Took the day off, been non stop lately.. Got out on the water with my lad, my brother and niece plus her boyfriend .. Loads of mackerel, few pilchard and a Gurnard.... drooped a big cuttle fish as well that took a pilchard live bait... Sun was up, the paddle out of the otter out of Budleigh was cracking... Then barbie time, fresh fish...can't beat it... promised myself I'm gonna take a few more days off, especially when the sun is up!!26 points

8 months or so now. Probably levelled out around 22-1/2” TTS. Can’t see her getting any taller but you never know. Hopefully turns into a decent little hunter/companion.26 points

One of the lads that works for me has been asked by the farmer he rents his cottage from to make use of a wood and lake that he has that is going to waste. So we have been down getting it sorted and ready to use. I will probably spend more time down there than in my house. Lake has got some real nice carp in it and there’s a chalk stream that runs along the back of the lake. Apart from running water it’s got everything you need. A place for eating a place for a fire pit a pizza oven and a compost toilet.16 points

So I’ve not been on here for a while but thought it would be only right to pop back in to say how gutted I was to hear this news yesterday. Still managed a good laugh on Facebook with Johnny like the good old days on here. Glad to say I managed to meet the man face to face and a proper laugh was had. R.I.P mate.7 points

Having grown up with John he was a lifelong family friend, was best man at my Brothers wedding and a work colleague to myself for the last few years. As young kids our little gang spent god knows how many hours tramping the mountains after rabbits with just my little Jack Russell to keep us company. We caught virtually nothing but spent all day laughing and ripping the piss out of each other - is there a better way to spend your formative years? We also had some great drunken times playing rugby for the village where John was a little tasmanian devil of a hooker, we didn't half rip the piss ou6 points

I remember the sports club at Aycliffe around the fishing lake my lurcher bitch was a Cnut for feather, she leaped into the lake while people were fishing and just mist a coot. All you could here was (there’s that f***ing dog again) and my border bitch ate this poor lads bait off the jetty.5 points

Not been on these boards for a while, thanks to Dave for letting me know this sad news . Johnny was the 1st fella I met at the very 1st fishing comp , introducing me to all the lads and making me feel most welcome! Over the years going to the comps he brought his young family with him and I have to say they are a credit to him. John was a very funny lad and without his good humour and quick wit I don't think the comps would of made half the amounts in the raffles. It was a pleasure to have known him as it is all the lads I've met on here. God bless you John R.I.P5 points

Had a call early this morning from jai and within seconds a text from Owain. Like most I only knew him from the comps. My boy Oliver thought the world of him. He had a heart of gold and was a real character. A lovely man with a lovely family and nothing was too much trouble. He went out of his way to make sure all the kids at the comp had a good time. Generous, great craic and one hell of an auctioneer! He will be missed and I pass on my condolences to his family and close friends. RIP John. Geth and all the family ???????4 points

Welp my GF has been talking to me allll wee about how we should go fishing in her uncle's lake so she can sow me how good she is at fishing. Lots of smack talk about how bad she was gonna out fish me , well guess who got whooped on her on water ? was a fun time regardless, really did a number on the redears and bluegill and their stupid fun on a 4' ultralight Think we ended up with 30 odd fish combined within a hour or two ?3 points

Drove to the emerald coast in Florida to do a little shark fishing.Bought some red snapper heads at fish market today. After dark we kayaked baits a few hundred yards out.I immediately had a screaming run that broke my line.I spent twenty minutes building a new rig.Kayaked the bait back out.5 minutes after making it back to land I had another screaming run. This time I let the shark run for a few hundred yards before setting the hook.It was a thirty minute battle but landed this six footer.Im pretty sure it's a bull shark. Its now 1230 a.m. my arms are cramping but I'm ready to drop another bait3 points

You can tell that a mile off mate. It costs me £100 to fill my truck up and about £150-200 a corner to put tyres on it. So I can’t put four new tyres on the truck for the cost of one of those pups ..... the tyres will last a year if I’m lucky but most likely one will go pop within a few months.3 points

Sup that to him mate ?... I raised him a wee bit of single malt tonight, a couple of spliffs and a whole lot of love ? Lifes' a hard and brutal thing.... as my grandma said to me, over my brothers grave (bitch! @ 87 years old and defo deserves her dues ?) "Only the good die young" Johnny will join Craigyboy, in the sense he'll bring different people together for the craic and charity and good things, i'm hoping the fishing comp will do what it was set up to do, give help and support, I'll get my ass over there for a bit of that ? Night night mucker.3 points

Turned the phone on earlier and had lots of missed calls/messages off lads on here....and then a message saying Owain is trying to get hold of you....I knew it was Johnny when I heard that... I'm honestly gutted, met him at the first comp and he's been the main man ever since... funny, kind, humble, clever... he was a really good bloke and his kids are a credit to him and his wife... You do meet friends on here and he was certainly one of my friends.. I know all the lads on here who knew him are gutted, the phone ain't stopped! RIP Butty...3 points

Went to the Down dog show this morning, thought that there was way to many pitbull breeds at the show, I go to the shows to see hunting & working dogs not bully breeds. There was no category for foxhounds, harriers, gundogs or coverdogs but a whole ring dedicated to non working pitbulls, staffs, English bulls & bullys. It was very disappointing from my point of view & I would enjoy if the working dog shows were left to the hunting breeds.3 points
