I work with a load of relatively young men . Many of them talk utter shite , that I can barely understand.4 points

When I got back into the Lurchers it was mainly for lamping. I’ve ended up going down this road and it’s my favourite sort of hunting. My dogs still lamp and ferret but seeing them running and hunting on the hills is great. Get out where no one else is and let the dogs hunt up. I’ve seen a few different types hunt the hills. Start them off with a decent hill dog and the penny soon drops.4 points

I thought.the same mate, if you look at how some of these tribes that live in the middle of the rainforest exist, they have no impact at all on their surrounds and use the forest to live from medicine to food... to suggest man as a whole does not have a negative impact on the planet is pretty naive in my opinion.. the oceans are full of waste and our land fulls are brimming, we dump sewage in our water systems and into the sea, we wreck whole eco systems from rainforest to coral reefs... I'm not sure modern man offers much as a whole to the good of the planet...a very small proportion of the 83 points

You might be right about about modern humans but I imagine very early humans had near zero effect on the planet and nature itself . We were just another part of nature right in the middle of it unlike now where we exist almost outside of nature .3 points

Definitely unlikely, bordering on the impossible.? I'm slightly dubious about the bullfinch too as I discovered yesterday that my low "pay attention dogs" whistle sometimes triggers the bullfinch response on the app too. Ironically, when I realised and tried to reproduce the same note it then kept telling me it was a golden oriole. I must be a bit Percy Edwards.? However, despite these few examples, I'd say it's definitely more positive than negative. I'm fairly good at recognizing the commoner bird calls but I've learnt a few more since using it and it's also opened my eyes to how c3 points

Starting a sentence with "So" An "existential" crisis. "Going forward" I want to "flag up". All yuppie words spawned to make the user sound smart. Irritating!2 points

as you prob know game bred apbt , you deff know it weight / height, my pit bitch was 20 in 58 lb, she was reid stuff , they be few game dogs in genes more than likely , she was just a pet really, as i like the breed. and as ive said few times on here, we had staffs when i was kid1962 , our staffs were more like some pits to day, as were old black country lines, they go 16-19 in 40lb- 50lb tall leggy fit dogs, no good in a KC show lol. and had Bull mastiffs , my male dog won alot of shows in the 80s, he prob was one of your more healthy ones , big dog but kept him spot on 27in 145 lb2 points

Lymphodema which is a blockage of the lymphatic system, in pregnancy the pressure of the pups etc was constricting the lymphatic system. Basically lymphatic fluid drains into the legs but can't get out again due to the constriction. Once pups etc out the lymphatic fluid starts to circulate as normal. Ps lymphoma is a blood cancer, the names sound similar ?2 points

You must think I keep bull crosses & run doubled up but you’d be wrong, there’s no bull in my dogs. I’m sure your dogs would show mine a thing or 2 on hares, that’s what they’re bred for it would be strange if they didn’t but when it came to larger edibles they’d be quite a few levels behind. There’s nothing wrong with that as well, pre ban a purpose bred hare dog shouldn’t be expected to show a purpose bred deer dog up at its own game and vice versa2 points

You've obviously heard the 'cardiff Cockney bruvvas'? 'Yeah, sayfe braa, knows worroy means?' Does my fuckn skull in!! Just to add, I hate all the Americanisms and gangster slang too! ?2 points

Stating something, but saying it like it's a question, prolonging the end of the word like an Aussie . We all get in the habit of saying things , a mate of mine replays to everything with ' exactly that' caught myself saying it the other day... I'm regularly bollocking the kids for Americanisms or gangster nonsense like braa. Rubbish they pick up in school or off cartoons2 points

You’re not wrong, thing is with lurchers a lot of the time the dog isn’t even anything special it’s just because it’s got a fancy pedigree with well known names, could be a load of shit & people still rush to breed off it2 points
-
I think in a lot of cases people will have an injury prone dog that really shouldn’t be bred from, but they’ll breed from it anyway because they want to make a few quid off pups or stud fees. Either that or they just can’t admit the dogs no good and start again so it’s easier to pretend it’s all fine, breed from it and just put up with them being injured half the season2 points

That’s a very good point ! I’ve seen it with non-ped racing whippets over the last fifty odd years. They used to be more “heavily boned” and had better feet…….now they are incredibly faster, but “break” far easier. Cheers.2 points

i agree, good strong wrists that fold well back on themselves, but if the foots flat or pastern let down, all the pressure is put on the wrist, and once a dog gets wrist injuries its knackered really.2 points

Just been out for a little wander with the misses and on my way back in found this little chap under a car picked it up and listened out for a parent bird, finally heard some distant calling so went and put him on the hedge nearby, happy to report mother was in attendance soon after, well chuffed2 points
