Yes, there I was sneaking up on a crow when under 10yds a vixen come trotting past! I got on her silently with Fairweather and squeaked. The 17g Remington HMR hit shoulder, not ideal but how she crumpled and got up I knew she ain't going far. I heard a twig snap so after a moment went there and yep there she was, just ten yards more. She's a little cutie of a thing and that explains where all my pheasants have gone ?. I have been here this morning already at 5am and seen nothing. No sign, muck or paw prints. Just goes to show but tonight before shooting her I did find some pigeon fea7 points

When 90% of England was trees and pasture and they could walk across to mainland Europe I could see it working but today they will be no more than a fancy cow in a large enclosure, we don’t have miles of roaming plains or acres of unkept woodland for them to be proper free roaming wild buffalo ? you can’t turn the clock back without removing a lot of mans influences and we won’t be doing that in a hurry ?6 points

After a discussion with the lady who runs the stables and the sheep farm, she advised me that she had seen a fox on a few occasions around 0600 in one of the fields. We had a walk to where she sees it and I told her I'd be back up in the morning early doors. So...... Alarms clock goes off at 4am, I'm washed, ready, got fueled up with a strong coffee and get the rifle out the safe. The stables are only 10 minutes up the road so get there for 5am. I parked the van up get the rifle & trigger sticks out the van. Rifle and trigger sticks in hand I head off to5 points

Yeah we're behind with cutting, just been too wet. When I got home my neighbour was putting his golf clubs in car boot, he asked where I'd been so early (he knows I shoot already) after I told him, he goes "God I can't think of anything worse; getting out of bed that early to sit in field on your own in the dark, you must be mad" I just cast my eyes at the golf clubs & nodded my head. Each to their own....5 points

There's are a myriad of reasons why bison, wolves, beaver, Lynx and many other animals don't exist in the UK anymore; the lack of and change in habitat, the change in climate, human progression from hunter/gatherer to agriculturalists, deforestation, polution, persecution, Taking aminals from their natural habitat, and putting them in enclosures isn't "reintroducing" them, it's just a step up from the old zoo's. Yeah, wild boar, and maybe beaver, are back in places, but wait 'till they become a nuisance or cause more damage than they are worth, and they'4 points

Well not a fox to be seen so I called it a night just before 12, drive out of the farm my phone rang “ farmer John “ asking if I’d had any luck with the foxes, after telling him I’d seen nothing he went on to say “ you should try the front fields, I seen two cubs crossing the road into the front field last night” this information might of been more use to me earlier in the day when I spoke to him, anyway he told me about another field they have rented for grazing in walking distance from the farm and that there’s a small wood at the rear that might be worth a call, with a bit of luck I’ll get4 points

Sounds like it,s spending time Si ,and reversing over the current scope to put it out of your misery. I too had an unproductive night ,out at 9.30 just bunnies and a herd of cows to be seen . You could smell where Charlie had been minging stink but no show and at 1am the moon came out brighter than Trump,s teeth but i think the biggest problem was the wind direction it changed more times than the wifes mind .So i couldn.t sneak up on an incontinent deaf elephant if i tried . A frustrating night all round .4 points

Polar opposite for me; out this morning at 330 with .17 looking for gingers. Not a sight or sound but on way back home took out a lone crow@113yds which was feeding on belly up bunny. I know there's a new fox about after couple weeks of being quiet after last few I've knocked on head as I've seen on trail cam, just a matter of catching up with it.4 points

i always think these driven dogs dont belong and should never be in the hands of ordinary folk like myself or others,i looked into the purchase of this breed before i got the spastic shepherd ,and i went to a trainers home ,where he ''introduced'' me to his dogs, and i saw them and what they were capable of and thought ,fuk that!!!too much drive and dog for my needs,i struggle to get out enough at the present time with work ,and imagine one of these bored out of their tits ,theyd implode/explode or just basically maul the shite out of someone3 points

You will have a lot of Replies from people who say they never use them , their Ferret dos not stay , i whistle and they come out , or the old favourite Feeding and bush craft , well they are all lying b*****ds , over the years there has been six people on this site who have said they will show me and prove me wrong .........Guess What not one of the lying b*****ds has ever turned up !!!!!!!! i have fore gotten about the pack of Lunatics that will tell you how their Ferret will drag the rabbit out the second it has killed it apparently they will do this feat up to 5 time a day.3 points

If you want to spend all day waiting for your ferret to surface, or go home and leave your ferret behind good on you , but imo ferret finder is a must will put more rabbits in the bag and save you a lot of time.3 points

You wouldn't send a terrier to ground to do battle without one..... A ferret is just as valuable imo?...3 points

Makes good sense mate and when you was digging the places that were different beforehand you obviously had no fear but also no stupidity . The is some younger lads out there in the minority maybe who keen as but also been around the block bit to know what it's about , unlike a heap nowadays who already think know it all and not want to listen3 points

This shed had a wet middle where a drinker had been fecked .We usually get the driver to let the slurry go before we start as we did here but still a fecking mess .Mossburg 12 off here had his boy flat out in a wet pit few years back ,poor lad ?.2 points

If working only one dog for bushing rabbits I would go for a well bred Beddie whippet or something similar. Something that can work cover but has a bit of pace also, but that’s only my opinion. I am sure other people will have different ideas.2 points
-
Tbh you won’t catch a lot using just one dog, but as Neal says one catch bushing is worth more than 10 lamping or ferreting. It’s definitely quality over quantity when bushing. Edited to add that it’s just great to be out and about in the Countryside and if you go home with something it’s a bonus.2 points

Knocked him on his arse TWICE. For someone that's 'untouchable' and 'the best the planet has ever seen', 'max's words', he don't half get knocked down, cut, and hit all across the ring in some of his fights. It must be his superior footwork, boxing skills and ring IQ lol.2 points

I’ve been out three times over the last few weeks with the plan of bagging a buck, if I had a quid for all the ones I’ve seen over the last few months while out early with the shotgun I’d be minted!! needles to say the freezers still empty and I’ve not had a sniff? typical2 points

If you do a couple of hours on a Sunday morning on a field with nice shallow burrows you could probably get by without one . try charging for rabbit control or working big deep burrows you will soon find out you need one . Another favorite of mine My ferret kills ever rabbit in the burrow i don't need a locator , try digging down to a mark and finding a backed up rabbit with the ferret scratching its a*se , The ferret comes out you pick it up and before your down the farm drive all these rabbits with bare backsides are outside the warren . Next time you go there the second word is OFF far2 points

Soon as the grass is cut I’ve got a couple to catch up with, I’ve been leaving dinner out for them on and off for the last couple of weeks and had a few fleeting sightings! the only place I can get set up safely and get the shot on is from 250yards away due to where there coming from and a public rd to the right of the hedge.. due to the beans I can only see from here:( Been baiting where the crop changes as there’s a strip of manure between, this night it had a pork pie left over from me dinner? the point about this post is that I fcuked the shot up, got a scope that’s mint d2 points

I stopped having it when the peddlers and book sellers completely took over. Ive seen the last copy and not much has changed. I found DH to be a nice bloke to talk to and if I had ever dug with him I would like to think I wouldnt talk out of school and slag him off in public in an attempt to make myself look like a real terrier man.2 points
