Just been across the woods and I noticed a young fallow that looked like it was tied up so got the dogs secure to a post and walked over to find the poor buggers back leg was in a snare made out of washing line and attached to top of the fence , I got her free and checked her leg ,it was bad but she standing on it so I placed over the fence and she ran off so she should be ok ,

My 3 have all been out digging,lamping ,ferreting,fishing, shooting since probably 3)4 yrs of age...The only thing I will be encouraging them to keep up is fishing and ferreting for as long as it lasts ...the dog game is f****d imo?

Wtf are you on about you complete clown... I still bring a lurcher when out with terriers some days... Why? Incase a fox bolts and I can't get a safe shot off due to livestock or many many other litigating circumstances... Fox bolts lurcher catches and dispatches the fox in a quick humane manner... Absolutely no laws broken and a fox has been dispatched job done quickly cleanly and humanely... if I'm on a pest control call out at night again due to specific reasons the lurcher will be tool of choice again done quickly cleanly quietly and humanely... Forcing anything on kids tend to back fire .My lad was out with me at 7 years or so ,shot his first deer at 10 ,allegedly . He then had a lay off for few years while he sorted out his love life at work .He’s now with a country girl who fits in very well with our family and he’s back at it making me a very proud dad . When a status symbol is considered more important than your childs safety then you have real issues, which I don't see any legislation changing to be honest. For your average joe bloggs there is no reason to own these types of dogs, reports say it was an American Bulldog, these are not your ideal family pets are they?? This is not about owning a family pet though, a dog for the kids to grow up with, this is a "look at me" dog, if it was a one off you could say it was coincidence, but this is happening 3 or 4 times a year now same types of dogs same types of owners...

Went to the funeral of my 23 year old brother in law last year who hung himself and I can say that was not something I ever thought I would have to do and it was harrowing. Look out for those around you lads you just never know what people are dealing with in their own heads. Looking around at the funeral it was genuinely the most tragic thing to see how many people would have been there for him if he had just reached out. Anyone that feels that black dog stalking them just talk to someone.

Best way to teach em young my youngest is 6 he's all for the dogs oldest is 8 and hasn't missed an outing all season first thing he does when we're home is fill a bowl up of warm water with tcp and washes there feet and feeds up. Teach them right ?

I don't think they understand that a lot of shot animals escape to die a lingering death compared to next to none when hunting with dogs. A lot of prey animals get chased by predators on a daily basis so I don't think this stresses them out too much.
