Got up to cut silage last night about 9, still like midday mind! Check all my kit before leaving, all good. Still though, had a niggling feeling forgot something, thought not put battery in pard but quick double check and all good. As I come over crest of hill into cut field see a browny red shape mooching along hedge about 600yds..... bloody muntjac! Get set up on sticks & after everything settles I start calling. Get the XM30s out for a scan...... battery dead!!! NO!!! I I'd put it on charge but after getting home discovered I hadn't turned switch on at wall, schoolboy.

Every whippet iv seen has lamped and run rabbits in the day off ditches every season for 7 - 8 seasons, lamped 3 nights a week. I don't know where you get whippets are once a month bunny bashing dogs. I'd pick a strong whippet dog over a saluki for lamping rabbits. Everyone knows the saluki x is best for Hares how could we forget with you around ? these whippets and bull xs you have seen did they just come off a chain and go lamping and stuck on chain 7 days a week without exercise cause any other dog you claimed to of seen can't run after 1 run in January in a wet field. If it’s the latter, you’ve got a saluki greyhound type thing, that’s all you need to know and I hope it works out well for you.

I was always forgetting something, either on shoot days or going out fox shooting. So now I’ve got a laminated check list . Sounds a bit nerdy but it saves a lot of heartache and missed opportunities , and so far I haven’t forgotten anything.
