A collie/grey X deerhound/grey was one of the best general purpose lurchers I've owned, would turn it paw to most quarry, not the best at any particular aspect but did most to a reasonable degree.

One of the reasons I didn’t check that side is , when there was a litter there last I had dog walkers , horse riders , and farm workers all telling me , “ you know there is a litter of fox cubs in that hedge “.And to be honest I wasn’t that bothered about doing them in until the mother took a signet off the lake then the boss issued a fatwa . Hopefully it should be easy enough to deal with them . I’ve got some rabbit traps that I bait with pigeon, works well on hungry inquisitive cubs , I will also wait out to see if there is another fox helper to feed them .

I see them regularly in winter here in France so they must be eating something other than insects. But given the OP mentioned markings on their chest it is worth mentioning that common buzzards nearly always have a shield like pattern on their chests, but their plumage can be anything from very pale to very dark with little consistency even amongst siblings.

8 months, about eighteen and a half kilo and around 24 inches. Feels like a six month old but might be just her or the type. Oh well time will tell, I've still got her on 3 meals a day with a highish protein. She'll happily do an 8 km run down the Tarka trail off lead with me without getting her tongue out but to look you wouldn't believe it. Couple of hours mooching on the sand dunes today to keep a little fitness. I think she'll take a bit of work, getting a bit of speed coming now. Might be a bit more length to come in them legs.
