just a update on young whippet, 22 months now, not a big bitch 19tts and 23 pounds. catching quite regularly, rabbit, squirrels, mice etc. marking and hunting up spot on, try her lamping in September. a few setbacks, stitches in chest and had leg stapled, but she's very committed, overall really happy with first whippet.14 points

This all reminds me of an old friend of my Father's. Not a cabin, but a cottage, out in the middle of nowhere. Back in the 90's, my father used to do a lot of hunting, and fishing, and got in with this boyo that lived in an old cottage on the banks of the river Shannon. It was a very old house, probably his home house, where he grew up. Maybe his grandparents house. Now, we are talking 1990's, not 1920's, but this place looked and felt like you were stepping into another era. Big open fire with an old crane for cooking over. No electricity, so no fridge. Gas lighting, powdered mil12 points

I lived in statics on our little farm in Kent when I was a kid. We still retained a house in London but out of the two the caravan was the place I’d rather be, it was magical and the best childhood a kid could have. I’d say, if a static means you can live in a decent place free of being a slave to banks and officials raiding your pocket, if it means your kids don’t have to live in a shithole town that is hell bent on entertaining and emulating the 3rd world…..then living in one is the very definition of sanity ?10 points

Khan made his living suing the British taxpayer for his 3rd world friends, all sorts of disgusting creeps and people who hate us……it’s well known and well documented and has been for years. He was also paid to do it by the British taxpayer because almost all of it was legal aid funded. The Far Left Conservative party also knew this……and upto now, they never said a f***ing word ! Why not ?……maybe because they are also part of the same betrayal? A very senior figure in the equally far left Labour Party, they didn’t have a problem with having such vermin in their fold !8 points

I've just had 2 weeks in 2 different statics down in Dorset mate. I thought it was OK to be honest!! Lol.. Right on the beach at the second place. View off the decking. Just snapped that pic of the people walking and camping the coastal path there. Just make out the van on the right.. Looking opposite way way down the beach. I had some cracking long views of a Perigrine on the top of that cliff..6 points

Its only my opinion after reading about them on some of the Facebook pages but he seems to be cornering the market for folks who are worlds apart from some of the rouges and ner do wells known for keeping lurchers about them and more for the upper class folk who love the country shows and have moved from city's to live in the countryside if they are biddable and easy to live with lurchers then i don't think he will struggle to find homes for them from folk who won't get rid of them the first thing time they do something wrong.4 points

Good to see that lads are still debating various subjects,...it kinda gives an old enthusiast a wee bit of hope.....? Back in the day,...I bred several litters of nondescript , roustabout working lurchers... We used a local herding dog which his owners labelled,... a Blue Shag.... I watched the dog working both sheep and cattle, and I liked his style... So, I put him across my honest old mouching/coursing bitch,...Mercedes? Every resulting litter produced amazing looking pups,..and they generally came out extremely heavy coated, blues or Wheaten in colour. Several4 points

I've been visiting Skeg on and off my whole life and I think it's a general drop in standard of females theses days to be honest. They don't make women like they used to. Take my late mum for example. Always on the go.. a proud woman with high standards. I used to wake up on a school morning and smell that day's dinner being cooked before she went to work so it was ready and waiting for us when we got home and running the hoover around at the same time! Not the greatest sound to wake up to as a teenager! Also.. I could go out on a Friday night and the shirt I'd worn would be washed and ironed4 points

Cheers mate. No, not the very end one. It was about 5 or six vans down. Lovely view out to sea though and me and Mrs spent some time on those beach's with either a cuppa in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. It looks like i didn't take a pic of the van, this gives you an idea though. Overrun with bunnies living under the vans! Tree fossil on the beach just down from the site. Walked it into West Bay.. pretty much dead on a mile. Obviously.. being with 3 females we had to catch the buss back!! Lol. Just found the link to it..3 points

Ended up about 38 yards double strand rigged on 20. Think it’s 15 deep. Ran out of twine and didn’t fancy any more. Got 3 home made nets now a 50,25 and this one. Can’t see me making any more as I have enough now to see me out. Will draw line at stop nets and gate nets from here in3 points

Jesus was crucified at the place of the skull (calvary in Latin). hence why the skull and crossbones gets put on some crucifixes. Its also said to be where Adam was buried (Adam and Eve) so kind of linked to that to . Normally memento Mori is shown as a skull or a skull with an hour glass .3 points

Let’s not make this a “whippet v Saluki; which is best hare dog ? “ thing. My point was that the old non-ped whippet was an “all rounder” , a more versatile dog than the modern version. Which in my opinion lead them to be less injury prone . There main purpose was to race, but could also put a rabbit, hare or even in some cases , a roe in the bag. I had a few non-peds that were quite proficient at taking daytime hare, but as I moved away from racing and more into hunting and coursing I turned to purpose bred lurchers. Today the people who race non-ped whippets are only inte3 points
