  1. Best thing we ever did,was pay for our 3 to have swimming lessons... essential life skill in my opinion

  2. Costs me 60 quid a month for swimming lessons for my 3 in the local council run pool, money well spent in my opinion, they've only 3 months left then it'll be a quid each any time they go.

  4. I mentioned this a good while ago . The Labour government in Wales is about to ban greyhound racing, how long before the UK Labour government follow suite ? The UK Labour government is already getting ready to ban trail hunting. How long before they follow the Scottish government and ban hunting rabbits with dogs ? Labour seem to hate the countryside. Cheers.

  5. Had a few days up in North Wales with my youngest lad. Few areas I hadn’t been for a while so we took a trip out. He’s been learning to map read/navigate for a few weeks so we took the map and compass for a bit of practice. Walked around to a couple of lakes and a bothy where I spent a lot of time when I was growing up. Got the cooker on for some hot grub and hot chocolate. We’ve decided to head back up in the summer, stay at the bothy and do some fishing.

  8. Many years ago I had a whippet called Blue Prince; his sire was the famous Blue Boy. Every year there was the Blue Boy Trophy and one year I aimed to win it and I did ! I tried to win it the next year and thought I had the dog ready and the mark,(yards), to do it, but the dog peaked the week before and won the handicap, got beat the week of the Trophy, and won the handicap again the week after ! So I’ve never been the “dog man” I think I may have been ! LOL ! Forgive the quality of the picture, this was decades before digital cameras were heard of ! Cheers.

  16. Listening to radio , 1000 pools shut since 2010 , national average has dropped to 70% of year seven children being competent swimmers , drownings increasing. I went to my boys gala last week and it was a painful watch with many of the kids competing unable to swim some not able to complete a length and presumably thats the best of them else they wouldn't enter them .Another symptom of austerity kicking in. We could do with more pools in my area for sure.

  23. We said “f**k off” to the Tory’s but sadly got Labour instead ! We will be able to say “f**k off “ to Labour at the next General Election and hopefully get Reform. Whatever you think about Farage, I think the countryside and field sports will be safe in his hands ! Cheers.

  24. On a brighter note, I passed the swimming pool in Carlisle yesterday and noticed a sign saying kids can swim for ten pence after 1 pm. It really took me aback. Some positive, progressive thinking for once.

  25. It’s nice to have a keen working dog they are great fun and characters. But unless you’re one of the few that can have some serious control over your dog. Some walks can be a bit of a pain. You’re constantly weighing up what if a fox pops out that hedge and goes across the school playing field. What about that road there. What about the 200 sheep in lamb in that field. In my area mine has to stay on a lead a lot. When we go see the daughter in Scotland the amount of deer and nosey sods is ridiculous. We could get in serious trouble. But yea all ways wanted a whippet lol

  28. Why would anyone want the British in the peace talks when it was Boris that scuppered the Minsk Accord under the instructions of the Yank's. Another cnut with an enormous amount of blood on his hands that not so long ago lads on here were calling the great saviour. Oh and Farage is another cnut who will sell the British to the highest bidder.

  30. I also have an X-Trail my second one, had them for six or seven years. Would get another if the one f**k up, Diesel mind. I put some town and country style tires on them and take them up across field and tracks. Good about of room when the seats go down and do a fare bit of logging, ferreting and out after the fungi. Slept in it a couple times with the seats down and an air bed at the THL fishing comps. Cheers Arry

  32. Both of mine could swim before they went to nursery . Both my late wife , and myself, saw it as an essential life skill , that could keep them alive . They were also taught to cross a road safely , not long after , for exactly the same reason. When I watch my kids cross the road now ( theyre 28 and 30). They still , stop , look , and , listen.

Back to concrete the cow shad floor this afternoon, now we know it’s all working properly, was in the shed with the farmer, he was sorting out some beef that’s going tomorrow, 3k each, I said, I won’t worry about putting my bill in to which he said if they don’t do over £2600 you won’t be getting paid

  39. The lack of rabbits also on my daily walks is probably another reason I have to be truthful to myself in having a dog that will not get the chance to use it's purpose in it's life and the amount of roe and hare's i see on daily relaxing walks would probably become a bit more lively even with a well bred whippet.

  40. I had 2 bull X's took in a raid by the RSPCA special branch in the early 90s both were returned half there original weight and with kennel cough and fleas a so called animal charity yet killed thousands of perfectly animals through lack of funding but can chase a few fox hunts through courts costing millions because they said they chased a fox and then lose there cases

  41. I’ve got a big strong non ped whippet. Blue dog stands at 22” and built like an outhouse, been an excellent working dog for me although he is way to keen on deer for my liking. Despite his size he has caught several fallow but also takes a fearful kicking at times but doesn’t seem to put him off. I would have another but would be very careful about the dog as would want another big string one which aren’t so easy to find.
