After another winter it’s time to start a bit of spring cleaning on the good ship lollipop starting with my most essential bit of kit the wood burner that has been running non stop since October, today it’s warm enough that I don’t need it going for a few hours so have just stripped it down and removed the chimney, not surprising it’s been getting a bit hard to light lately ?6 points

It's true.....there is a multi-generational culture of living the good life on benefits. Generations who have never witnessed or experienced work, living on benefits are the norm for them. Not every young person is academically inclined, true, but I believe everyone has a talent, has potential, it just needs to be discovered and nurtured. I have often thought that EVERY young person, say between the age of 15-20, whenever they feel ready for it, should do some sort of 'national service' for a year, where they can experience participating in a wide range of community activity, should it be co6 points

Short term yes the UK needs skilled immigrants, health care, engineers etc.The average uk kid doesn’t want to be an engineer nor nurse in general, but some countries are bursting with graduates who will apply and readily fill the UK skills shortages, train Brit kids but it’s going to take years and a mindset change,a lot of Brit kids think influencer or YouTuber is a genuine career path.Study and schooling are the way forward for the UK.6 points

Had a call out last night but nothing showed. Farmer had three lambs out near the farm on decent ground and ones disappeared. I’m not convinced it was a fox but sat out until midnight as you do. I’ll have a walk over later. Managed four big rats with the rimmy so not a wasted night5 points

Back to the game and sheep farm last night. It stopped raining about 7.30 and the forecast was clear for the rest of the night so I thought I would go and see if I bumped into a particular fox that I knew was on the ground or it’s mate. This vixen is another that completely ignores any calls and is very wary . I have two cameras up on this farm and before I set off I had an alert on my phone. When I checked it there was a fox on camera 2 at 8.06pm. I met my mate at the farm at 8.45pm and we went to where the fox had been heading. After 45 minutes of nothing at all I thought we may be better at5 points

While im sure you have a better record than both Don Mayfield and Earl Tudor combined i like to think the point of the story and the reason Don told it to Mo and down the line to folk like myself was that not every dog needs to have won matches to create successful lines.......Don created one of the greatest lines of bulldogs in the history of the game with a dog that had never won a match.....old timers like that just had an eye for a dog and the game test was enough to see what he wanted to see. Not as good as your eye for a dog granted and im sure your record stacks up well against old5 points

Being an unashamed Plastic Paddy (the "family name" came over here in 1873 but loads of other Irish blood on all sides) I'm off out soon to celebrate. Think we'll have a whiskey drink we'll have a lager drink, we'll sing the songs that remind us of the good times, we'll sing the songs that remind us of the bad times. Probably.4 points

Trouble is not all kids are academically inclined to study. My grandson who has just turned 15 his work ethic is through the roof he has a grass cutting round and dog walking round in the village he lives he has just done a test to get an apprenticeship at a large engineering company in Rotherham but my Daughter fears he won't get it due to not passing the exam though the work experience he did at a HGV mechanic garage the owner said he was the best lad he had had and has offered him an apprenticeship but it's something that he doesn't want to do. There must be thousands of younguns up and dow4 points

The trophy hunting was getting a whopping on the news this morning too. There was a conservationist lady on there defending it but she stood no chance. Even though she new her stuff. Not some thing I would ever want to do but I understand why some would. Its all doom and gloom now a days. But we will just keep on a going4 points

Yes there are scumbags in every colour and nationality . But we still don't have room for anymore migrants ?. Not sure how difficult a concept that is. And if we do decide to squeeze some in it shouldn't be done on a basis of if you can get here you can stay. As the majority that get here are young men. Not the women and children we would normally want to prioritise. When we have had Muslim and African migration at the level we have allowed it's destroyed cities and towns, brought extra cultural issues and reached a level where those people don't need to integrate because they live4 points

You are talking about breeding for traits that are purely about physicality.....how fast a dog runs is a physical/athletic thing.....how fast a horse runs is a physical/athletic thing........the physical/athletic side of how well a dog can fight is way down the list of priorities......gameness is a state of mind, something i always liked to call a man made reversal of nature. Inbreeding within game dogs is to lock in a state of mind NOT how hard the dog bites or how well the dog can work off a stifle hold etc....the minute you start inbreeding game dogs for anything other than gameness you3 points

Most are in the same format and are only worth keeping for the photographs. D Harcombe's books a bit different and worth reading. D B Plummer? Great reads IMO. Eddie Chapman, all good. But the stand out, the greatest book ever written on working terriers is Lucas' Hunt & Working Terriers. A window into what must be the "golden age" of terrier work? A time when it was good to be an Englishman before the Sun set on the Empire. Not all Englishmen of course, at that time half of my lot where already grafting down the pits or cannon fodder and the other half were still classed as Irish low3 points

I would not be happy one bit Union's should stick to representing their members in the workplace and concentrate getting better T&C for their members. I am in the GMB Union to me they are an insurance policy if i had an accident or the company tried to sack me without a good reason.2 points
