  3. He’s fully gundog trained,he used to be broke to deer and could stop him on anything but lamping a lot etc kinda changed that. the pic was taken after the picking up team had worked the island but he stuck his nose up and went into the water, the guy with the spaniels said it was clear but frank doesn’t mismark and came back with a hen bird to the guys disgust. not all lurchers can be trained this way as I found with my new pup but the ones that can are worth there weight and certainly change some misconceptions

  8. It is still early days yet, all the spaniels and other types are, as you say, like coiled springs...? As for retrieving, perfectly to hand,...this is a difficult attribute to maintain with running dogs,..more so if you work them really hard. I always strive for a steady retrieve, but invariably, as the years go on and the work-load increases,..most dogs get sloppy. It doesn't matter to me,..it used to, but I have mellowed a tad,...life really is too short to ruin what is left, in that obsessional search for perfection...?

  10. So do i and some drives he don't want us near because there shooting the next day but they have one drive they have shot twice in one day before so disturbance of a drive sometimes makes a difference and sometimes it don't ,but when it's a mans living on the line that has been disrupted in the past then you do what the keepers say if you want to keep your permission(well i do anyway).A fickle bunch are keepers but if you have an idea of how birds are then you will sort of understand what's allowed and whats not at certain times.

  12. it is a shame when people start getting riled with a dog for being les than perfect, I don't take my lurcher shooting but run a gang of cockers and all I do is get them bang on the whistle, and they learn the rest on the job in the pack so to speak I encourage them to jump up with the retrieve to save my back, but that's about it just let them work and they don't miss much as been said life is far to short.

  24. One Wednesday evening about 20 years ago I was at the cooker cooking an evening meal for the family when somebody stated banging hell out of my front door. So said to my youngest lad who was out 14 to see what the hell that was about and answer the door. Two rspca officers burst in shouting you're liable for a 10,000 pound fine and pointing a finger at me. So switched the cooker of and said in no uncertain terms what the f**k is this all about, did you and your son go shooting on such and success farm on Saturday? Yes we were shooting crows and rooks for the farmer, what is wrong with that? No

  26. Macron is the one who will most likely pull the plug on the UK. France isn't as dependent on the UK as is Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain and the countries who receive subsidies and he has plans to change the EU that are not being discussed because Brexit is dominating proceedings. Macron only got in by default and he is highly unpopular in France and may not get in next time. That is one reason he vetoed the expansion plans that would allow Albania and Nth Macedonia into the EU. Macron is on borrowed time and his plans to stride the big stage as Merkel leaves are being held up. He wants the UK

That day when I had to come home and leave my ferret out not knowing her fate was horrendous, If I could have dug 16ft I would have been doing it, not asking for advice on here, It was a new place to ferret and I want be repeating it.

Every year I get invited to beat on a commercial shoot but over the last 4 years or so I’ve always made my excuses because a load of rich nobs shooting because they can doesn’t sit well with me now, I much prefer the working mans shoot even though some are just there for the shooting nothing ever goes to waste

Dressing up as batman was just for a laugh im sure. Dont know what people want from fury he can only fight the people they put in front. Everyone has a off day in the ring look at aj and ruiz

Couple of years back I had an American fella out as a favour to a pal of mine , we had our first fallow down by 7am , our second by 8,30 and his third by 9.15 ..gralloched and in the chiller by 11 am ..he could barely eat breakfast he was that excited , given he was telling everyone in the cafe in great detail all about our “hunting “trip , assuming everyone in there was keen on hunting as we were , he completely missed the tut tuts , frowns & head shaking of several woman .. Late after noon we was sat up in a seat where he got number four , he could have got five but was still realay
