Mate my Wheaton x bitch is 27 tts and 80/90 lb fighting weight...had her out ferreting from first jabs with longnets etc, around the harris/gos hawks, she's done everything you would use a whippet/smaller dog for,she loves the deer, that's what she's mostly used for,she comes out ratting,on the moles with me, people have told me she only be good for one thing...she runs forest blocks, hills, even been down on the chalk/flint and put plenty to bed,I believe you expose a dog to as much as you can,as young as you can, giving them the opportunity to pick it all up,they learn when to use their speed, s11 points

you know when you laugh about me summer with pups before first season lol well you have a pup it’s a hunting dog so you go out everyday letting them play run fight course each other then at some point its nose will take over then it will spring something and all the while it’s around cover etc so it’s comfortable around it not running into branches because it ain’t been off a lead and it’s that fired up seeing something it goes 209 mile an hour7 points

Class that bitch mate up there with the best i have watched on film in a wile. Very good around hedges and cover it pays off getting them around cover as pup's that's obviously to see in the vid.7 points

It was life changing for my dad having grandkids . Before my kids were born he was slowly turning into a miserable old b*****d . Years of recovery from a broken back after falling through a loft hatch in work , the realisation his retirement wouldn't be the free time to do what he always wanted that he had planned because of his back etc . Grandkids came along and it was as if life was breathed into him. If he didn't see them for 3 or 4 days my mum would message " could you bring the kids around for a hour or so if you've got time, your dad's getting cranky not seing them " He made blow6 points

I had a whippet as a youngster but it wasn’t upto much due to fact we lived in middle of Glasgow, she tried tho an we was young so it was all experience for us. About 15 years ago I was hard at the lamping, catching rabbits for game dealer, few lads off here used come through here couple times a week an we would lamp all night, my bitch took real ill an needed pts, I was gutted went lamping couple times without dog, to neck the bunnies an drop them in the back pack while lad holding lamp was runnin another, it’s how we done it. Was a lad with us from Halifax who bred whippets, still does.4 points

Hope you're doing ok mate.....probably like yourself i have folk around me who try to be kind and supportive who you push away in an attempt to take it on the chin and try to just endure the pain alone but im gradually learning that it does help to listen to people....a quote someone said to me a while ago that stuck with me as something to hold onto is that " Grief is the terrible reminder of the depths of our love "...wish you the best pal.4 points

We bought a whippet pup just as a pet. I promised the Mrs I wouldn't work it. After a lifetime of late night adventures, injuries to the lurchers and outside dogs, I'm a reformed character. Mutt is spoiled to f**k and the wife's toy. Fair dos.She gets a real bang out of it. I do miss bringing up a lurcher, entering it , mooching and lamping though. But time catches up.4 points

If anything reading the terribly sad story’s on this thread should make you all feel like you ain’t alone. Theres story’s here that would have most men unable to stand up in the morning, crushing…..and yet ordinary every day blokes find a way to carry on. Nobody can take another blokes pain away but this thread is testiment to the fact that people just like “you” can find a way to cope and live and contribute some kindness to the world…..that’s the very best way to honour someone imho.4 points

I’ve got a big strong non ped whippet. Blue dog stands at 22” and built like an outhouse, been an excellent working dog for me although he is way to keen on deer for my liking. Despite his size he has caught several fallow but also takes a fearful kicking at times but doesn’t seem to put him off. I would have another but would be very careful about the dog as would want another big string one which aren’t so easy to find.3 points

Breed as in peddle? Nobody just breeds on regular basis unless they are in it for the £££. You'll find litters of collie crosses if you keep on looking.3 points

Why would anyone want the British in the peace talks when it was Boris that scuppered the Minsk Accord under the instructions of the Yank's. Another cnut with an enormous amount of blood on his hands that not so long ago lads on here were calling the great saviour. Oh and Farage is another cnut who will sell the British to the highest bidder.3 points

To be fair mate he is probably one the guys I’d get in contact with when time comes, iv always really waited for litters. What I do most lurchers can do, some better than other but I don’t mind how good they are as long as they try haha so iv always waited for good litters off guys who have thought about what they doing an had previous success. Part of reason I do what I do is I enjoy bringing young dogs on, a then playing to there strengths as they adults. But aye I’m thinking about rebuilding me kennels soon whilst they empty, but soon as they sorted I’ll deffo be looking for summat an gl ma3 points

The hardest thing I've ever done was watching my daughter get married this past weekend.Im still crying.I taught her to catch crawdads when she was little. She had a natural talent for bowfishing. She loves to shark fish. She had always been my digging partner with terriers until one day she brought this boy along with us who is now my son in law. Feeling gutshot from losing my digging partner, fishing partner and daughter in the blink of an eye. Any of yall men with little girls, hug em and take em fishing while you can.3 points

A spaniel will pull on the lead. As you know they are high energy/ driven. Not good for a lady pensioner. Just arrive home with a cute whippet pup as a present for her. Wrap it in a pink bow. Job done.3 points

If you are gonna drop em you don't give them 150 yards head start... like you say its lazy though, I don't think it teaches them much imo..each to their own though, if nothing else this site has taught me other the years we certainly ain't all the same! Lol3 points

Thank you lads. I’ve spent the day balling my eyes out, scaring people with my attitude, yelling, getting beat by the mrs at pool, forcing myself to eat, nearly threw the fridge out of the window coz it packed up and I’m pretty sure Spotify knows how to piss me off coz the song I had to carry our kid too just randomly came on in a rock list. My mum has Alzheimers so I can’t talk to her about it because it makes it like it just happened again for her. My mrs has been my rock today and kept me out of bother. My head is battered yet you lads have shared your hearts and helped keep me sane..3 points

Shame about Catterall. It was close. Does Parker have a chance? I think so. The logical argument is Dubois is born again,is fulfilling his potential and that he will easily overpower Dubois. But Parker is no mug and is also a better fighter under new trainers than he was. And Dubois leaves himself exposed nearly all of the time. Parker's best chance imo is to take Dubois into the later rounds and see if he can get into Dubois' head. Just maybe Danny the quitter will reveal himself again. Looking forward to it.2 points
