In an age where failures in performance are vaunted as “well at least I tried “ and the celebration of masculinity is regarded as toxic . What a fantastic person Kevin sinfield is , and what heartbreaking determination from rob burrows to highlight the devastating effects of that awful disease . proper proper men15 points

Well well well, the big man Nigel Farage has just taken over the leadership of the Reform party I wish him all the best, they say when you hear Drakes drum a hero comes to save the day well that drum has been banging in my ears for a while now.14 points

As some of you might know I was at Doddies funeral and the wake at the heart of rugby, Melrose Greenyards. These guys and all who support the cause, be it family, friends, fellow players, deserve a lot of credit. I hear that three of Doddies pals and indeed fellow players are doing a Europe run to raise funds for the charity. Good on you guys. Jok.7 points

This week. Think I will go but it's not as good as in the past. For a start they are going to close all the pubs. There's always a bit of disorder but it seems a total overreaction to me. The fair must bring in many thousands of pounds to the town. In the past there was always a whiff of chaos in the air especially in the evenings. Nowadays the place is crawling with police and RSPCA personnel dressed to look like cops. In the past you could take a punt on a lurcher pup or buy chickens or goldfinches. But I haven't seen livestock for sale for a few years. However I'm still going. M6 points

My mate and I bought this lurcher off the p***y’s on Newcastle Town Moor in 1972 for £20. Thats my mate, by the way, not me ! They said it was a “staghound”, deerhound/greyhound. It turned out to be one of the best lurchers I’ve ever seen, and up to date is the only one I’ve personally seen that took 100 rabbits in one night on the lamp. So yes, it IS possible to get a good dog from the gypsies. Cheers.5 points

Not a place to take a dog; hot, crowded, and idiots wanting to buy your dog. I’ve never taken a dog with me, far easier without one. Cheers.5 points

Just saw this online and it sums up the last few years in a nutshell. I never bought it and Usyk is now rightly crowned aa the best in the division. Doesn’t mean to say there’s no value in Fury v AJ, or either rematching Usyk. I’d pay to watch.5 points

Sorry to hear about your fall Ray,...it sometimes seems that when you get old,...one terrible thing happens in your life,. and gets followed on by another Now that I have lost a few stone, I am still fairly fit , but the jolly old Osteoarthritis can kick in as and when it chooses, and then,...you ain't going nowhere AS for the dogs,...well, I've said that I am done and dusted so many times, but like a druggie, I have invariably succumbed to the call of the wild, or been tempted by the offer of a fat and juicy pup.....but,...you have to call a halt sometime.... I miss the h4 points

Long, long ago, I had a very good black non-ped whippet called Pot Black, 23” and 45lb; my mate had a black, non-ped whippet called Silly Rocket, 19” and 30lb. Anyway, your aforementioned Sunderland Greyhound Track had a time trial Open meeting on for whippets, with bookies in attendance. We, of course put the smaller, lighter dog in for the time trial, then swapped it for the bigger, heavier, far faster dog in the race, and even though the handicapper still just gave us scratch, we knew we were on a winner ! We put everything we had on it at 3-1, and it won by a distance !3 points

One year I was walking up the field and a p***y had a cage of lurcher pups, I stopped for a look and the guy said “whippet/greyhound pups, £50”, I carried on walking and he shouted “£40, ok give me £30”, but I kept walking. Coming back down the field, a different p***y was selling the same pups; this time it was “saluki/greyhound pups, £30” ! Again, I kept walking and he was shouting “ how about £20 ? OK, a tenner” ! So ; when in Appleby “ caveat emptor”…… Cheers.3 points

Sad as it is of this man's passing and I do hope they find a cure he was privileged to have a great mate and an hero in Kevin Sinfield. R.I P Rob3 points

Wicked disease and a long lingering death. Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. He bore it with much bravery, putting himself in the public eye when he was a shadow of what he’d once been. As said, hopefully his sacrifice, like that of big Doddie Weir, will bring about a cure sooner rather than later. RIP Rob Burrow.3 points

I can’t cope with these people, turned up this morning and more Yorkshire stone had arrived, when I asked why that was here I was told “ we’ve changed the layout and ordered more “ so now we are 48 square meters, 10 grands worth of paving, they haven’t taken into account more sand, cement and most importantly to me time2 points

Sad isn't mate as it's got to be one of the most interesting birds that visits our country. I always remember bird nesting when younger and would always hope when finding a dunnocks nest or a reed warbler that there would be a cuckoo's egg in the nest though we never found a nest where the cuckoo had laid an egg.2 points

Not heard one for a while around me and I am out and about every morning. They must becoming are already are one of our rare migratory birds especially in certain areas where years ago every wooded area and land with gorse and reed beds the calling of the cuckoo was not a rare occurrence like it is now.2 points

Bad knees are the pits, both mine were replaced last year, and I'm pain free in that respect. I'm now 67 years old and had a keyhole operation 8 years ago. At that time, the Doctor reported that he had to remove a lot more of the feathering along the edge of the damaged cartage, that stops any more damage, however it means what is left will spread out thinner in the joint speeding up the wear and tear process. Back then, when I went under the knife, I asked the Doctor if it was ok to go pig hunting the very next day. He told while I couldn't undo his repair, the knee might swell up tight. So o2 points

A good read , Ray. Reminds me of a tale I’ve told on here in the past; me and LDR were out coursing first light up Northumberland and then two tractors appeared on opposite sides of the field and came at us in a pincer movement ! Now LDR was half my age and a very fit young bloke. He took off like a whippet, cleared a stream and vaulted the barbed wire fence on the other side. I approached the stream with trepidation but managed, just , to clear the stream but grabbed the top strand of the wire and fall backwards, ending up horizontal, inches above the water ! I was shouting “pu2 points
