Caught loads of snapper, Jack's etc.. good food, sunshine, took the boat to a dockside bar had a few too many so got Fin to get an uber to us and take the boat home ..mental place lol27 points

Said was about a 60yd shot and dropped lin his tracks . Proud of my old man just wish I could have been there to see his face and take some pictures ..but hay what can ya do27 points

Was chatting to someone I know yesterday and he asked me if I was still looking for a little couple of days a week job as I get a bit bored and the beer tokens come in handy so I says yes what’s going on to which he reply’s that a guy we both know is looking for someone two days a week shooting birds on the runway of an raf base on the Cotswolds so I’ve put my name in the hat but think it’s mine there is several lakes on site strictly no fishing but containing carp over 40lb never fished for so if all goes well it will be two 12 hour days shooting and I’ll stay overnight in the van and fish th25 points

Must be a different setup in England. I do the terrierwork for a mounted pack here and have done now for a number of seasons, and we’re all like family. I got into riding a few years back now and don’t own my own horse and a couple of members numerous times have given me a horse for free absolutely delighted to see me up on a horse. Ride up front and for free. Hunt ball tickets given to me every year. Free feed for my dogs. It’s my life and I wouldn’t talk bad about it one bit. From washing out kennels, walking hounds , going to hound shows, autumn hunting , and hunting. It’s a full way of lif25 points

We met with @Rickshaw swamilast night, once again thank you mate for your time and generosity. We had an amazing dinner, talked for hours, hunting and fishing dominating the talk, but history, music and family as well, I think we spent about 3 hours together and it flew by, my wife loved it as well. We're going to stay another night in Alabama, maybe more, this place has reduced our speed to get across the states, its slowed us down, which has been great. Waylon is a top man, a proper hunting and fishing man who lives, possibly, in the best place to pursue those things.. the invite i24 points

Boat stranded on edge of giant hole in Whitchurch canal pulled to safety WWW.BBC.CO.UK The boat, which is a family's home, will be refloated in the new year. I've been on a boat myself the past few months. Skippering a trawler in the North Sea. A job I did moons' ago. I took a few refresher courses ,passed my medical and bang! out at sea again. I'm exhausted, stressed out with responsibility, but there's nothing like it. If I hadn't gone the family route, I would have chosen this life. You're hunting all the time. All your senses are on edge but it's r23 points

A great weekend with A good pair of friends who come up for a couple weekends hunting every year to me. Started off Friday checked the first earth , very well ran however a promising young dog with 7/8 digs under his belt said no, tried a more experienced bitch. She also said no so that was good enough for us he wasn’t in it but not far away. Went across the road checked another one on the same farm he wasn’t in it but down the ditch we checked an earth I never got game out of before and sure enough it was holding. Lovely digging at 1.0m out the flat of the field . 1 accounted for. Up the road21 points

Well good start Monday was an American bank holiday so today was my first full day on site, anyways after my first shift I’ve been told the job is mine but doesn’t start until March which is only 5 weeks away but the lads on base want me to start sooner so are chatting with the boss either way it looks like a cracking job in really beautiful surroundings especially in summer and all being good should carry me on to my pension20 points

Went to the Morpeth & West Percy Hunt this morning; An excellent turnout on a crisp morning; The Master gave a good speech, slagging off Labour and defending hunting; Good to see a lot of youngsters there; The future ? Hopefully…… Cheers.20 points

Didn't get much work done today, set off and then noticed I had bald tyres so had to go and get 4 new ones fitted. Then it was home to pick up the dog and gun as id had an offer of an evening flight from @Blackmag. After driving to his chosen spot we stood talking in the corner of a field waiting for evening to come on he happened to mention that he'd seen signs of an otter. 10 minutes later I saw a patterdale terrier with a funny type of run that was coming right across the field towards us. I pointed it out as it dawned on us what it was. If we had been a few steps further back into t18 points

Well plans changed slightly, we stayed in Alabama and drove down to the gulf coast, stayed a night in Birmingham and spent some time in the civil rights museum, interesting place abd we were the only people in there, was a bit eerie tbh, in fact Birmingham was very quiet for a big city.. headed down to Bayou le Batre, was where Forest Gump on the shrimping boat was filmed, Waylon said it was the only place in Alabama any filming for the film was done, was exactly how we expected it to be, beautiful..but was disappointed with the seafood, shrimps weren't good and gumbo was OK... to be honest o17 points

This is my pup Tino out of Boots x his daughter Rose..had a brilliant season with all 3 of the young dog's,they haven't put a foot wrong,Tino caught 3 x teeth on his first try, absolutely spot on he was,Gus the black & tan has been on a couple of teeth & was equally as good as Tino, the little bitch Maggie was a lot slower to come to hand due to being held up for two months with a wrist injury after Gus jumped a gate & landed on her so she hasn't been tried yet,as for other stuff they've caught their fare share both day & night, all 3 retrieve brilliantly & things are looking15 points

Hopefully mate, we've covered some miles since Florida Keys and not really had a chance... there's so much to see and do, today's drive through Alabama was a shorter distance, we had more stops, and it blew our heads again! Meeting Rickshaw for a meal tonight, really looking forward to it.. Alabama is stunning!15 points

Luckily Edith knows that the mere production of the rifle means that she has to behave like stalking dog. Likewise there are times when she has to live up to her breed designation of sheepdog; not a particularly stylish one .Think of a canine Lemmy from Motörhead rather than the slick things you see on One Man and His Dog. Off duty she gets to follow interesting scents and rummage through brambles in search of stuff. She's pretty hot on woodmice. Today she finally nailed a real prize!15 points

Thank you Gentlemen, for the kind words,it was the hardest thing I've ever had too do...church was full, and another couple of hundred folks watching outside on the big screen...We gave him the send off that he deserved...And celebrated his life....proud to call Big Al ,my Dad15 points

We've done some miles since we left Fort Worth on Sunday morning.. Stayed in the Wichita mountains, small place called Medicine Park, full of old history.. had a few beers in the local bar with a proper character, no teeth and wearing a raccoon hat, told me that the previous landlord shot a man dead in the bar as he came in waving a gun about, looked at my feet and said "he dropped dead right where your standing" lol... he was born and raised in a small town 15 miles up the road, proper wild west country.. was a complete wreck head, but great company for a couple of hours.. My mate could hardly stand up when on the road it was like glass with the ice. A lot of stop nets behind the pig wire and out the road side. Managed five, I'll take that for a nice morning out. Cheers Arry14 points

Stayed in South Louisana last night, cajun country, beautiful place. Managed to have a little fish this morning as we stayed in a cabin on a small lake, lost a fish which jumped and shook the hook, looked like a large mouth bass to me.. This was lake Martin last night at sunset, proper swamp country, 1200 alligators in this lake reportedly.. Got a bit more twitching in lol Spoonbill Great egret (I think) A bird called a limpkin, watched it catch a crawfish A cooper hawk, speaking to a c14 points

Asked the lady I buy my quail and rabbits from if she wouldn't mind me coming by and getting a few buckets worth of the poop from under the cages for our compost pile yesterday when I got out new rabbit does and she was beyond happy to let me . Said I'd be doing her a favor more then anything. She's in her 70's ,been fighting cancer last year or so ,and can't get around like she used to and her usual help has been a little spotty apparently.Well came by yesterday to get a few buckets full and ended up helping her kill and process a few of her rabbits along with some other farm chores . Well the 2025 pigs have gone. Took them in Monday and collected the produce yesterday. Didnt go for chops this time wanted mainly sausage and bacon. 24 joints 60lb Sausage 40lb bacon joints, currently curing These have much less fat on them than previous ones. Could be the breed (Brittish sadle back X Pietrain) or could be that we managed feed better, or a combination of both. Now I need a plan for the pig pen in-between. Going to grow veg in there, just need to decide what.13 points

Got to Nashville early yesterday afternoon, mammoth drive the day before from St Augustine in Florida to Chatanooga in Tennesse, right through Georgia, about 7 and half hours driving with 1 break, I loved it tbh .. stayed the night in Chatanooga and only 2 hour drive through the mountains to Nashville .got a room for 3 days here...I thought I knew what Nashville would be like, but I don't think anything can prepare you for that first walk down Broadway..it is truly amazing, for any music lover this place is unreal..I think 3 days will be enough for us, but we13 points

Had our last day on the keys yesterday, mission was to find Fin a big fish...we were a bit under-gunned when we finally found them, 4 runs on the "big" rods all smashed up... mental power, probably groupers..then he had 2 runs on his light rod fishing for snapper... God knows what they were, put they ran for the horizon and nothing was stopping them.. Boxing day sandwiches in the sun and the best sunset Ive ever seen... made Miami now, staying here for the night then starting the trip to Nashville over the next few days.. https://youtube.com/shorts/CYZzT-GUuik13 points
