Andy's man club . Ok it sounds like somewhere our Mushroom ? would go for a sauna.... But give me chance to explain... The leading cause of death in men under 30 is suicide. I know 3 men who have been good friends in the past who went on to take their own life, I know numerous others I wasn't close to but were school friends or acquaintances. Apparently a young man takes his own life every 2hrs. Andy's man club takes its name from Andy Roberts who took his own life aged 23. It was started by his friends to give men a chance to meet and talk without judgement. They meet at 7pm on Mon22 points

Hard topic for most men to deal with, we tend to keep everything bottled up and talking about your problems is deemed a weakness. I think we all have our low points, life in general throws certain amounts of shit at you that you have to deal with, I think I'm pretty lucky that I've never been what I consider depressed. I have seen and been there through quite big parts of my life watching and being a part of the effects of severe depression. I hate the new trendy "my mental health is suffering"... it's thrown around to easily for my liking, using it for social media likes or to avoid hard conv11 points

Aint that the truth mate... Surely the increase of coke users has some bearing, whether its the debts they get themselves into or the affects of the drug who knows. But I do know that when we were first getting out and about in pubs, clubs etc I didn't know hardly any coke users.. e's were a big thing in the rave scene obviously but amongst my crowd that wasn't our thing... now if I go out pretty much half the pub is doing coke, from the 18 year olds to the 50 year olds... lads that I wouldn't ever thought would be bothered by drugs are off to the toilets for a line... I find it embarrass9 points

I think depression is something that you can only really understand if you have experienced it , ive had black dog days like anyone but I've never really been depressed ,I have lost a couple of friends to suicide though so anything that helps can only be a good thing, its important to talk lads ,I'd have done anything to help my lost friends if I only knew they were suffering.9 points

Ive know a few lads that have deleted them selfs over the years it’s pretty sad to be honest.I suffered a bout of depression about 20 odd yrs ago Id been delt a shitty hand an didn’t know how to deal with it an was at the point that I felt I didn’t want to go on no more what made it worse was drinking an dabbing in drugs it makes your mind not have clear enough thoughts it’s always negative thoughts an you feel that everything is against you an there’s no way out your worse enemy is your own mind. I personally think anything or place were blokes/lads/young men can go for a casual chat an won’t8 points

Last day for me yesterday . Plenty of birds , started off with the duck with instructions to clear them out , if it’s safe shoot them . Well I obliged as it would have been rude not to . I had some memorable birds , some maybe not so memorable. The day was a very mixed bag and I had a fantastic day out with my mate Tim who tries his best to stitch me up and take the piss . I often think to myself ,”with mates like that , who needs enemies “. There is an award on this shoot for the loader who drops the biggest bollock . I’ve dodged it for years but I guess it was my tur8 points

Suicide in men is rife I had to attend a suicidal male last night on a railway bridge all turned out well and hopefully he gets treatment, but any organisation where men can have a chat is a positive thing, I don’t think people do too bad on here to be honest it’s a good place to let off steam and most topics are tackled.8 points

Bit late in writing this but here tis .Yesterday afternoon Id cleared my diary as I was going to have a last day flight on the geese . One of my blokes had an issue with his van so I was late getting there ? I say late but I wanted to have a good look round the ground for signs of the otter I’ve got on trail cam after the floods of late .No sign up the little streams but a decent run along the rivers edge .Will reposition cam . I digress .Got there at 2.30 and walked the river putting a pair of geese up which I managed the pair .One fell in the river never to be picked and the7 points

Went to the funeral of my 23 year old brother in law last year who hung himself and I can say that was not something I ever thought I would have to do and it was harrowing. Look out for those around you lads you just never know what people are dealing with in their own heads. Looking around at the funeral it was genuinely the most tragic thing to see how many people would have been there for him if he had just reached out. Anyone that feels that black dog stalking them just talk to someone.7 points

Only advice i gave him at a later date was if he was feeling that down again is keep off the drink and cocaine and go for a run or a good walk in the countryside.7 points

Bit knackered today was ferreting yesterday but dry day so went out. Two half crowns 1929 and 1935 two foot apart a badly eroded George the 3rd half penny, some horse brasses bit and pieces. Must have had about a dozen 12 bore cartridge ends bloody things. Cheers Arry6 points

People are so quick to pick up on the negative things you do . It doesn’t matter that I have provided faultless loading services all season . An out of control cocker spaniel that I avoided killing, got me the cock head award . Take you for example , you are no doubt an attentive and caring husband , do people say there goes Ben , the great husband ? No they don’t . You are a great father to your kids , do people say “ there goes Ben the great father ? No they don’t. You are good at your job , do people say “ there goes Ben the greatest Shepherd “? I doubt it ………. You shagged6 points

Sniff is one of the worse drugs you can get into imo....wrecks lives,if it gets hold of you, won't take long until you ain't got a pot to piss in...Scumbags are happy to strap folks through the week, kids going to school hungry because mam or dad need 3 for £100...every pub you go too, nothing but jokers back and forth the toilets all night, chatting shit, thinking they scarface?...How many of us,know a Crystal Cindy??6 points

I remember drinking in a pub called The Boathouse, in Lemington, right on the river bank, over fifty years ago, and lads cropping bull dogs ears on the bar table ! Dogs ear on a beer mat, swift slice with a Stanley knife, a coating of flour, and that was that. This was done in the pub when it was open, people sitting drinking, playing dominoes, no one batted an eyelid, it was like being in some dystopian, Dickens novel. Game fowl in the yard, trotters in the stables, lurcher shows in the car park, pair of rabbits, trout or maybe pheasants on the domino card. God knows what4 points

Any lads on here know what these might be worth? I'm going to ebay them, but don't know what price to put on them.. been hanging around for years and we just can't get round to a full restoration job.. got a 30hp engine for one of them. Had one years ago and they've always been sort after little boats...3 points

Worth more than that i'd say and worth doing a bit of research first if i were you on what second hand ribs go for,but i would sort of forget about diving clubs etc as they want up to date super safe together boats.3 points

21 minutes ago, FOXHUNTER said: You need to get out in the field to experience stuff like that. One of my NY resolutions is to try to be nicer, especially to simple folk, so I'm politely ignoring that. I'd thought you'd started to improve last couple weeks.... 3 points

On a positive note. My daughter called me round for advice on the rather sickly baby whippet she'd acquired . It was the only pup left and clearly the runt and had no papers. It also had weird skin problems but being a soft touch (like her Dad ?)she felt sorry for it. Not soft enough to pay the asking price though and she walked away with the pup for the princely sum of £100. One look told me it wasn't even a whippet! Two years on she has a rather good little rough coated lurcher bitch.3 points

The last few weeks I was talking to a few proper sensible lurcher lads, just seeing what type lurchers were running ,and my lads and I fancy ,a saluki hound bull hound type, but it seems the crosses over here are very limited to across the water,...if it's not wheaten x or bull x it's hard to find the type we seek ..it seems there's a lack other types than the above or maybe I haven't met the right man,..the search goes on .... There's some collie bull hounds ,but the kelpies I have have that kind of thing covered ..over the summer I'll have a look about,....bringing a pup in from over the2 points

Sounds like a cry for help mate... which is good! If the lad truly wanted to end his life I don't think he would be posting on FB etc.... it's a desperate situation when you can see no other option but ending your own life, the switch that must flick in your brain to go through with it must be so powerful, we are set on survival mode from birth, for someone to go against that true natural instinct is hard for most of us to comprehend.2 points

We once took a deaf lad out lamping he was a shit hot Lampert when driving down the lanes sat on door. He'd tap on the roof and do antler sign with his fingers on his head. Took hi roosting a few pheasants one night he's walking round a big wood dropping em for fun we heard someone coming from towards keepers house so we've half hid behind some big trees trying to wave at him. he was still shooting em with keeper a few yard off him keeper lit him up with a torch the lad set off running straight to motor ffs was hilarious2 points

True story . I was in our local pharmacy earlier this evening getting a prescription for the wife and this thing walks in .I’m dressed in real tree as I’ve just been goose shooting ,blood on my hands .The weirdo looks me up and down and says quite loudly ,”murderer “to which I replied “paedo “without a second thought ? The cashier says to me “that’s a terrible thing to say “to which I replied “and what it said wasn’t I suppose .” A long silence and the weirdo squealed it was going elsewhere .I got the giggles and so did the cashier and two old ladies in the queue behind me as well2 points
