I couldn't resist getting out for a couple of hours tonight with the wind blowing like it is and the rain fall we've had lately it was certainly worth a trip out. Still warm with lots of cover about so it was a case of selecting my rabbits, catch a couple then stop to paunch them so the dog could have a breather then catch a couple more. Went at it steady as the little bitch has just turned 17 months. Ended on a high not with 21 out of the 23 caught in the bag. Called it a night due to the temperature.18 points

Ok All Link to Virgin Giving page below: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Team/THLLuccombesCharityFishingComp Total raised on the night and paid in today was £1438.00 (with gift aid £1785!) There are a couple of lads to pay in still so we should be close to £1700 in the end, please add gift aid as this will take us over £2k raised. As always a bloody amazing effort from all, there isn't one person who attends this who doesn't muck in and make it what it is. This was our 8th year now, and we've raised over £20k in that time for lots of different charities, i13 points

Well done Trigger. Was a perfect night for it. Like you say, a good night to get the youngsters going. Had her sister out last night too. Youngest lad was itching to get out more than me and the dogs!9 points

Be very careful taking the piss out of airgunners mate ,believe me ,..they will start a topic about you in the air gun section ,usually titled , "General section at it again " ,then they all put their cammo gear on ,blacken the face ,adjust scrims and type some really hurtful things about you ,they are wound up tight and not afraid to call you things like "uneducated" or " bloody fool " Just a friendly warning before you open your pms .7 points

I’m not knocking anyone who uses bull influencers terriers fd I’m talking from experience, I bred some and was given pups over the years but recently within the last 20yr I wouldn’t add it to the blood I have. If the right terriers are bred from you do not need any bull in any shape or form. ?6 points

It's ironic that the dog men get so upset at hares being shot when it's the only legal method available along with snaring. I seem to recall that a Hunting Act was passed in 2004 which conveniently gets forgotten.5 points

Yep, we have to thin them out now and again. I posted a picture on another forum some years ago and somebody went off on one. They’re fair game, but some people don’t seem to agree for some reason ?4 points

Pav don't let this thread get to you. A minor debate about whether or not something is vermin, is well minor. It doesn't detract from the wonderful night out or your spoils from that pest control outing. You did a wonderful job controlling the pests and got a hare as well. See it for what it is.4 points

I was addicted to skeet . It was a real mind game . The concentration and nerves when you are on the last stand and you are straight is fantastic. I like to shoot it with my 32” barrels and full chokes and really dust them , very satisfying. I would recommend skeet to anyone as a fantastic way of sharpening up your game shooting and getting your gun mount perfect. Olympic skeet is even better .3 points

Cracking weekend again, huge thanks to Kev and the guys from luccombes for all their hard work, Joe for the burritos, Ken for the bbq and everyone else who all contributed food, beer and prizes? The kids had a great time, we all enjoyed the fishing and the Johnny show afterwards? We found a fantastic clay shooting ground just down the road if anyone fancies a go next year. My mate holds the record at Bywell in Northumberland for skeet shooting 400 straight. I cant imagine the mental strength needed to perform that well.2 points

Cannot argue with any of that SL. Skeet is less popular than it used to be some years ago but it is a superb practice discipline. I still use skeet as a practice round to sharpen me up at times. Phil2 points

I have an opinion on handling and swinging a shotgun. I’m probably going to get shot to pieces for saying this , but here goes . Unless you have done a lot of shooting and put the hours in at the clay ground or a lot more hours in live quarry shooting, then you probably haven’t really developed muscle memory and a real feel for what kind of fit and swing you prefer . Most shotguns have standard stock dimensions that will fit most people and unless you are unusually tall or fat or short, then they should be ok . I’m 6,2” and I could pick up and shoot nearly every shotgun I handle. I would advi2 points

I understand what your saying, my point was if you start heading towards a more bully type (looks, head size chest etc) your steering away from a typical working terrier and your taking on more than the bully looks. A good working terrier in my opinion will have as much drive, determination stamina and above all hunting instinct than any bull so why go down that route. I’ve worked and bred plenty of terriers with a % of bull in them over the years and by no means has it improved any workers.2 points
