  1. Like I need another hobby Lol. My shoulder been playing me up for over two months and daren't go out coil to the soil so started cutting out old coin I found detecting. My first attempt was a 1981 2p the year my Lad was born, gave it to him as a key ring. Second attempt is a key ring for the Lads Wife. A 1927 crusty old one penny. This ie the third try because Wifey liked the Hare looking at the moon. Still needs a bit of tidying up with the needle files, work in progress. 1895 penny. Cheers Arry

  2. After 8 hour round trip I brought my new pup home at the weekend, I was very kindly gifted her off a member off here after a chance conversation, from the day they were born he kept me updated with regular pics and updates, she has settled in a treat taking everything in her stride so far, she’s an absolute credit to him, hopefully she might get the odd day out towards the end of the coming season, cheers Neil B

  3. Went to Crown Court today for the final adoption certificate. In 2021 my lad and his wife lost their Daughter my only grandchild of 18 months after trying for a kid for nearly 10 years. Seeing my son and his wife's hurt was hard and of course the wife and I were devastated not being Grandparents. As it was an ultra rare genetic thing they decided to go down the adoption rout. Well after over a year of foster to adopted a long drawn thing. Finally the last rubber stamp so to speak I'm a Granddad to a lovely little Lad. To say I'm over the moon would be a massive understatement.

  7. I've just buried the old girl, 15 and a half, she's had cancer for about 3 years but the other day she ran a deer for a few hundred yards (!) and gave herself a hernia so it was time. Had her from a pup off MB and she's been a brilliant dog. Good manners, obedient, clean in herself, clean in the house, never any hassle, didn't like teeth but great at everything else. Shame they get old. She's now in the garden with her 3 mates. D.

Ran 3 times a week sometimes 4 never injured apart from the odd cosmetic and a fantastic season shes had. I was her 3rd home but was with guys i knew so i knew the reasons where genuine and nothing on the dog . Best decision i made when she come back was shes staying put .

Sixteen weeks old touch over 19 inches and 25lb, it's been 10 years since I had a pup on the ground so i'd forgotten how much of a pain in the arse they are lol. She's got a lovely nature though and my Grandkids absolutely adore her which was the plan all along. I'm going to enjoy every minute of watching them grow up together. Diolch yn fawr.

We worked on "stuff" outside of the pest control/lurcher world together and had a good laugh along the way. I have lost a good friend. Rose has lost her best friend and husband. I’m not quite sure why I’m putting this on here, but I’m half a bottle of whiskey in and I’m wondering if I’ve done the right thing ( I think I have) quick story, earlier today I got a text saying “ I’ve been given your number and think you would be able to tell me about my dad and how he died “ the text was from the son of my best friend from 26 years ago who died from a heroin overdose when his son was just 7 months old after a phone call it turned out that no one in his family has ever told him what happened, mainly because someone else in the family ( who is still alive) w

  18. Been looking in on THL for years and enjoy reading many of the posts in various sections. As a quiet bloke by nature I've never really felt the need to comment as others have usually put down what I'm thinking, but thought I'd just add my experience on this. Dytkos, sorry to hear of your condition I've no idea how you get your head around that. At the end of 2024 I was diagnosed with cancer in my right tonsil and the base of my tongue and started an intensive six week course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy after the shooting season. I had radiotherapy five days a week and chemo once a week. I

  27. I know there is a fishing section but thought this might have a general appeal. On jollies in France at a friend's pond after carp. Got here and they are all bloody spawning - for those that aren't into fishing when they are shagging for the week they aren't interested in eating at all. Then this thing took my bait. Ugly slimy thing but an absolute beast. 45minutes battle on 15lb line. Scales bottomed out at 67lb. Estimated at 100lb. Unreal and saved my holiday!!!

Will it really be the dream you all imagine?....yes, for me it has been, the freedom here in Canada compared to the uk is night and day..... as for going to work....unless your loaded, yes, you would have to go to work pretty much what ever country your in, the difference is the quality of the way you work, it`s more laid back here, yes, you do a days work but not with the same pace as some of the places I've worked in the uk, i wouldn't necessarily say you would need to be a highly skilled person to get a good wage to live on here, a skilled person can live really well. a handyman trades

  32. I met Phil through Ditchshitter in the early 80s and had been in touch and met from time to time ever since . I only hunted with him once to my great regret . He used one of my photographs in one of his books which l considered a bit of an honour. A couple of years ago ,and completely out of the blue , he gifted literally hundreds of his traps to me and l did detect a change in him . I had the feeling that he clearly had other things to do while time was on his side. Phil was a ruthless hunter in his heyday . Mercenary too ; "lt's all about the pounds " was one of his sayings .

Alabama has the most fish species of anywhere in North America. Some are endemic to Alabama. One of these species is the Warrior Bass.It only lives in a few creeks in the Sipsey Wilderness.I wanted to catch some before they went extinct.I found a thesis studying these fish from Auburn University and they listed which creeks they found these fish.I spent the last 2 days exploring those creeks.Had a great time.

  34. Had to say my final goodbye to my Whippet dog today, he'd to come to the end of the road but at a ripe old age, would have been 16 in August. He was bred out of Mike Brown's Glen "strikewhiletheironshot". I have to say I have had many whippets but this lad was the nuts, he had the heart of a lion , his prey drive was second to none, many people talk about Whippets been frail little things....this lad was 22" to shoulder and built strong. I will miss him so much out in the field and at home as he was such a soft chap indoors and with my Bedlingtons letting them lounge all over him. Its a hard t

I got into riding a few years back now and don’t own my own horse and a couple of members numerous times have given me a horse for free absolutely delighted to see me up on a horse. Ride up front and for free. Hunt ball tickets given to me every year. Free feed for my dogs. It’s my life and I wouldn’t talk bad about it one bit. From washing out kennels, walking hounds , going to hound shows, autumn hunting , and hunting. It’s a full way of lif

So a big long bank has been cleared of undergrowth with the brush cutters and as I'm setting the long nets around and over the bank my mate is working ahead raking the bits of brash of the path I'm about to drop the nets on... Next thing I see him flapping about and jumping around..he's disturbed a wasp nest..he's then shouting for help from me...si drop what I'm doing and proceed to start squashing w

We had an amazing dinner, talked for hours, hunting and fishing dominating the talk, but history, music and family as well, I think we spent about 3 hours together and it flew by, my wife loved it as well. We're going to stay another night in Alabama, maybe more, this place has reduced our speed to get across the states, its slowed us down, which has been great. I’m looking for a young lad that’s keen to get out with his old man etc or a decent fella who keeps dogs for life not use and abuse them. The pup will be free of charge to the right person, he’s very well bred, he should make 23-24. He was the most confident pup in the litter. Absolute character. I’ve turned down money for him as I don’t feel the homes were right ones. He’s the pup looking at his old man, he’s genuine 3/8 wheaten 5/8 grey. who ever ends up with him wont be disappointed as
