Me with my brindle bitch bonnie...Phil in the middle and his mate paul on the right...bolting to the dogs up on the high ground19 points

It has been a privilege to be Phil's friend, work colleague, and occasional hunting partner/photographer. We worked on "stuff" outside of the pest control/lurcher world together and had a good laugh along the way. I have lost a good friend. Rose has lost her best friend and husband. Till the next life mate...17 points

Sad news this...Been out with him a good few times when he used to come up the dales with me and vin... And of course growing up ..used to read all his stuff in the shooting news ...he walked the walk did Phil.....Vin even named one of the fields on our permission Phils field...reason being we would get on the tops...spread out a bit bolting to our own dogs...but as Phil was a guest we would give him the best spot...and the name stuck between us ... I think also Phil might have been the one that originally got Moochers hunting site going... RIP peace Phil....Chalkwarren...12 points

Will there ever be another like him?, not a chance and hope he knew how much he was respected.Gutting to read the news and wish i had met the man as spoke to him a lot over the years about the cattle dog x's in pm's.. May your spirit be at peace Phil and RIP to a real legend...12 points

Sad news indeed my condolences to Phils family and close friends RIP. Those of us of a certain age will have heard the name Phil Lloyd the first time in his weekly page in the then shooting news in the 80s a page in that paper I always looked forward to reading and a name that if it ever cropped up in conversations between other lurcher enthusiasts be it at shows or on the land never once did i ever hear a bad word spoken of the man an indication of how genuine and the real deal he was.12 points

If anyone encompassed the uk lurcher scene , it was him wasnt it . from the bad old days to Lambourne , the ushering in of videos , the ban and the refining of your dog sports into legal and as a business , he will have seen all that . a massive loss to the lurcher world , such a shame.11 points

Phil passed away yesterday 09.05.2025. One of the UKs finest dog men who did a lot for the game over the many many years he lived and breathed it. My condolences go out for his lovely wife Rose who was his constant companion and confident. See you over the bridge with a couple of pugs and a running dog my old friend. RIP.8 points

Devastated to hear of the passing of Phil, spoke to him over the phone many times over the year's. He gave me advice when I asked for it & was an inspiration to me when I was just a young lad. A very knowledgeable man & more importantly a humble & honest fella too. I can recall his Lurcher Journal's some 40 plus year's ago now long before his recent publications, they were inspiring to say the least..Deepest condolences to his nearest & dearest.. sleep easy Phil From a fellow moucher..8 points

Pick up a butchered Lamb from a farmer friend half for me and half for my mate. Did some chops for wifey and I on the BBQ. They were bloody handsome. Cheers Arry7 points

Whether or not they bred great dogs or were the best owners .......there are a few ladies and gentlemen who put pen to paper that have done a lot of good for the game IMO. That said I do think also the change in attitude from public, landowners, police and lurcher owners has completely changed the game so it's hard to compare over the years. There are still plenty of good dogs about I went from catching rats and foxes with our Jack Russells to owning lurchers and ferrets thanks to Plummers books in the 1980s. I met him a couple of times as a teenager and he wasn't disrespectful des7 points

Axel Rudakubana: Southport killer ‘attacks prison officer’ as police rush to HMP Belmarsh WWW.GBNEWS.COM Southport killer Axel Rudakubana ‘attacks prison officer’ as... If theres no strength in it ( which im sure theres not ) then what a disgusting sign of the times when a national icon like that who has brought so much joy into several generations of lives could be totally despised and deminished in such a way......social media could do with banning in my opinion.6 points

Wow ,was not expecting to hear this....deepest condolences to his family...a fountain of knowledge, when it came to dogs and the countryside, and a good egg all-round....he will be missed..RIP MR LLOYD6 points

I met Phil through Ditchshitter in the early 80s and had been in touch and met from time to time ever since . I only hunted with him once to my great regret . He used one of my photographs in one of his books which l considered a bit of an honour. A couple of years ago ,and completely out of the blue , he gifted literally hundreds of his traps to me and l did detect a change in him . I had the feeling that he clearly had other things to do while time was on his side. Phil was a ruthless hunter in his heyday . Mercenary too ; "lt's all about the pounds " was one of his sayings .5 points

Took the words out my mouth....seems a very fishy/fishing thread to be honest. In a country that banned the "type" over 30yrs ago, and the most recent raids ending in a 5yr stretch, you really have to question the motives and/or mental capacity of the original poster.... Yokel5 points

Spent some more time in the Mountains looking for warrior bass again. I bought me a life straw so I could filter water to lighten my load so I could travel faster.Water tasted great. Endangered vermillion darter in the last pic.roughly 2 inches long.took a while to sneak up close enough for a picture.4 points

My 3 pups that I kept back out of Boots x Rose..Gus back left,Tino back right & little Maggie at the front..they were 7 months old on May 6th..the two dog's will be well over 26tts & the bitch about 24tts..I weighed them the day they were 7 months old,Gus was 28.70kg,Tino 29.55kg & the little bitch was 24.50kg..they are all doing really well,so far so good with them..not a bother kind with sheep/lambs,will jump absolutely anything, very very keen pups but so they should be with being 5/8 Greyhound..from birth I've always favoured the black dog Tino & that's still the case,I real3 points

That wouldn't bother me in the slightest, I've had mates who think hunting for sport is wrong, I can actually understand their argument, but if it's in you it's in you, impossible to change, if hunting is your thing it just is in some form or another.3 points

Sounds a bit extreme and somewhat unrealistic to me......deport his entire family, let it be known there are consequences to raising hateful little third world c**ts who wish to do us harm......make the family who raised him accountable. Dont invite a lion into your home in the hope that it doesnt bite you......just steer clear of it.3 points

Just a couple of dead beat knob ends , that thought it would be cool to actually do something, instead of getting stoned , and eating 20 bags of monster munch. Folks are outraged , but 100 years to grow a tree , is just a tiny blip in time. Yes it'll piss some humans off , but itll make no difference whatsoever to the planet. The earth will keep turning , and fuckwits will carry on doing dopey shit.3 points

They should just knock him on the head, and dump his carcass in landfill. The world would be a much better place without his kind.3 points

Well you've said yourself you've only owned a couple of terriers bangers doubt you've done much to be giving out lecture on them and you go on about people being stupid and not having a clue what there on about it's not a secret there was a bit of bull put into them way back but in your case of talking about Staff added to things if you've dug enough you'll know the first cross staff patts usually throw to big for being an all round digging dog you'd have to pick your holes actually you'll be waiting a good bit waiting for it to dig on to stuff but sure everyone's doing it wrong apart from the3 points

A lot of it is down to their customer service mate like has been said it's when any problems arise we had a bad experience on an holiday just after the pandemic sat in Doncaster airport ready to board our flight to Kos and was told by airport staff to go home as the flight was cancelled and to come back tomorrow not one Tui rep was on hand to explain we ended up getting compensation for the cancelled flight though the 400 pound promised of the next holiday in vouchers that you had to use in a limited time in booking another holiday with them never materialised despite numerous calls to them an2 points

yes, im not a fan of crowded fishing...we use to find the quite out the way spot were no one had been...knocking down long grass and growth.....would have probably benefitted us using groundbait all them years ago but being younger we just grabbed our rod/bag and a tub of maggots and off we went.....its funny really...this dace/gudgeon topic came around after i was going through my fishing rods a while back and come across my old rod that i use to catch the dace/gudgeon on....that bought back some good memories....its a 10ft diawa float/ledger rod were you screwed in the swinging tip or a quiv2 points

Only bull would be in the hard bloods by way of the whuppets make up . Wee Bob was non ped ( Indian joe) x a saluki. He threw the boxy head as did Charlie in romeos breeding. If it was there I'd embrace it . Like the fact I have collie , deerhound , Bedlington in my dogs make up from yester year2 points

Look like a pair of weirdos who couldn’t get a ride if they fell into a barrel of fannies. I’d definitely be checking their hard drives too. It’s vandalism at the end of the day, and as such a bit of a fcuk you to the rest of society. But its also a tree, not sure how a court could hand down a lengthy custodial sentence when the won’t jail scumbags caught with thousands of sick images of kids. The world has gone mad.2 points
