Phil,I don't think there's a man alive with the longevity in this game like yourself, people come & go but you've never took your foot off the pedal so to speak, not for a minute, you've been there got the t-shirt more times than you could shake a stick. I was just a young lad & was envious of your achievements then,I'm 58 in a few weeks time so that in itself speaks of the longevity you've had with working lurchers. Decades before this internet malarkey came along your name was right up there on a pedestal because of what you were doing with the cur dog's. If ever a man has earned the r4 points

I know Sharon and can assure you she is the real deal she has also captured some good pictures there is nothing fake about her she lives in a very active area and is known and trusted by a lot of farmers and land owners sadly she doesn’t do trail cams though we have recently sent her some to put out she puts in a lot of effort and has had success on the back of it p.s that is now the fifth set of positive dna we have gat from the uk we are getting there slowly but to some it will never be true because they haven’t seen it themselves but they are not willing to put in the miles to find out for4 points

My Mrs think's WAY more about Boots than she does me,which is no surprise really ..she has just had a pic of Boots I took only the other day put onto a small slab of slate for me..I now have both of my A-Team in Ruby & Boots on slate. You can never take enough pictures of your canine friend's because in the blink of an eye they could be gone & you may be left with nothing but faded memories..I will remember the day I took this pic forever thanks to this piece of slate..May 10th 2024 etched on the rear of the slate, with that I know Boots was 11 year's,7 month's & 10 day's old..he4 points

Agree totally with you mate hunting with dogs in the future will become a clandestine activity to protect the individual against what i believe will be more outrageous laws and punishments for the ordinary folk who most it's in their blood and what i believe is in the DNA to utilise man's best friend to hunt other animals4 points

This morning the bullfinch chicks jumped the nest. Only time a seen them really was when a ringed them & just their heads when getting fed by parents. But could resist going in & picking them up. Out of all the birds bullfinch young are so tame it's unreal. The other two were getting fed by the parents at the side of me. It's mad how the parents get tame too in the breeding season.3 points

Mitch and Wally, proud hunters from the Northumbrian coalfields of Ashington stand here today as the living legacy of over 30,000 years of man hunting with dogs, natural hunting. They don't write this stuff in books, they actually DO it and practise the arts handed down over generations. This is sacred stuff. It's in their DNA. The cultural heritage of mankind is man's oldest try at life.....hunting. Labour is trying to eradicate their way of life and persecuting a minority group with protected beliefs in a campaign of misguided class warfare. This is their story. Seen this doing t3 points

Such kind and thoughtful words Brother,. much appreciated... Good old Don, eh... I remember your kindness when you generously said that I could use him over my Dusty bitch..... Everything was planned for the long trip North from downtown Hampshire, I had my Bus fare sorted and some sandwiches packed....and then,.. a massive feck up with the dates,.. and almost overnight my bitch was standing, ready and willing,... a wee bit premature,.so I had to quickly make contingency plans to use a local Stud dog...No complaints,. the Red Cur did a fair job and my small litter was a succe3 points

I was doing a course once and the lecturer described a painting as a" phantasmagoria of metaphysical and existential phenomena". A scouser sat next to me said to him " what the f**k does that mean? The lecturer got really flustered and couldn't answer. A phoney exposed I reckon.Lol3 points

Well I'm a lifelong advocate of the Herding composites,...I find them real easy to school for most of the tasks that I needed them to do,.. BUT,...my tumultuous decade of using a Saluki hybrid for freelancing,...assisted me in getting on the housing ladder (and nobody in my family had ever managed that)..so, I would have to say that (for me personally) no lurcher hybrid can match a powerful , quality Saluki lurcher, for all round harvesting of saleable critters,...be they Hares, Deer or shushis.... However, such driven canines do require an equally driven partner to bring the best out o3 points

Just to add regarding my trip to the vet's to see about Boots eye,he's totally 100% blind in it & the eyeball itself is swollen. The vet's believe he's suffered a 'slipped lens' due to a trauma, again for what he's been used for in latter year's I can well believe it,being dragged & kicked for long distances & often long periods of time it's more than possible he's took one or more 'taps' to his face & eye in particular. Because of his age although in great health they weren't too keen to put him under anesthetic to have it removed although they said that maybe what it comes to.3 points

The one's I seen in my younger day's were far from 'hardy types' in fact quite the opposite mC..I hated them or the ones I seen working anyway. In the past 20 year's or so I've seen some very good one's,the spread of the internet allowed me to meet up with people with Saluki types through forums such as this & fortunately I had my mind changed about them, especially for daytime work. There's good dog's of all types, hardy dogs amongst them. I had decades of great hunting with heavily saturated collie types, they were the types that etched my path in regards to hunting & I will always lov3 points

One of the main things that stops football companies from making larger profits is maintaining and running a huge all seater stadium , covid proved that they vast majority can still turn a profit without supporters present . imho we will see at the next cycle of huge club stadia upkeeep , smaller venues of 25 - 30 k seats at prices at the very threshold of seating for a 2.4 family. The brand of the clubs is much more important than the fan base . Premier league games playing abroad is the first step in this . They want the history and the brand rights , the local and regular fans aren’t3 points

Am the same with mine , if it's dry and burns it's going in ! And if it ain't nailed down it's in the van and coming home with me lol. Years ago while I was mooching about I found a council yard with logs in. So went back with my mate very early one Sunday morning and we dressed all in hi viz to look like council workers. We went in 2 cars with 2 wheel barrows and filled our boots. A couple walking there dog was suspicious and asked us what we was up to. I said I was on community service lol and cracked on and filled the car and van. We did the yard a good few times before it dried up. I wou3 points

I’m no expert when it comes to Salukis or their crosses but I’d definitely say my saluki type has a different running style to him when we are on the hills. 1/4 saluki with a tiny dash of collie and the rest is grew. He’s clever and has a way of gliding over the rock piles. Decent nose and coat on him and loves to hunt up and find things. He’s coming up to 11 now and not slowing down much.2 points

I absolutely do, and have debated the state of the EPL on here before. Probably accused clubs of selling their soul, where in reality it’s been slowly pilfered away by people whose only motive is to maximise profit and market share and who give zero fcuks for the man on the terracing or the integrity of the actual sport. The game changed forever with the advent of subscription tv early 90’s. Apparently the EPL is now the ‘best league in the world’. I don’t dispute that it has some of the very best players and managers in the game.., a game which has changed a fair bit tactically and with all t2 points

I had Boots at the vets in the past fortnight regarding his eye & for an overall health check, two different vets looked him over & said his heart etc was in exceptional order for his age but both agreed saying they had never witnessed a dog of any breed or age with such severe joint issues, that didn't surprise me in the least as I know he broke a bone in his wrist many year's ago now & has suffered extremely badly with back issues for several year's now too. I've ran him pretty much everywhere & anywhere regardless of terrain & with much of his career hunting on the mountai2 points

No,my mother forced me to smoke a ciggie as a small child when she suspected me of nicking her fags (it was my brother,a lifelong smoker ever since)that was enough to put me off smoking and substance for life,I did used to import hydroponic equipment from Hong Kong which gave me an interest in the subject however.2 points

I was emotionally touched yesterday, I saw a homeless man sitting in the shop doorway. I had a couple of quid so I went over to read his placard. It said "One day you could be in my position" So I thought hey he could be right. I put my money back in my pocket and fkked off.2 points

Yep, the van and the car with the tentbox on top. Tomorrow they're going up again on the MTBs. Then a rest day before the next bit, they're watching for a weather window to do a 2 night 3 day kayak trip around the Orkneys. They've got a few days booked in a croft somewhere so the girlfriends and Jims mum are flying up to join them. Sadly I couldn't make this trip but I did Snowdon with them last year. Well they did Snowdon, I stayed and did some kayaking, cooked their meals and did their laundry!2 points

I saw a Louis Vuitton travel case from the days of long boat voyages over a century old today, touched the handles and wondered it’s journeys, worth 10’s of 1000’s of pounds (Alongside its modern counterpart).2 points
