  1. Always folks buying into dreams peddled by the dreamers..... If you haven't seen said animals graft, or can take the word of someone who has and you trust, then, only got yourself to blame imo. I got no problem with paying for a genuine pup from tidy lads, but some folks want to get their money back soon as, regardless of what the dog is really like...... Everybody has different opinions on what makes a dog worthy of breeding from..... I personally dont believe in breeding from something that has had less than 5 hard seasons..... Others are different, not saying their way is wrong mind. Older

  2. The benefit in giving pups to trusted people is you can keep your line if you loose the pups you keep for your self.the harsh truth with lads moaning about shit lurchers is how many are fed on doctor johns dog shit ,not exercised run 5 nights aweek with no prep.their is far more bad dog men than dogs, you can have failures in all working dogs but for fcuk sake give a working dog a Fair crack at making the grade.

  3. I would love to believe in Karma . Unfortunately there are some that mistake kindness for weakness .But you won’t go far wrong if you treat others how you would like to be treated. Respect the old , and , look after the young . There was an old wrestler called Billy two rivers , and his motto was “love many , trust few , always paddle your own canoe “ . Ive adopted it as my own mantra. And here’s another one for you while I’m feeling profound, yes even gnarly old gamekeepers can have profound moments. “ you can’t change the direction of the wind , but you can adjust your sails to get to your d

  8. I had one as a youngster , coursing bred and brought up as a lurcher, fast but worked field and fell with terriers and ferrets . Lamped, jumped like a gazelle and retrieved. Was almost disembowelled jumping a fence and landed on wire but stitched back together. Hated foxes with a passion and smashed into them but retrieved rabbit live to hand . Still miss him as we had some good years. Unreal drive .

  12. Ive caught green eels to 4lb 6oz from the river, on cockles, mussels, worms, halibut pellets lol infact most things..... Few weeks back in that warm weather we were getting a few when night fishing for barbel. Big ones are 40/60yrs old and like rocking horse shit and should be respected imo, my mates cry if they catch em. Ive found the bigger they are they dont knot up around your line like the bootlace fuckers, give a good scrap too?

  14. yes it was a bit of a tricky one. My gran had after she did her leg in lamping. Then gran died and I had her back and they dotted on each other. So it was the last thing of hers so sort of a double whammy. Any way be a bloody miracle if the present black blunderbus gives me that concern

  19. Breeding a litter is not something I would do unless I need a replacement for my own kennels, if you wait until a bitch is 8 or 9 before you have a litter and then another 8 or 9 years before your happy with pup's in which case one litter out of top class bitch you could not keep a good kennel going like that. I had a mate who had a cracking working bitch did 5 seasons hard craft got killed in freak accident, never had a litter always going to breed from her next time, line lost, wishes he had a litter now.

  20. Buy the best you can afford, that was advice given to me yes ago and it's worked all my life. personally I would go pulsar, because I'm a fan of them. once the initial sting of purchase is forgotten, it should still be performing flawlessly, and also gives the option to do more with it, but if you get a lesser model and get more shooting then you need to upgrade again ! Just my twopenniworth

  21. I think sometimes people try to get themselves a bit of “fame” and think peddling pups is the way to do it. Dropping names this line that blokes line blah blah all piss and wind in my book. Breed what you need to for yourself, make your own choices based on what you need from a dog and then gift the excess.

  23. My regular shoot is only relatively small (10 guns), but I've never seen a single bird go to waste........ I take my fair share, as does anyone else that wants them, but I'll also take any excess birds - I probably got hold of 20 or so last season. I'll dish a few out to a couple of elderly neighbours who miss a nice bit of game. I'll repay small favours with a bird or two, then I'll make any left over into pies, pasties and stews etc for the freezer...........just don't tell the grandkids ! I'll even take any badly shot up birds for the dogs and ferrets - waste not, want not

  29. Its the Best dog ive ever owned..... More like their first dog and breeding for sentimental reasons. Most want to get out and get a proper job.... Not making money peddling pups.... But with most of todays young uns..... No work in the cnuts, gonna get rich through social media?or banging out second rate whiff?

  30. I had a greyhound I reared as a hunter, good on roos and foxes, not very good on rabbits, too big and clumsy.Great mate and a surprisingly good guard dog, but his feet would be bleeding after every hunt.He had great drive and spirit but his build let him down in the tough scrub over here.He was also a great killer of snakes.I can see why they are an almost essential ingredient of a lurcher.

  31. Plenty people peddling lurchers thing is i been the young keen person took in by the spiel n a year later after putting the best of food and time into a dog it isnt worth a rub cant see the sense in people wanting to breed there own lurchers so much theres enough shite about as it is. These old sites can turn average dogs into internet legendd with a good picture or two also.

  34. Men aren't allowed to suffer from depression, it's seen as a sign of weakness to many...especially the older generation. My wife suffered from depression and it's no laughing matter, she just didn't wanna do anything and wasn't the bubbly, happy go lucky woman I married. Luckily she managed to 'get rid' of it but it took nearly a year of medication, talking, doctors appointments etc. It's a serious issue that gets ignored far too often

  40. Nowadays, there is no profit in taking the game, birds, deer, etc... Back in the day, I hunted for the gold doubloons, the concept of sport, did not come into the equation. Of course, it was morally wrong...only a fool would think otherwise,..but there ya go,..what is done is done... I've paid my dues,...and mercifully no longer have a financial need to kill for profit... I've no regrets,...life goes on...?
