Years ago the otter hounds 'sought' protection for the otter resulting in them being licensed every year to hunt it. Then one year when they went to get the license it was simply revoked leaving them high and dry. Can you imagine the underhanded biased system that would come into play. Terriermen would be refused a license here there and everywhere based on false allegations of this, that and the other. And how would you fight it or how long would it take...1,2,3 years of keeping dogs waiting for a repeal would see anyone off. I'd be very careful of what you wish for. Do you think you could tr10 points

No offence Apache..... but it's a simple fact of life that terrierwork is the ONLY form of hunting with dogs which the Hunting Act 2004 doesn't seek to ban. Things like that don't just happen by accident, or as a result of some form of divine intervention by the Holy Father. It requires people who are willing and prepared to put their head above the parapet, spend countless hours pounding the corridors of Westminster in order to talk to politicians of all persuasions and put the case/defend properly conducted terrierwork (rather than the shameful exhibition we recently saw on TV). Terrier work is like a dildo. In the right hands it's very precise and effective. In the wrong hands. It can do a lot of damage.7 points

I had this tied up and was going to take the skull, but the damn HSE had it towed to deep water by the fishery protection vessel because of complaints pfffffft. Now that would have made a good specimen, didn't half pong though.6 points

Hard to comprehend some of the statements and beliefs of people on here at times? Barrie's response explained quite adequately the huge effort that the NWTF and indeed Barrie and others have put in to keeping "your" pastime legal and that's a fact. Doing nothing and hiding your head in the sand achieves "nothing". The amount of hours and commitment is to be commended, where thanks is rarely given and never sought. The fact this work is not broadcast on the WWW doesn't mean nothing is being done or the many achievements made over the many years. If it was not for men like Barrie standing up fo4 points

What licensing does do, is to impose a set of rules/regulations relating to conduct (the conditions of licensing) and draws a very distinct line between those who would act within the law, as opposed to those who would not. You break the rules.... then you lose your license and face the penalties. That way the onus falls on the individual, rather than on the responsible majority. J.M.H.O. - Barrie4 points

No disrespect fella..but heres a fact.. only because of the NWTF & IWTF and there many meetings and submissions codes of conducts is the reason in UK and North and South of Ireland..you can legally use a single terrier to ground..you think these federations didn't put there neck on the line to PROTECT properly conducted terrier work..and what was portrayed in that programme is what these federations stood tall and totally condemned any types of animal cruelty face to face with the very folk who had a say..and because these federations stood up is the reason your hunting in Ireland..terrier4 points

Hi Apache Thank you for your understanding, I'm sure there's far more on which we'd agree than we could ever disagree ?. Most definitely, you're correct. Apart from the UK, every other country where I've hunted and several others which I've visited have all had some form of licensing/regulatory system in place. And as a visiting outsider I never saw anything which led me to believe they had any less freedom to practice than we did here in the UK, in fact quite the reverse. In some countries, the mere fact that the relevant Hunting Associations have detailed sets of rule books ou3 points

What is the matter with the people of the UK 60million people and only .5 percent have bothered to do anything about our unjust Government. If it wasn't for Tommy, hardly anyone would know about the thousands of young girls and boys being raped drugged and murdered in the UK. So if you are with Tommy , please make shore all your friends and family have signed the petition. If not for Tommy, then please think of your children and there kids future. Now is the time to stand, before its to late.3 points

I think we have agree to disagree lads but I know if I got a knock on the door right now and was asked to get a license to dig to my terriers I would fly down and get one and if I got caught digging without one I'd get my van and dogs confiscated my house raided and a prison sentence, f**k me it's a no brainier. And let me tell you fellas is not a nice experience enough said ?.3 points

This old photo solved a mystery for me while I was researching my family history as I was told one of our family was killed on a railway while rabbiting by my sister. Twigged it when saw this photo of my Grans mother and father on the back of the photo was written "Jock was killed on the railway line catching a rabbit 1937". Their daughter my gran. Loved her more than my parents, never saw her as young as this. Cheers Arry3 points
