Pongo update he is doing well he’s strong enough to have a bath later in hibby scrub, just can’t believe the amount of ticks on such a small critter had about 15 yesterday and he is still pretty covered in them he got out his box and was running round the boat which is a good sign

I know some say don't interfere with nature but I have a large sycamore tree at the bottom of my garden adjoined by a tall privit hedge that a pair of blackbirds nest in every year and last year a carrion crow nested in the sycamore so I rattled a couple of 22 pellets into the nest when the crow was sitting on the nest and this year the nest has been took over by a pair of magpies and I have done the same it's bad enough for the blackbirds with the amount of domestic cats about to also have winged vermin to contend with near their nests.

I had swifts in my loft space for many years used to wait for there arrival absolutely loved it but eventually the magpies learned to tap the tiles and grab the young as they popped there heads up for food in the end they would wait on the roof and grab the adult birds as they left the nest, this happened despite me sitting in the garage shooting as many as I could in the end the swifts never returned sadly, best thing is to get a Larson trap wish I had bought one sooner they make a real dent in the magpie population

My Mrs & I had her young pup out yesterday afternoon & whilst crossing a field on a public footpath the pup managed to put herself a bunny up,she's seen odd ones here & there,usually in thick cover when with the terrier but this is the 1st one she's had a gallop on out in the open,she never caught it as it was a wise little thing & never broke stride as it made it to safety through the fencing,still it was another step in the right direction regarding her education,it won't be too long until she makes her maiden catch I don't think

Get hold of a book called "The way of a transgressor" by Negley Farson. American guy who had an amazing life. He got hold of a boat in Southampton, refitted it and went to Europe via Rotterdam. Took rivers and canals and got all the way to Romania. Took the Kette boat (chain driven tow) up the Frankishe Jura mountain river, made it to the Danube and the marshes, fished for sturgeon and shot ducks for food. An incredible life story.

A couple of lil flounder I took from a local river. This spot bout 1/2 mile up from a local estuary, well away from the sea water. Get small brownies here too. Hardly think there be any fish in it, not much of a river. Garden worms for bait. These lads went back not a bother on em.
