitude, work a full array of signal equipment and use batco so the enemy doesn’t know what your saying. Lads... Devon and Cornwall is shit, no decent roads (unless you can drive backwards as well as forwards you never get anywhere!), hardly any wifi anywhere, cow shit everywhere, the locals have more fingers and toes than you can count, no underground, no uber... the list goes on... I strongly recommend everyone giving the South West a miss, there are far better places to go to and see....honestly...?8 points

I think you have to make a distinction between big operation combat units deployed en masse on the ground and highly specialised SF operatives who are getting sent to iron out the most dangerous shit c**ts on the planet…..sometimes you just have to rinse people !! We ain’t sending blokes with millions of quids worth of training behind them who live their life on 15 minutes to move to be cricket umpires…..we are sending them to do the violence that lets us sleep safe at night !8 points

I would like to see the bbc do a documentary on how Tony Blair ended up being worth £ 50 million. The Real war criminals are Bush , Blair and the people how controlled them .7 points

I'm talking out of my backside (no change there then) because I haven't heard her speak. But I'm guessing people like her anti woke views. Thats all very well, we all agree with that. But I'd like to hear one of the candidates talk about jobs, the NHS and the cost of living crisis. FFS we are worse off than in the fifties! I came from a family of 9. My dad was a docker. Mam didn't work. We always had food on the table. I never went hungry. Leccy was cut off a few times but it was always on within a few days or weeks. Buying eggs, milk and bread was no problem. People are now on the bones o7 points

If you compared the average 24 year old lad from your estate, with an infantry section commander , I think you’d be in for a shock . the fact you think like that , shows you have very little interaction with the army of today or recent past . 15 years ago , the blowing up of doors and room clearances was the domain of specialist units , nowadays that’s the average task for todays junior infanteer. Add in the command needed , leadership , the will to succeed , communication in radios , written and verbal format , the values imposed , the entire plethora of technicial and physical abil6 points

Watched last night Tomo knew most of the places on the South coast of Devon plenty nice little camp sites in the Southhams. Still miss the magazine, every month, thought somebody like dave sleight or darcy, might have kept up writing in a smaller style mag, over the yearsthere were some very talented lads contributing articles to it,any body know how dave harcombe, is fairing up health wise, like him or loathe him,the man did a damn good job of producin g that mag every month for years, i know were well governed on what we canwrite about on field sports these days, but we have all got to tread carefully to preserve whats left of the sport we love, take care lads and try to keep one step ahead.6 points

just reading the words panorama wrote in that report angers me... "and unassuming man"..."a bear of a man".... they are suggesting these men are innocent...which they could be...but equally they may not be... just stirring up shit making out our lads are guilty... to my way of thinking if you send the sas in to a place to kill terrorists ...then there going to do exactly that... jobs f****d ain't it6 points

Because he is too modest to do it, I can actually show you what my pal was at while on one of his multiple tours because somebody took the time to immortalise it on film…..don’t be a halfwit mate, we have one of them already5 points

I would say I'm white European or white British. I view Britain as a country and a culture, I'm proud to be British, i feel anyone whom is brought up here and lives in open society rural or urban can be British. But it fills me with dread to see huge swathes of towns and even cities unrecognisable as even being British , far to much immigration for our tiny island and the lack of integration must be, one impossible when they number so many, and it appears to be a take over as opposed to integration in many towns and cities. So I'm culturist , I don't wish to have islam or any Pakistani culture5 points

That chinook will have Been lifted in secs with A gang of lads in crye trousers inside ready to cause f***ing chaos at the drop of a hat they are our finest and deserve every inch of respect Lauded upon them . in reality , not many people know the sacrifices these ordinary geezers make , to be at the absolute pinnacle of their profession.4 points

I prefer Devon in the winter , half the country this way in summer , expensive over priced in lots of places. But we tend to avoid it , that said last week local pub had me got kids two pints of lemonade charged me six quid. Felt robbed. House prices mental, since London descended on the south west post covid.... But I'm here and kids are settled and enjoying school ,I shall find a quiet corner and live.4 points

you posted that to late ...born hunter is already down there acting the c**t...4 points

Not quiet as simple as that though is it mate, if you break into a 1 room hut and there’s 8 people, 4 of them have AK47s and 4 don’t then it’s fair to assume the 4 that didn’t knew the others had them and probably were in on it……guerrilla forces work with the help of the population, if they are in the same room then they are in on it !4 points

Mine get trout at least once a week, either just give them the whole fish or more often i mince the whole fish and freeze for later use. Good for the ferrets as well.4 points

West Country, Devon and Cornwall are pretty decent, although I've never bin to the scilly Isles, I did want to back along but cooled on the idea of late. Atlantic is keeping us a little cooler at the mo but still warm. Shortly off for a run, dogs can gallop and play in the surf whilst I plod around the coast.4 points

Sure makes me realize how many rabbits were about 30-40 years ago. Could pretty much walk in any direction and find rabbits. Never appreciated it back then. Would be paradise having the same again but not likely4 points

I know mate and I’m always sensitive about how I undertake these conversations with you because you are an extremely nice bloke. Just know that when I do talk about this stuff it’s without any hatred or ill will….it’s just what I believe. I don’t want to offend anyone on purpose, I just speak honestly. The good thing is that you are never a baby about it like some, you seem to understand that other people think differently and those thoughts won’t effect your life in the slightest ?3 points
-
Perhaps retire from work but not from life, have lots of interest and keep active. Bodies and brains are a bit like hinges, they soon rust over if not used regularly. In the end we don't always know what's around the corner so remember to live every day as u only die once and look for healthy years rather than numbers on the clock.3 points
-
At the moment, yeah I believe him. But I don’t believe his motivation for his honestly is anything other than wanting to pressure acceptance for all immigration.3 points

The difference between A and B roads. The B roads have two wheel tracks with grass in the middle The A roads are much the same other than having occasional passing places. Motorways are northern contraptions that don't exist in proper country.3 points
