  9. There may be one glint of light here all. The angling fraternity have highlighted many of the positive benefits of the sport to peoples physical and mental health therefore fishing it may be OK. Notably though we may find that its older people and possibly women coming into the sport rather than being passed down from parents/family to children. Its not perfect but it is what it is. Casting for Recovery Tackling Minds | Fishing isn't a sport, it's a way of life!!!!

  13. Unfortunately that information is incorrect. There is no exemption within the Act which permits the use of dogs below ground in order to control rabbits, any such activities are restricted to foxes only. I've notified the C.A. this evening and they will be amending their guidance notes. Just for the record, the previous Act (2002) permitted the use of dogs below ground in order to control foxes and mink. When rabbits were introduced into the scope of the Bill the NWTF put forward an amendment suggesting that in the section relating to the use of dogs below ground the references to "foxes

  16. There are people that hunt that don't agree with certain methods of hunting (look at the big game debates, or the disdain from some for mounted hunts)... there is no solidarity to the one cause which is to protect century old practices and traditions... if hunting could align with fishing there would be millions more supporters... if hunters could align with each other it would be a start

  21. Maybe its geographical as in my rural community where i was brought up nearly all local anglers also had another fieldsport hobby. Can't argue with what you are saying though especially after my experience of living in Cardiff where many of my work colleagues fished, but were against hunting etc. Aled

  24. 99% of those that only fish would not ally themselves to the hunting and shooting world. Plenty of us that hunt and shoot will also fish but we're the minority in the fishing world. They don't want to be tarred with that brush. My point is, what the fishing mob are doing is of no benefit to us. IMO

  27. Been a while since me and SeanC have got out ferreting together... asked last week "what do you wanna do Sunday mate, fish or ferret"... he was up for a day with the ferrets so half 7 this morning we were off... This is a good bit of perm, you can hit sections of hedge and big banks and knock out half a dozen then move on to the next..that was the plan for today and for once it went like clock work...well after the first section produced nothing, it had me thinking a bit, youngish ferrets, would they push enough (my old faithful have all gone on now and you never give the youngsters enou

  30. It's kind of an "all elephants are grey but not all grey things are elephants" situation. I accept that most hunting and shooting folks either fish or are on board with it but I don't accept that the inverse is true, not these days anyway. I don't want fishing to be punished for it's lack of support, but I don't believe 'they' are allies.

  31. Hunting and fishing is both one and the same, a means to put food on ones table, they look after and manage the marine environments and hunters do the same on land, about time they worked togerher, as i hunted and fish myself and so do many others, but theres those among the ranks that think they are superior than others, they would sink all round them, they are the people to watch

  35. Everyone i hunt with fishes as well, I dont do any shooting so we all either sea fish or coarse... the few shooting lads i know are into fly fishing... I think the geographical comment could be right though ad to me fishing and hunting are pretty much combined, but we have easy access to the sea and to the land so that may play a part?

  40. In Foreman's case because the quality of opponent was infinitely better back then. In Tyson's case because he wasn't a great fighter. He always quickly unravelled psychologically when he couldn't intimidate an opponent early on. In his last fight he quit. I honestly believe Wilder wouldn't have made the grade as a sparring partner in the seventies which was the heyday of heavyweight boxing. He has a freakish windmilling punch. End of.

  42. That legislation is so flawed? What if the man with the gun,..wounds the rabbit....and how quickly does this Bird of Prey, dispatch a rabbit? Surely a nice gentle, fetch back to the handler is preferable,..especially to the poor old rabbit...?

  43. Hare coursing dogs have the shortest careers.. prime years are 2, 3 and 4. lamping dogs tend to be more prone to injuries, so a dog that’s lamped 2/3 times a week, would be doing well if it’s still working after 7/8 years old. My old dog was still catching at 10, but nothing like his younger years..
