I was getting £280 a shift 8 yrs ago shopfitting.....before that £1 a metre pulling telecoms cable and blowing fibre..... 1000 metres a day split 3 ways.... Jacked it as I was sick of not having a life..... Not seeing my kids... Job on the books now £15 something per hr, holidays, bonus's, in the house by 5:30 everyday.... Happiest I've ever been.... Not about money these days for me..... Chased it for yrs..offered a foremans job with the company I'm with now, more money...... Don't want the stress..... Get by as I am.... More you have.... The more you waste?9 points

My 8 Yr old just got top marks in a spelling test at school today ... Worked really hard for it as he has struggled with his reading.... Told him we would treat him for his efforts..... So a Day out at longleat safari Park next weekend for the family?it's my kids I get out of bed for every morning.... Try and give them what the Mrs and myself went with out growing up.... all my fiddles, tickles, earners go on them..... I got to ask the Mrs for 'pocket money' lol. So long as they happy and we got a roof over our heads..... I will do what ever it takes ?8 points

I was brought up in a slum with nowt, hand me down clothes and suchlike,my dad was a bit of a cnut,i learnt to value money, worked silly hours at times,i do regret not seeing more of my kids when they were toddlers all for chasing paper, but I never wasted even a pound note, never drank, smoked, gambled, they are getting first class education and at least one of them understands I worked hard so they didn't have to.6 points

I remember the big crash in the early 90,s I think when all the lads headed for Germany, prior to that I was working 12hour days 6/7 days a week had a gang of lads working for me, left home before my kids were up got home when they were in bed and thought I was doing great, after the interest rates hit 15 percent and every other house was repossessed all my mates were in Germany, I got a little maintenance job and thought what the f**k were those last years all about and since that time I value my free time and family more than anything in the world and just do enough to live now,, with as muc6 points

As many are "Town-ies" or City dwellers now, it is becoming rare that we process our own animals and foods. In a previous Thread I started I showed what we do with a half of a pig each year, this year I will show you the start of the task and what we do to prepare the pig for butchering and making our smallgoods. This part is not such a family affair as compared to the processing the next day. Previous links to other thread - http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/374657-home-made-pork-sausages-by-my-italian-family/ In the beginning there was three fat piggie4 points

Best terrier I ever had named Howdy is gone.I have debated for two weeks to post this. I have never posted on any forum on the internet. After much deliberation I think he deserves this.Gone at 13. Blind and selectively deaf since 9. He spent his latter years in hand picked spots. He ran loose the last 2 months of his life still trying to start trouble at every kennel.Howdy your gone but I will always strive to be as game as you.4 points

Went out again this morning to a horse training track that i got permission o a few weeks ago, the grass in the middle was a bit long so couldnt see what was i it, i took a shot at a woody on the fence and dropped it, as i shot rabbits were bobbing up all over in the grass, i shot 3 in a few mins and that was it, i found loads of warrens where they all ran to, left there after about half an hour with 3 rabbits and a woody then got another woody on a gate across the road, so another good spot for shooting now and ferreting in winter4 points

Same here, f**k that. That continent would be a paradise without the savages. We're off to Gibraltar next year with the inlaws. ...... Her Dad suggested a trip to North Africa for a couple of days - I told him that he's off his nut and, that he won't be taking my missus or daughter over. I went to Tunisia a while back - the country was a shithole and I didn't like the people either. ........ The only way I'd ever go back would be in a Vulcan bomber - I wouldn't want to land and, I want to be away sharpish after the payload was gone3 points

Got to agree,.I made my bones with such useful, old style lurchers...great days, great times and great memories.3 points

Not disagreeing with you that theres alot of shit about but how do you work out most of them are ? Not a dig or owt genuinly interested. Theres dogs that have took everything the british isles has to offer everyone is in contact now we can look for the best blood to add to our dogs find out about differrnt qaurry to test the dogs on and listen to other genuine dogmen and learn bits from there mistakes. Ok so it might be abit harder to test a dog properly at certain disciplines but you can its just abit more hassle.youd think lurchermen would be movingforwards not backwards over the years3 points

Just the two last night . No cubs ? A big dog and a small vixen , she has had cubs but where are they ? Who knows , I dare say our paths will cross soon enough . Set off about 11.30 . Snoozed in the chair all evening, the Mrs thanked me for my wonderful company as I left the house , muttering words like “don’t bother coming back, ya boring bar steward “. So refreshed and awake I started my tour of the newly cut fields . Nothing on the first lap . Drove the mule into a narrow field with a muck heap in the middle , a quick scan with the thermal, nothing . Then I noticed some movement on the muck3 points
