Naismiths rule states that you average 1 km per 15 mins walking therefore 4 kph in the flat You pass sas selection at 5 kph in the beacons to walk 30 miles in a day let’s call it 48 km you must therefore walking a total of 12 hours constantly to make the distance , that’s without running the dog , sorting game , testing etc that’s 15 hours say fair play mc hull , you must have been on the balcony behind macaleese to maintain that level of fitness regularly8 points

Two types of soldier.... Evolved smart types, like Stiff, who see a borehole and talk about strata. And then there's Neanderthals, like you, who see a bore-hole and probably try to f**k it! Give me strength!6 points

Funny story, but hand on my heart this is true ! My old mate ( the one who u seen his dog run up Caithness). Was roadsiding hares in a mini van with his mush. My mate was in the van and his mate was the driver, anyway they stopped to run a few hares. Next a car is approaching so my mate knocks beam off and stays in the field and his mate drives off to come back for him. Anyway my mate sees the minivan pull up so he marches down field with dog and hares. Jumps fence opens back of minivan to see a copper driving it who says your knicked lol. So my mate gets busted and charged lol. After that the5 points

I honestly ant a clue, i would get up to lakes at 10ish and brew at my marrows, then we would lamp nearly all night mostly till daybreak. And would do the lakes or borders or up on scotch side. Had a few close calls, but didn't everybody. One of the worst nights was my mate slipped his bitch which was mother to my dog on a red hind and that was the last we seen of her, we searched all night and daybreak. I had to return home for work, but the other lads searched and she was never found. It was sickening. No GPS tracking or even mobile phones back then. Had the usual chases of potty farmers a4 points

There were very good minshaw dogs owned all over that were , for me anyway , the best lamping stuff I’ve seen , nothing has come close imho for the pursuit of rabbits and hares from that noble art of lamping off an escort van with the doors open . pure sport4 points

Been quite a bit of rain about, go back and have a look for pug marks if the ground is soft enough, easy enough to see as badgers have five toes unlike most, you can do it shh, the truth is out there, this one is from another member off here that had a similar experience to you, saw it run across at night, went back next day and got these which is pretty good confirmation ??4 points

I am disappointed lads , there's been enough coverage to prove civilian deaths , cities wiped off the map for fecks sake children living in bunkers , sod the russkies. Better to beat them there than here. And Britain is popular in Europe for the first time since brexit , life's good.4 points

Iirc the falklands has feral herds of caribou/reindeer. They also have some great looking wild trout fishing (a lad on here posted about it while he was posted down there). If it was possible to go down there, cull some caribou and roam about spinning for trout and whatever else at an economical cost, I’d be all over it.3 points

Only ever seen the one dog in the flesh....was a very old dog at the time, the man that had it,used to be on here(well known and respected)..he had run lurchers and dug terriers the lenght of the UK and Ireland,he rated them highly.. a man who's word you could trust, and a fountain of knowledge when it comes to hunting ... shame he doesn't come on here anymore...to many ' know it alls' on here...wernt fit enough to pick up his dog shit or lace his boots...same story with most of the old members who don't bother anymore..this site is poorer without their knowledge and input ??3 points

I had mine right back in the 90,s way back before Jim barker bred any, never seen any of his stuff and never heard of the man till the tinternet started. My old dog was a grandson of vics blue, and the stuff me and a few mates ran was heavy collie influenced. For what we was doing and running at the time, I was happy. Put some large critters in the freezer, wasn't the fastest of dogs by any means. And if am honest a lot of the big stuff was caught off a fence or in a gutter or dyke ect. Fun times back then, happy memories, met some cracking friends up in the lakes. But times and dogs change.3 points

Was a great night doing it again this weekend2 points
