....to beat the rain. Still had me though. Out pre dawn and hit a large oak wood to hit the squirrels with the 22. Classic small game hunting. Got 14 in the end. Nearly lost the dog! Looks as though she had been down an earth by the colour of her! She returned from God knows to my rabbit squeal! Silly mutt. Fires are lit, dog showered, I'm drying out, where's the gin ?.12 points

Some really silly posts on such a serious subject i dont know why people need to have an opinion on things they simply dont understand.....im certainly no expert on the subject and have thankfully never suffered with it,but a very good friend of mine from childhood has suffered with it on and off all his life....his worst bout of it was about 15 years ago and for a whole 2 year period i would go round and he would just be sitting in a chair barely able to look up and acknowledge me,this was a proper life and soul of the party type of lad it really upset me that i just couldnt do anything for h11 points

What it you fall in love with them ,marry her ,and down the line she starts suffering with it ?.....it's not a personality defect mate ,don't get being depressed and suffering clinical depression mixed up ,you can be cheerful , have a positive outlook ,lead a meaningful ,happy and fulfilling life ,depression comes ,and you face it alone ,you try hard to function whilst trying not to infect loved ones with your deep, deep inexplicable despair ,it's a lonely illness ,often made worse by a person's inability to articulate or explain it to a cynical circle of family and friends .11 points

Stoney, there is NO GETTING OVER IT. You just need to learn to live with it, and deal with it as best you can. I've suffered from it, and anxiety, since nov 28/19 99, after a really bad accident, in which I suffered a brain injury, along with a few breakages etc. Forgot how to read and write, couldn't even tie my own shoe laces. Nightmares for 2 1/2 years, several spells in 3 different organisations/hospitals etc. And only after 9 years could I find the strength, with help, and go to college, relearn to read, write and grasp basic arithmatic again. Writing this now, I am already gett10 points

Depression is a C**t of a thing ....and that is the truth...? It is a terrible thing, that controls and ruins your life, and always leaves a man thinking, of what he might have achieved if only things had been different...?7 points

by fuk your one selfish bloke, you did her a favour,,you doint have a morsel of an idea what depression is ,i have a sister suffering from it for the last 40 years ,incurable ,shes had top docs /psychiatrists and the rest ,you should really live alone with that attitude ,your no help to anyone ...i sincerely hope none of your family have a dilemma,,youd have no understanding whatsoever as to what is going on ...you should go visit a mental ward and see all the patients and tell em .''for ffs pick yerself up,theres always someone worse than ye '' see how that goes down...7 points

Depression is definitely not a trivial thing the horror that I have witnessed because people with depression and suicidal tendencies are not getting the help they require is a big issue in the UK, My family has been affected by my sons struggles after two tours in Afghan it’s a very serious issue. My job is first response for the Railway so over the years I’ve witnessed my fair share of mental illness. I get called out a lot to suicidal people some are screamers and shouters some so withdrawn, it’s sad to witness and some are definitely playing the system to get sectioned to get a be5 points

I don’t know what your relationship status has ever been mate, but I won’t be too hard on you about your opinion. Its a young mans way of looking at things, when you have been with a good woman for 20 years and she has stood by you through all sorts then you would feel very differently. Only if after all that time and those trials and tribulations did you felt the same would you be a bit of a dick.5 points

As we had a late cut of silage night before last, I thought I might as well have a look around tonight. Dropped the first dog fox at about 60 paces half way round the farm. Got to the horse paddock and saw charlie walking through without a care in the world ignoring the lamp. Had to wait for him to get the whole way across the paddock to give me a safe shot away from the horses and dropped him at 175 paces.4 points

the last thing i will write is ....proper deep depression devastates not only the sufferer but their loved ones and friends ...my family went through some real rough times ,my parents lives were burdened by not being able to help in any way their daughter...the different hospitals,an enduced coma for 3 weeks ,...a week of her missing and not being found and not knowing if she was alive or dead ,her bouts of violent outbreaks and being distraught at the state of her life ...it was a terrible time ,and now shes in a lovely nursing home and shes relatively happy ,all we ever wanted ,...depression4 points

The other night i was giving a pal a lift when we came across a roe in the road with bones sticking out it's legs and a car just sat there,i got out and the fella in the car said he'd been waiting 40 mins for the rspca to turn up.20 seconds later it was out of it's misery and he and the lady dog walker who was there to make sure someone was going to disspact it were well happy with me and so are the terriers who are eating it as i type...4 points

I don’t know if this is relevant to the thread or not, but my brother lost a wife and twins in childbirth years ago. He then married again and had a son and daughter, his daughter was born with quiet severe Down’s syndrome. When she was born my dad told me he came to him and cried like a baby and my old man told him “You had her now you love her and look after her” He took that girl everywhere with him her whole life, she is 47 now, go’s to her centre every day to work......that little girl bought so much love into all our lives it’s just not true. A leopard is nearly twice the weight of a Mountain lion and they regularly take dogs the size of a German shepherd so I doubt if a big dog would take a leopard ......4 points

Like many on here I've seen the effects first hand, very close family who I've spent time just walking with at all hours as that was all that they could do to escape the feelings... as a kid I watched my mum have a breakdown, this ain't the place for the whole story but me and my brother was all she had so she wouldn't even let us go to school for a long while... it was a shit little time but she pulled herself through and made a life for us all at that time... there is history of it in my family, along with alcoholism...I dont think its hereditary obviously but I think you can see those aroun4 points

First day tomorrow on our little shoot, we have a good show of birds, as to be expected this early in the season and we have tempted a fair few from the surrounding shoots, so even with all this rain it won’t be putting a dampener on my day, I’ve even popped down to see my mate for a haircut and the missus had ironed my shirt, I only make an effort on the first day just in case someone is waving a camera around ?3 points

Here’s the thing, in extreme or tricky situations......nobody knows what to do, we are all just making it up as we go along. However, I’d like to think a proper chap wipes his mouth, puffs out his chest and deals with it in the kindest, most sensible way. Helping someone who is in a dark place and who you have the ability or responsibility to help isn’t even a choice really in my book......but, everyone is different.3 points

Depression is a c**t and can be difficult to live with. It can cause folk to almost separate there self from others as there feelings prevent them from wanting to socialise. I get bouts of it myself I can shut myself away for days refuse to answer the phone as I don’t want to speak or deal with anyone. The thing is with depression it can come and go at the drop of a hat and there’s and you don’t always know what’s triggered it off.3 points
-
As mentioned above in some posts, I think the problem a lot of people have with the ‘depression status’ is that all the fat slobs that have never worked a day in their lives claim depression to keep getting their benefit money when really there’s fk all wrong with them. So it takes the emphasis of the actual people who really are suffering.3 points

If I hear the words depression, anxiety or mental health from someone within an hour of meeting them I know I wont be around that person for long.....I was seeing a girl from another town a few months back and it was all going steady till one day she rang me saying she was having a panic attack and could I go round.....I did and when I got there she sat me down, said “there’s something you should know” and I’m thinking she’s pregnant but she started to tell me about how she “suffers” with anxiety and all that......honestly I just had to get away from her so made an excuse to go to my van, drov3 points

Here are a few pics from the UP. I was up there hunting bears and though I didn't shoot one I saw a few. The first one has a collar and ear tags which means he's part of the Predator-Prey study the Department of Natural Resources is running. They trap and collar deer, wolves, coyote, and of course bears. Then they keep track of who eats who. So, if I shot this bear I guess I would have been part of the study. The valley is the Sturgeon River Gorge in Houghton county.2 points

Here are a few more bear pics. They really like to take it easy and just plop down. The river is the Sturgeon again.2 points

I think depression is one of those things that you can only understand if you experience it...thankfully I haven't hence why it baffles me, I'm rubbish around depressed people I lack empathy for them and I cant pretend I do,I just don't get it ....cheer up ya miserable cnut!2 points

The last time this topic was on here I think it was born that put up the statistics of the number of abortions and women having their second third and fourth abortion was fcuking scandalous. Any woman found to be using abortion as a form of contraception wants their womb removing.2 points

There is a bit of a grey area. Fatal foetal abnormality can be an issue in countries where abortion is illegal. Forcing a couple to give birth to a child with no skull cap with their brain exposed and zero chance of survival is also downright cruel.2 points
